Aug 20 04:27:08 heh Aug 20 04:27:27 it is TRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aug 20 04:28:49 it's a tarp Aug 20 04:29:56 <_av500_> prat Aug 20 04:38:06 ds2: you have been randomly selected for this #beagle channel satifisfaction survey Aug 20 04:38:33 ds2: if you can provide your credit card details for verification we'll put you in the draw to win $5,000,000 Aug 20 04:39:03 why certainly... 5111 1111 1111 1111 10/18 Aug 20 04:39:05 :D Aug 20 04:39:13 YOU ARE A WINNNER! I'm scottish Aug 20 04:40:57 we hate royality Aug 20 04:41:41 oh sorry, no change then Aug 20 04:44:14 i hate everything Aug 20 04:44:57 everything hates you Aug 20 04:45:28 except your cat. your cat knows you as the source of food. Aug 20 04:48:31 at least your cat doesn't know you AS food Aug 20 04:49:04 nom nom nom... tasty monkey. Aug 20 04:50:35 <_av500_> ds2: wait till he slips and breaks an ankle Aug 20 04:51:41 eeep Aug 20 05:01:17 hi Aug 20 05:53:43 Hi, Im trying to evaluate if the beagleboard is a good option to build a high quality audio player. I've gone though some forums that mention that the audio quality off the board is not particularly good. Since the board does not lack any processing power and the included DSP should be able to do most of the decoding, is the hardware around the audio output an issue? Aug 20 05:55:18 <_av500_> azi: decoding is not an issue Aug 20 05:55:45 <_av500_> even without the DSP, the ARM is powerfull enough Aug 20 05:55:59 <_av500_> as for audio quality, its porbably not hifi Aug 20 05:56:08 <_av500_> more like your average cell phone Aug 20 05:56:26 <_av500_> so, if you have golden ears, that might be an issue Aug 20 05:57:43 any suggestions on other dev boards that can provide high quality? Or will it be possible to develop on the beagleboard and then build a board with the same chips and better audio hardware? Aug 20 06:01:02 as for your previous answer, ARM is definately powerful enough, but I am looking to stream audio and video over wifi and then have the board play this. Also build a GUI for the device. Freeing up the ARM would help in that case. Any suggestions or pointers for how to approach this project ? Thanks a lot for your time Aug 20 06:05:47 which beagle are you looking at? Aug 20 06:06:35 xM Aug 20 06:07:00 what hardware do you plan to use for the audio output? Aug 20 06:07:24 * mranostay is about to hurl this OLS out 10 stories Aug 20 06:07:41 right now i was planning to use the hardware on the board itself. Aug 20 06:08:01 the audio codec on the beagleboard / xm is barely adequate. Aug 20 06:08:20 the analog circuitry is located on the same die as the power management Aug 20 06:08:39 so there's a fair amount of supply switching noise coupled into the audio. Aug 20 06:08:47 dead pandas to the rescue? Aug 20 06:09:05 audio codes can be written for the dsp right? Aug 20 06:09:30 sure Aug 20 06:09:35 i got the codes Aug 20 06:09:43 send me the codes! Aug 20 06:10:07 thanks guys Aug 20 06:10:21 np Aug 20 06:10:36 whoa Aug 20 06:10:51 these probes have a shit ton of noise Aug 20 06:11:14 "Bring in the logic probe!" Aug 20 06:11:31 cross talk godammit Aug 20 06:11:48 at least my OLS isn't toast Aug 20 06:12:24 <_av500_> azi: there is e.g. XBMC for the XM Aug 20 06:12:29 <_av500_> but it does not do full HD Aug 20 06:12:43 <_av500_> so, dont call it a media center Aug 20 06:12:52 * mranostay hates _av500_ on his way out Aug 20 06:12:56 <_av500_> as for audio, you can add your own DAC Aug 20 06:13:04 <_av500_> and go as wild as you want Aug 20 06:13:34 <_av500_> mranostay: have that cat bite looked at Aug 20 06:13:44 as long as you like rewriting the ALSA driver Aug 20 06:13:55 <_av500_> ? Aug 20 06:14:04 toxoplasmosis is a terrible thing to see Aug 20 06:14:17 <_av500_> some simple I2S should be doable Aug 20 06:14:19 for those that care 26+26 fortune file here --> http://ranostay.org/26_26_54_quotes.dat Aug 20 06:14:25 updated dailyt Aug 20 06:15:04 <_av500_> then thrwo some 1543s at it Aug 20 06:15:12 <_av500_> 10 on each channel or so Aug 20 06:15:48 <_av500_> ah Aug 20 06:15:53 <_av500_> they are stereo :) Aug 20 06:16:13 usb? Aug 20 06:16:17 that's doable Aug 20 06:18:12 or do you mean tda1543 I2S DAC? Aug 20 06:23:07 <_av500_> yes Aug 20 06:23:45 I never had much luck trying to tweak the I2S driver code Aug 20 06:24:55 but - that was before it was even really working. Now at least it works, so it shouldn't be hard to piggy-back on the I2S output stream. Aug 20 06:30:34 z Aug 20 06:30:38 ups Aug 20 06:57:25 a wonderfull JIHAD everyone! Aug 20 07:38:21 so, i need kernel headers to recompile my kernel(debian). but i cant find headers for 3.8.13-bone21. is there something more generic i should be looking for? can i just use normal 3.8.31 arm headers? Aug 20 07:38:45 * supposing i can find those Aug 20 07:46:21 mranostay: alias fact="elinks -dump randomfunfacts.com | sed -n '/^| /p' | tr -d \|" Aug 20 07:46:53 flufmnstr: you don't need kernel headers Aug 20 07:47:33 flufmnstr: you need kernel headers if you want to compile external module (and i think glibc needs them as well) against that kernel Aug 20 07:47:59 if you want to recompile you kernel, you need full kernel sources Aug 20 07:56:57 jacekowski im looking to build ftdi support into the kernel Aug 20 07:57:29 you need full kernel sources Aug 20 07:58:38 so if i already have the sources, configure and compile the kernel as normal? Aug 20 09:18:55 Hallo Aug 20 09:19:42 good moaning Aug 20 09:20:05 hoi Aug 20 09:21:10 I connect BB xm via USB on Win 7, 64 bit and I have no access to 192.168.7.2 because of USB device errors Aug 20 09:21:29 I do not find any solution in internet for it Aug 20 09:21:58 I also installed the BB device drivers Aug 20 09:22:13 is there any known issue? Aug 20 09:23:03 I think the BB xm needs a normal ethernet cable. Aug 20 09:24:06 is it not possible via USB cable like mentioned in the docs? Aug 20 09:26:00 hah, this is why the kernel gets untared funnily: "tar --strip-components=1" Aug 20 09:26:25 and this is why I shouldn't trust the name "linux-xxx-orig.tar.gz" Aug 20 09:27:08 sorry, I do not understand what you mean Aug 20 09:27:29 I am using the org SD card Aug 20 09:27:41 mondo: what guide are you following and why do you expect something to happen? Aug 20 09:27:43 preinstalled ubuntu, right? Aug 20 09:28:42 I need access to BB xm and work with ubuntu Aug 20 09:31:44 I need answer question. doc what? Aug 20 09:33:14 in http://beagleboard.org/Getting%20Started Step 1, 2 and 3 Aug 20 09:41:25 is there a known problem with windows 64 bit drivers for BB xm? Aug 20 09:42:06 We can not proceed on our project because of lack of communication with board Aug 20 09:43:16 hi folks, i'm trying to hook a Li-Po battery to the BeagleBone (white). I connected "BAT" to "BAT_SENSE" and i ground BAT_TEMP through a 10K resistor. When i connect the battery, the power LED of the BONE blinks slightly and the turns off. It blinks every 8 seconds. Aug 20 09:43:43 Any idea why this could be happening? Aug 20 09:45:02 single cell lipo? Aug 20 09:45:16 yes Aug 20 09:45:18 iirc bradfa made the battery interface work Aug 20 09:46:08 hiii Aug 20 09:46:49 hii Aug 20 09:46:59 has somebody an idea on Win7 64 bit device driver problem for BB xm? Aug 20 09:47:19 vmayoral: I'm looking through my mail archive and I find your posts from april :) Aug 20 09:51:00 koen: yes actually that's what is pissing me off, i already made it work using this configuration Aug 20 09:51:35 let's wait for bradfo to wake up :) Aug 20 09:52:21 vmayoral: and having battery state info would be nice Aug 20 09:52:35 keesj_ are you still with me? Aug 20 09:52:50 vmayoral: do you plan to use i2c-dev for that or enhance the TPS kernel driver? Aug 20 09:54:56 koen: i was planning to use i2c-dev. Regarding the battery, i tried it with different ones (all 3.7 Li-Po single cells) Aug 20 09:58:10 koen: the battery is like this one http://www.goodluckbuy.com/rc-3-7v-240mah-20c-hs20c-111115-14-li-polymer-battery-for-rc-3ch-helicopter.html Aug 20 09:58:39 koen: (mine is 200 mAh) but that shouldn't be the issue Aug 20 10:19:41 hello Aug 20 10:20:09 here its askinh ip of beagle bone black Aug 20 10:20:17 what to do? Aug 20 10:42:46 Deepak: huh? Aug 20 10:44:06 i think they're reffering to the box that asks for the beaglebone's ip address when you log into its webpage for the first time. Aug 20 10:55:27 huh, it asks for its own ip address? Aug 20 10:55:52 koen: thanks for your support, i solved it. i disconnected everything and did the connections again carefully. It worked this time. What is worrying me is the blinking behaviour. I'll comment this issue at the google groups to see if somebody has something to add. Aug 20 11:28:23 morning Aug 20 11:43:04 vmayoral, for the battery, you're using a 240 mAh pack? Aug 20 11:43:29 Unless it can source like 4C you're going to have quite a short lifetime of charges for it Aug 20 11:43:46 most 3.7 V single cell lithiums I've seen say no more than 1 C discharge rate Aug 20 11:44:07 so if you want to discharge at 1 A (full load of bone worst case) you need about a 1 Ah battery Aug 20 11:44:11 Depends if they're for planes. Aug 20 11:44:13 I run 0.9 Ah Aug 20 11:44:18 Then they're 'happy' with 20C Aug 20 11:44:34 I have a design for a hoverboard using 20kg of 30C lithium. Aug 20 11:44:43 * SpeedEvil wishes someone would fund that. Aug 20 11:44:56 It is perhaps not quite sane. Aug 20 11:45:02 SpeedEvil, ok, but sourcing much more than 1C sounds like we're talking about expesnive batteries, no? Aug 20 11:45:18 Can fly to 2km and come back down, and has a power of 250kW Aug 20 11:45:24 holy cow Aug 20 11:45:27 bradfa: It depends - in ones - not really Aug 20 11:45:35 And you can actually lift it. Aug 20 11:45:39 (sorta) Aug 20 11:45:48 does it have exposed props? Aug 20 11:45:49 link? Aug 20 11:45:57 * bradfa wants a quad copter with no exposed props Aug 20 11:46:03 Basically not. I don't have it fleshed out as more than a paper design. Aug 20 11:46:03 for safety reasons Aug 20 11:46:08 k Aug 20 11:46:09 ducted fans Aug 20 11:46:23 mru, something like that, yes, but finding one already made so I can buy it is the hard part Aug 20 11:46:30 this isn't a hobby project Aug 20 11:46:56 I want to do RF site surveys indoors and a flying device that can hover is highly desired Aug 20 11:47:01 Basically, imagine a 1.2*1.2m platform with around 100 closely packed ducted fans, and a small platform with 30kg of lithium-ion in the middle, and someone standing on top Aug 20 11:47:13 Takeoff would be 'loud' Aug 20 11:47:25 SpeedEvil, and deadly often, I'd think :) Aug 20 11:47:26 250kW of fans spinning at 35000RPM or so. Aug 20 11:47:40 vmayoral, link for your battery didn't work for me Aug 20 11:47:48 It's no more dangerous than a segway. Aug 20 11:47:56 didn't segway guy die on a segway? Aug 20 11:48:03 yes Aug 20 11:48:05 not really a good marketing campaign Aug 20 11:48:39 vmayoral, if you have questions about my battery setup and I'm not around on IRC, email me Aug 20 11:48:42 @gmail.com Aug 20 11:50:00 jkridner, http://www.beagleboard.org/irclogs/ says "Page not found" and I got there from http://beagleboard.org/Community/Live+Chat/ Aug 20 11:50:44 MMUs are for pansies Aug 20 12:20:53 bradfa: if you want to do RF measurments, make sure you use electronically commutated motors Aug 20 12:21:05 bradfa: otherwise RF noise from the motors will wipe out any signal Aug 20 12:21:10 KotH, good point, hadn't thought of that Aug 20 12:21:34 first reaction from people has been that no one at a fortune 500 is goign to let me fly indoors while their people are working :) Aug 20 12:21:38 bradfa: but even those should be well shielded... Aug 20 12:21:39 something about liability Aug 20 12:21:48 motors are .. dirty, RF wise Aug 20 12:21:59 lol Aug 20 12:22:06 there are indoor quadcopters Aug 20 12:22:19 the most important thing is to keep it light Aug 20 12:22:22 KotH, yes, but I need to lift 5 to 10 lb Aug 20 12:22:29 big arse antenna Aug 20 12:22:36 bradfa: There is ... Aug 20 12:22:43 5kg might be problematic, 2.5kg is not Aug 20 12:22:48 I was going to suggest a leetle airship Aug 20 12:22:57 2.5kg is a lot of lift indoors Aug 20 12:22:57 bradfa: what kind of antenna? Aug 20 12:23:02 A _LOT_ of lift Aug 20 12:23:03 SpeedEvil, you need quite a lot of volume to lift with balloons Aug 20 12:23:11 It is not compatible with a usual office environemnt Aug 20 12:23:14 KotH, 433 MHz Aug 20 12:23:18 haha, "The good thing about lending someone your time machine is that you basically get it back immediately." Aug 20 12:23:21 bradfa: sure - but if you can shrink the payload to 20g Aug 20 12:23:26 bradfa: so rather smallish stuff? Aug 20 12:23:41 bradfa: what's so heavy? Aug 20 12:23:46 Also - a 2.5kg antenna - for 433? Aug 20 12:23:53 That's trying really really hard to be insane. Aug 20 12:23:56 KotH, smallish but also need to run a tether down about 10 to 20 m Aug 20 12:24:01 Unless it's a multi-element yagi Aug 20 12:24:07 * bradfa is mixing units like NASA! Aug 20 12:24:22 SpeedEvil, you'd be surprised Aug 20 12:24:44 bradfa: cannt you put a light spectrum analyzer into the thing and use some wireless proto to get the data down? Aug 20 12:24:44 * bradfa doesn't design antennas, he just dreams up ways to have fun at work Aug 20 12:24:56 bradfa: would you hire me? :) Aug 20 12:25:13 * KotH knows tons of ways how to have fun at work Aug 20 12:25:16 :) Aug 20 12:25:37 it helps if the workplace has a high-voltage generator Aug 20 12:25:44 mru, we have one, for airfield lighting Aug 20 12:25:50 freaking 6kV Aug 20 12:25:56 not bad Aug 20 12:25:58 bradfa: As context - I'm involved with #highaltitude - who with 2.5kg can easily do a multi-camera payload to fly to 35km altitude, and be recovered later over while being recieved in flight from 500km Aug 20 12:26:00 that's the little one Aug 20 12:26:00 how much current? Aug 20 12:26:06 6 A Aug 20 12:26:21 SpeedEvil, I need to fly in a warehouse Aug 20 12:26:25 *brrrrzzzzzz* Aug 20 12:26:25 continuous? Aug 20 12:26:30 mru, yes Aug 20 12:26:35 nice Aug 20 12:26:37 turns the lights on at the airport Aug 20 12:26:40 for the planes to land Aug 20 12:26:58 nominal is something like 2 kV at 6A Aug 20 12:27:05 we call it the "box of death" Aug 20 12:27:18 * SpeedEvil looks at his 100kV PSU plans. Aug 20 12:27:22 (Though only 10mA) Aug 20 12:28:04 oh, wait, I think the little one we have is lower voltage, maybe only like 400 V, but still 6 A, the one at the airport is 6kV at 6A Aug 20 12:53:35 KotH: what is it with psychologists? I just read this snippet: "In 2005, psychologist Janet Shibley Hyde analyzed dozens of prior meta-analyses of studies ..." Aug 20 13:02:25 mru: well, you know, statistics is hard, so you do statistics over statistics to check whether the statistic are statistically sound Aug 20 13:07:02 KotH: This is for you http://i.imgur.com/JYykS5k.jpg Aug 20 13:48:58 CHOCOLATE! Aug 20 14:19:22 * SilicaGel Do Not Eat Aug 20 14:21:01 * KotH throws SpeedEvil into the oven to try him Aug 20 14:22:35 * SpeedEvil notes that the oven is still set at 40C from rising bread, so gets slightly uncomfortably warm. Aug 20 14:39:25 SpeedEvil: 40°C? Aug 20 14:39:32 KotH: ? Aug 20 14:39:43 SpeedEvil: SilicaGel is dried at >100°C Aug 20 14:39:54 what! no! I'm having trouble figuring out how to disable i2c2 and free up those pins. Any advice? Aug 20 15:11:43 * mranostay heads off to the soul crusher as mru puts it Aug 20 15:12:01 huh? Aug 20 15:12:05 right? Aug 20 15:12:22 mru: office :) Aug 20 15:15:22 mru: I just want to use those pins as GPIO pins, but I think they're being used by default by the I2C2 cape support. Apparently it's impossible to google how to turn that off on the beaglebone black Aug 20 15:16:32 middleca: use other gpios Aug 20 15:17:05 mranostay: that would definitely work, if I wasn't using a manufactured pcb Aug 20 15:17:08 climbing device trees is fraught with danger Aug 20 15:18:49 bradfa: definitely, I have the device tree working for the other weird pins I need, but those two are all locked up by i2c2 Aug 20 15:19:59 mranostay: so is it that even though the bbb docs say those pins can be gpio, I should just avoid them then? Aug 20 15:20:34 bradfa: thanks for following before at the battery issue thing Aug 20 15:22:34 bradfa: fixed it already, i guess i had some shortcircuits somewhere. After re-connecting everything it worked out, the batteries are a 200mAh Fullriver Li-Po single-cells Aug 20 15:23:07 bradfa: what is worrying me is that blinking behavior on the power LED Aug 20 15:25:06 bradfa: i'll test it more and take a look at the datasheet more carefully to try to figure out something Aug 20 15:25:11 Does anybody knows if is possible program a beaglebone black with armstrong linux under windows using QT creator ? Aug 20 15:26:03 armstrong linux is cool Aug 20 15:26:46 david___ maybee you mean if it is possible to use the angstroem sdk with qt creator under windows? Aug 20 15:26:57 and the answer is no Aug 20 15:27:30 there are some efforts to make sdk working with mingw but nothing working at the moment Aug 20 15:27:33 david___ you mean to cross compile a Qt application on a different computer using Qt Creator as an IDE, then copy it to your Beagle Bone running Angstrom on that you've compiled Qt for? Aug 20 15:29:14 david___ first Angstrom doesn't have a Qt package, so just running a Qt app on a beagle bone with the default Angstrom requires you to compile Qt for the Beagle Bone (usually cross compiled on a separate machine). Aug 20 15:31:00 lumdidum Aug 20 15:31:01 http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/repo/?pkgname=libqtcore4 Aug 20 15:32:47 I'm understanding. So it is not possible to compile under Windows. Do you know if QT is compatible with BeagleBone Black? Because I found information only using firsts BeagleBoard Aug 20 15:32:50 so it has a package now? Aug 20 15:34:04 david___ -> 17:26 < woglinde> and the answer is no 17:27 < woglinde> there are some efforts to make sdk working with mingw but nothing working at the moment Aug 20 15:34:27 SoCo_cpp_ do not know what you mean? Aug 20 15:34:57 maybee the bone and black do not have all activated in the opkg.conf Aug 20 15:36:11 I don't see why one couldn't setup an ARM Qt cross compile toolchain and use Qt Creator to develop for it. Aug 20 15:36:14 Sorry about my english, I am from Argentina. Usually I use Windows environment, so I am learning using Ubuntu. Programming under linux is new for me too Aug 20 15:36:41 SoCo_cpp_ you need a crosscompiler on windows Aug 20 15:37:00 and oe do not has yet the option to make the crosscompiler work for windows Aug 20 15:37:00 woglinde why is that a problem, when you have mingw? Aug 20 15:37:04 yes Aug 20 15:37:14 maybee diffrent symbols diffrent qt Aug 20 15:38:16 I always just cross compliled with Linux, it was much easier. I don't recall any reasons that would bar you from doing so in Windows, but I may be wrong. Aug 20 15:38:23 david___ did you think about how you will ship your app? Aug 20 15:38:42 angstroem is using the ipkg file format Aug 20 15:40:37 hi prpplague Aug 20 15:41:23 SoCo_cpp_ *sigh* developing is not the problem getting it run your target platform ist Aug 20 15:42:11 greetings Aug 20 15:43:45 woglinde I've just always cross compiled the Qt library for arm and installed it on the bone. Then I was able to run Qt apps on the target and reuse the cross compiled Qt library and cross compiling toolchain to develop on my PC. Aug 20 15:44:31 SoCo_cpp_ yes sure, but thats not so easy on windows Aug 20 15:45:38 Qt has improved its cross compiling support lately. Using their mkspec system, I thought there was support for mingw, they do distribute a mingw gcc toolchain version of Qt Aug 20 15:49:14 I do development on my bb :/ heh Aug 20 15:49:41 qt development Aug 20 15:49:47 hm http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11420984/qtcreator-on-windows-to-cross-compile-for-linux-arm-with-codesourcery-toolchain Aug 20 15:49:57 malcom2073 slow slow slow Aug 20 15:50:08 woglinde: it is heh Aug 20 15:50:23 but I'm too lazy to set up windows cross-compile tools Aug 20 15:50:32 lol Aug 20 15:50:40 So dev on windows, pop over to the BB, compile and test there usually Aug 20 15:50:41 time to go home Aug 20 16:14:40 just fyi, circuitco is spinning two new prototype capes, if you have features you'd like to request for these capes, please drop me an email or ping me on irc Aug 20 16:14:47 danders@circuitco.com Aug 20 16:15:52 prpplague: dammit, I just got a couple of those adafruit proto boards Aug 20 16:15:52 Prototype of what? Aug 20 16:16:12 Do you mean breadboard? Aug 20 16:16:13 SpeedEvil: generic proto boards Aug 20 16:16:37 SpeedEvil: i.e. things like this - https://www.sparkfun.com/products/7914 Aug 20 16:18:10 Ah - right - I was assuming something more advanced. :) Aug 20 16:18:36 As in a prototype of something, rather than prototype board. :) Aug 20 16:20:42 I got these specifically to make a breadboard setup permanent Aug 20 16:21:02 so make 'em cheap, is my point of view :) Aug 20 16:22:55 biot: yea that is the plan Aug 20 16:27:30 prpplague: How about a TiWi-BLE for the bbb? :P Aug 20 16:27:49 malcom2073: yea not on the agenda Aug 20 16:28:01 Is there just no interest in wifi/bluetooth on the bbb or what? Aug 20 16:28:37 you can plug a stick into the usb port Aug 20 16:28:40 most people don't need it Aug 20 16:28:45 malcom2073: people generally use usb for that, plus those tiwi style modules use the SDIO , which means you lose eMMC Aug 20 16:28:46 BLE is less pointful with a system that takes most of a watt Aug 20 16:28:46 so why make them pay for it? Aug 20 16:29:12 I mean - sure - if the beagle could be powered down to a fast responding 1mW mode - maybe Aug 20 16:29:12 Hmm Aug 20 16:59:11 Screw the TIWI Aug 20 16:59:16 I never got my tiwi-r2 board working Aug 20 16:59:18 :( Aug 20 16:59:46 i should try to crowdsource getting the software for it correct Aug 20 16:59:57 and offer someone a free board Aug 20 17:01:25 SilicaGel: the tiwi capes were designed specifically for a single customer who had all they needed for their software. it was thought that selling them as development tools would be advantageous, but too many people are under the impression that it is fully supported in the software Aug 20 17:01:38 SilicaGel: i am working to correct how many of the capes are produced and sold Aug 20 17:02:01 correct in what direction? Aug 20 17:02:07 I bought a pile of TIWI-R2 modules and made my own board Aug 20 17:03:01 I can't speak for others but my mistaken assumption was that I was samrt enough to make it work :D Aug 20 17:04:35 SilicaGel: correct in the way that no capes produced or sold from circuitco will ship without 100% software functionality and full documentation Aug 20 17:06:04 prpplague: yeah. that's an admirable policy. Aug 20 17:07:27 SilicaGel: problem is that circuitco is a hardware vendor in general terms so in the past selling hardware was acceptable. i.e. many of the previous capes only had minimal software functionality, they were sold as developmental tools, and that isn't what a lot of lower end users are expecting Aug 20 17:07:47 SilicaGel: black has brought in a new set of users who aren't very interested in that type of development Aug 20 17:08:08 Oh? That's very interesting! Aug 20 17:14:57 i just don't think i like the tiwi modules Aug 20 17:15:02 and i don't think i like the idea of using mmc for that Aug 20 17:17:16 make ... wait for failure ... correct mistake; rinse, repeat Aug 20 17:17:20 I hate my job Aug 20 17:17:27 so quit Aug 20 17:18:04 I'm looking, I'm looking Aug 20 17:18:17 quit first, it'll motivate you to look harder Aug 20 17:18:32 ya also bills pay themselves Aug 20 17:18:47 got no stash? Aug 20 20:14:42 hmmm Aug 20 20:14:52 I blame my parents Aug 20 20:14:59 quality of the schools influences the quality of the kids, quality of the kids influences the quality of the stupid shit & criminal activity that impacts you and your neighborhood directly Aug 20 20:15:06 Kansas City, Missouri school district lost its accreditation for christs sake. If you finish high school there it doesn't even count. Aug 20 20:15:30 how to use winscp with Beaglebone white? Aug 20 20:15:41 georgem: nice Aug 20 20:16:14 georgem: State GED time after that...? Please take the time to use a proper IRC account Aug 20 20:27:14 or asking two times in 30 seconds Aug 20 20:27:26 he had a name, Joel, but then (nickserv) changed it? Aug 20 20:41:55 Joelone hm why you need the img xz compressed? Aug 20 20:42:08 it is meant for directly written to some partition Aug 20 20:43:54 I don't need the img to be compressed, but an image can directly write to SD card from windows. The most of my team member use vagrant on windows host. Aug 20 20:44:58 btw. Aug 20 20:45:01 IMAGE_TYPES = "jffs2 sum.jffs2 cramfs ext2 ext2.gz ext2.bz2 ext3 ext3.gz ext2.lzma btrfs live squashfs squashfs-xz ubi ubifs tar tar.gz tar.bz2 tar.xz cpio cpio.gz cpio.xz cpio.lzma vmdk elf" Aug 20 20:45:15 pick one Aug 20 20:46:10 you can write ext3 directly to a partition on sdcard Aug 20 20:46:24 not the first one Aug 20 20:46:27 ;) Aug 20 20:46:37 if you want to boot beagles from sd-card Aug 20 20:48:41 * woglinde wonders why ext4 is not in there but image_types.bbclass has support for it Aug 20 20:48:47 Thanks for long list, but I don't think the ext3 is the same as "img". I write the *.img file from angstrom to SD card, it has two partition inside the img file. One for u-boot, MLO, and one for rootfs Aug 20 20:50:28 I think I can write the image to a loop device, then make it an "img" file. But I thought there are better solution inside OE. Is the some sort of configuration I need to do so this will work with HDMI monitors? Aug 20 23:17:32 nevermind I got it, the default resolution picked by X (1280x1024) didnt jive with my monitor. Forcing it to 1440x900 worked perfectly Aug 21 00:38:20 holly poopoo Aug 21 00:38:34 got new beaglebone image, opkg list-upgradable, NOTHING.
