**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Mon Mar 30 03:00:00 2020 Mar 30 06:11:46 Hello Mar 30 06:12:43 i want to work on the topic "Reference Design For A GPIO-based Parallel Bi-Directional Bus" Mar 30 06:13:14 i did some similar work earlier where i extended pins for arduino using TLC5940 Mar 30 06:13:42 and have extensively worked with raspberrypi. Mar 30 06:14:09 Here is a project where i designed the hardware board and software Mar 30 06:14:46 https://deebot.github.io/smartCoaster.html Mar 30 06:15:09 I am looking for mentors to guide me in my draft Mar 30 06:16:54 I have so far updated the cross compilation code from github and have made a pull request Mar 30 06:17:51 Are there any mentors here ? sorry i am little late here but you know these are hard and stressful times due to COVID19 Mar 30 07:37:23 Hi deepankarmaithani I'm an admin on the project. Have you had interaction with a mentor yet for BeagleBoard. I"m sorry to hear things are stressful with the CV19 Mar 30 11:22:24 cwicks: HI cwicks no i havenot interacted Mar 30 11:24:29 cwicks: I want to get in touch soon. As the deadline is approaching. i tried to look for Henderson, Andrew or zubin as they are mentioned as mentors but couldnot find them here Mar 30 11:30:14 cwicks: i would be thankful to you if you could please help me get in touch. Mar 30 11:56:20 hi zeekhuge Mar 30 11:57:16 lorforlinux: thanks alot :) Mar 30 11:58:11 Please tell me one more thing. Should i start discussion about my project right here or it need to be done in direct message . Mar 30 12:00:34 ok thanks Mar 30 12:01:44 No not yet i will do that first Mar 30 12:02:29 deepankarmaithani: hi! What project are you interested in? Mar 30 12:04:12 zeekhuge: Reference Design For A GPIO-based Parallel Bi-Directional Bus Mar 30 12:10:44 I went through the links and datasheets and have shortlisted a few chips. According to the discription a bidirectional shift register is needed. But my first point of concern is that i couldnot find any evaluation board with such a chip, all the chips are SMD, However 74HC595 and 74HC165 are used together to create input and output ports. Since for these DIL packages are avialable it would be easier to test and Mar 30 12:10:44 debug on breadboard. Mar 30 12:14:25 I would be completing in the draft in next few hours and then zeekhuge may be you can give your feed back so that i can improve it Mar 30 14:16:02 I will have to look at git.ti.com, give me some time. Can I add to my elinux page after 31st?? Mar 30 16:42:48 testing bbb.io/gsocchat experience. I don't like the need to login to get started with where it is pointing today. :-/ Mar 30 16:43:48 I'm thinking beagleboard.org should probably run a gateway service to applications. Mar 30 16:48:36 Could https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-appservice-irc help? The matrix.org lags are really problematic. Mar 30 17:08:26 jkridner: I have updated some things in the proposal, Can you please review the proposal for the one last time before i submit it on summerofcode.withgoogle.com? Mar 30 17:20:55 The last date is 31 midnight..right @lorforlinux:matrix.org ? Mar 30 17:21:23 I feel that Google is going to extend the deadline.. Mar 30 17:21:46 yes 1 day, 38 minutes left. Mar 30 17:22:19 nope google is not going to extend the timeline, they sent a mail about that. Mar 30 17:40:48 @pradan:matrix.org: The deadline is NOT going to be extended Mar 30 17:56:54 pradan: 18:00 UTC Mar 30 18:01:25 less than 24 hours left for the submission :) Mar 30 18:07:47 🤗 Mar 30 18:09:30 All the best guys ;) Mar 30 18:53:46 All the best to everyone :)) Mar 30 19:27:33 why has it been so quiet? Mar 30 19:28:14 ymdatta: are you getting these messages? Mar 30 19:28:26 ymdatta: are you still working on your proposal? Mar 30 19:33:54 jkridner: i guess not everybody got good feedback and motivation from their mentors as i got from you. that may not be true but it seems like that to me :( Mar 30 19:43:18 lorforlinux: oops, I didn't recognize your name when I replied on the GSoC mailing list. It was a new thread. Mar 30 19:44:50 No problemo boss ;) Mar 30 19:45:45 lorforlinux: You have "P8/P9 header compatibility" and "Cape compatibility" as the section headers, roughly. Mar 30 19:46:38 I'm asking that you deliniate on solutions for making overlays compatible at boot time and solutions for making userspace applications compatible at runtime. Mar 30 19:47:18 Your two sections don't seem to break it down that way and thus I'm confused regarding the goals within those sections. Mar 30 19:47:32 I believe those are the two big overarching goals.... Mar 30 19:48:11 make it where overlays are the same (because you've defined the pinmux settings with compatible labels and peripherals with compatible labels and ... ?)...... Mar 30 19:48:33 and make it where userspace code is the same (because you've made symlinks to find the right peripheral and ...?) Mar 30 19:48:42 Before discussion those seem like the best option but now i know that boot time pin mode selection and overlays are the best way to get the work done. Mar 30 19:49:58 also, for userspace compatibility, having a common set of overlays for accessing the common peripherals on the same pins as listed in my massive spreadsheat. Mar 30 19:50:35 Can you fix it in the next few hours before the submission? Mar 30 19:51:22 I will do my best :) Mar 30 19:57:07 lorforlinux: did you look at my big spreadsheet on the interfaces on the pins? did you understand the color legend? The colors highlighted the most important interfaces for each pin. The color illustrated the driver category Mar 30 20:01:51 yes. i looked at it. It seems like one of the most important source of information for completing the project. I was confused about the colors thanks for pointing that out. I can not say i have understood it properly but i am trying to. I may not be able to include this part within time :( Mar 31 02:53:32 Hello . I have a very trivial question at this stage. Sorry but i thought asking here will save time. I want to transfer my draft in word to elinux wiki. I know there is a template https://elinux.org/BeagleBoard/GSoC/2020ProposalTemplate. I am logged into my elinux account but i think i should not directly edit the template and i should make my copy and then add my specific details in it. But i am not getting Mar 31 02:53:32 any option to create a new page. Any pointers will be appreciated. Thanks **** ENDING LOGGING AT Tue Mar 31 02:59:57 2020
