Aug 02 10:01:12 angstrom: 03testlab 07yocto * r99ece396cc 10testlab/beagleboard/eglibc/systemd-image/ (4 files): beagleboard: systemd-image configured for angstrom v2011.08-core using branch master and revision a5639550428ddac516a401c6db13690d9fe02191 Aug 02 11:26:26 hi Aug 02 11:28:23 I've installed proftpd via opkg, but it hasn't been compiled with "mod_tls" and I want openssl support. I guess the only way to get it would be to compile it by myself ? When I look at the compilations options used in the official package, I'm a bit scared no to do it right... Aug 02 14:01:20 hi. does the following error during bitbake x11-image look like user error or something else? http://pastebin.com/e7LEQwxv Aug 02 14:44:17 angstrom: 03Koen Kooi 07master * r7c54f644aa 10meta-angstrom/: Aug 02 14:44:17 angstrom: console-base-image: replace with systemd-image Aug 02 14:44:17 angstrom: Signed-off-by: Koen Kooi Aug 02 15:06:44 angstrom: 03testlab 07yocto * r161e6e6dc5 10testlab/beagleboard/eglibc/systemd-image/build-id: beagleboard: systemd-image configured for angstrom v2011.08-core using branch master and revision 10f1ac632648d654147a5a4757d6f5b34172fbe6 Aug 02 17:13:23 The new images for hx4700 on the online image builder are brilliant, looking much more modern than the 2007.12 version. Only problem is, the setup screen displays squares instead of text, until Enlightment starts up. Is it something that can be fixed by editing the image? Aug 02 17:47:30 im surprised the online builder worked :) Aug 02 17:47:37 its a bit buggy Aug 02 17:51:54 although, even building from source manually is a bit buggy with angstrom/oe Aug 02 17:52:24 i have yet to get a fully working install on ipaq 4350, maybe 70% complete at best Aug 02 18:22:01 That's encouraging... Aug 02 18:38:15 eranm: frankly I think CcSsNET is a little bit pessimistic, I've had working builds for various systems (though not specifically h4350) Aug 02 18:38:39 at least doing builds manually that is, I haven't used narcissus a lot Aug 02 19:18:37 ok what bluelightning said is fair, im a bit anoyed and biased against angstrom i guess Aug 02 21:52:23 Hi Aug 02 21:54:33 I'm rather tired from going through WM welcome steps every time I reset my hx4700. Is there a way to install a bootmanager on it? Aug 02 21:55:25 All I've found is old instructions to install sdg bootloader. Aug 02 21:58:35 eranm_: yea im sick of that too Aug 02 21:58:54 never found much on replacing stock firmware Aug 02 21:59:34 Hmm. Aug 02 22:01:00 this is what I found: http://packetfury.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=51&Itemid=59&lang=en Aug 02 22:02:06 Do you know how do I get kexecboot (from http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/demo/kexecboot/) running on the hx4700? Aug 02 22:03:14 (If I understand correctly, the exe I got from http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/releases/2007.12/images/hx4700/ is already booting the kernel and I want to boot with a newer one) Aug 02 22:20:25 eranm_: really, I think the only choice is the sdg bootloader Aug 02 22:20:35 kexecboot won't replace that I don't think Aug 02 22:22:05 flashing the bootloader is risky however Aug 02 22:23:32 According to the page I linked to, you can dump the entire rom image and later on flash it Aug 02 22:25:47 actually, if hx4700 works the same as h2200, what you're reflashing is the 2nd stage bootloader Aug 02 22:26:11 if that's the case their shouldn't be much risk actually Aug 02 22:26:21 argh, s/their/there Aug 02 22:30:21 bluelightning: that's what I understand: that the "bootloader shell" through which I'll be performing the backup and flashing will be accessible even if I'm flashing something bad Aug 02 22:31:03 hmm, at the moment I've been unable to confirm that Aug 02 22:31:08 FYI: Aug 02 22:31:09 http://web.archive.org/web/20071003100749/http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/HpIpaqHx4700 Aug 02 22:31:21 some useful info Aug 02 22:32:21 w00t! I've been able to boot kexecboot using haret. seems like I've learned something. Aug 02 22:32:24 thanks for the link Aug 02 22:32:45 no worries, I'm just glad the wayback machine archived it all Aug 02 22:32:54 wait handhelds.org is down :( Aug 02 22:33:03 I'm glad archive.org got it then Aug 02 22:33:08 yes :( Aug 02 22:33:28 I still need to do something with my 2 h2200's Aug 02 22:33:40 but I could never get lirc to work and thus I had no use for em. Aug 02 22:33:57 thankfully the good stuff got saved although unfortunately it doesn't show up in a google search (I guess that's good, otherwise google would be inundated with old rubbish from the wayback machine) Aug 02 22:35:01 Do I understand correctly that with kexecboot the kernel (zImage) can live inside the root filesystem and kexecboot will just do the right thing? Aug 02 22:35:20 (that is, mounting the root filesystem, booting zImage from there and passing the root filesystem to that kernel) Aug 02 22:35:31 eranm_: the OS kernel can if it knows where to find it, yes Aug 02 22:35:41 kexec allows on kernel to boot another one. Aug 02 22:35:47 one* Aug 02 22:36:14 yes, kexecboot is basically just a linux kernel with an initramfs Aug 02 22:36:34 the magic happens within the software on that initramfs, of course :) Aug 02 22:38:33 Thanks, I really appreciate the tips Aug 02 23:08:22 Now kexecboot even sees my bootable sd card, that's progress. Now, the only question is, how can you press enter on a device without a keyboard. Aug 02 23:09:34 dpad? Aug 02 23:11:03 seems to be frozen. a reboot is in order. Aug 03 00:37:40 Can't wait to see the 3.0 kernel making it's way to the hx4700 **** ENDING LOGGING AT Wed Aug 03 02:59:57 2011
