Apr 17 09:10:25 nope Apr 17 09:10:31 nobody knows what your problem is Apr 17 09:11:30 ah, I want to use two wireless virtual devices Apr 17 09:11:37 wlan0 and wlan0_ap Apr 17 09:11:59 when the wireless devices starts, it gets wlan0 Apr 17 09:12:22 when I start the second virtual device I want to get wlan0_ap Apr 17 09:12:24 I use: Apr 17 09:13:01 iw dev wlan0 interface add wlan0_ap type __ap Apr 17 09:13:10 but udev renames it to wlan2 Apr 17 09:13:49 hmm... Apr 17 09:13:55 I tried to compare the two devices with their sysfs and found no good way to tell them apart Apr 17 09:14:03 i've never tried to asign two interfaces to the same hardware Apr 17 09:14:17 with wireless you can Apr 17 09:14:22 yes, i know Apr 17 09:14:25 some devices support that Apr 17 09:14:35 ath9k_htc Apr 17 09:14:38 i think you'd have to talk to the udev people directly Apr 17 09:14:53 where do they live, these udev ppl? Apr 17 13:53:48 l4cr0ss: https://github.com/jadonk/gamingcape Apr 17 13:54:27 l4cr0ss: software/install.sh is the script I'm currently running to get the gamingcape to work on boot. Apr 17 13:54:42 l4cr0ss: future images will just include the BEAGLEBOY.dtbo Apr 17 14:13:50 jkridner: having trouble getting to github at the moment. will take a look as soon as i figure out what's wrong. Apr 17 14:14:27 jkridner: How did the crowd buy run for the cape go? Apr 17 14:46:10 Are console images no longer being distributed as part of the /latest-images? Apr 17 14:50:09 jg_, you need to click on the link.. then you'll find: http://elinux.org/Beagleboard:BeagleBoneBlack_Debian#2015-03-01 Apr 17 14:50:27 "other Debian images" Apr 17 14:56:29 I have but I noticed jessie images do not have a console only like wheezy use to have Apr 17 14:57:55 Unless of course test images are not being provided in conole form (2015-04-12) doesn't have a console version available Apr 17 15:02:33 jg_: i know there's one for 2015-04-09 Apr 17 15:02:55 jg_, still working on making it perfect before i release it. ;) Apr 17 15:03:48 rcn-ee: having trouble getting to github. are you incorporating that fix for the modprobe thing? what did you have to do to make it work? Apr 17 15:04:13 l4cr0ss, it turned out to be a race condition between musb-hdrc and g_ether.. ;) Apr 17 15:04:39 hi Apr 17 15:04:43 l4cr0ss, move musb-hdrc to be builtin: https://github.com/RobertCNelson/ti-linux-kernel-dev/commit/91b44dd618b6a4f0d44aa00a18e6195292fd4c0d Apr 17 15:05:23 so on the next release, it'll be fixed.. for now, just add a "sleep 10" before this line: https://github.com/RobertCNelson/boot-scripts/blob/master/boot/am335x_evm.sh#L92 Apr 17 15:05:35 then it works perfect... Apr 17 15:05:50 rcn-ee Thank you for the update, and I can definitely wait for it to be ready! I was worried the console images were going the way of the Dodo Apr 17 15:06:30 i have a question about suspend mode beaglbone Apr 17 15:06:39 anyone help me? Apr 17 15:06:46 ask your question Apr 17 15:06:47 jg_, nah, i was fighting the issue l4cr0ss just mentioned above.. So after i get that kernel out and tested, i may have the console back this sunday.. (if not defintelly the follwing week) Apr 17 15:06:59 skizz0to otherwise the answer is no Apr 17 15:07:03 i use beaglebone with debian 7 wheezy Apr 17 15:07:15 and have pm-suspend Apr 17 15:07:15 skizz0to, "suspend" works with 3.14-ti kernel... Apr 17 15:07:33 skizz0to, 3.8, no chance in ..hockey sticks... Apr 17 15:08:03 rcn-ee, sounds good to me. thank you again Apr 17 15:08:05 so i need to use a 3.14 kernel Apr 17 15:08:11 image to works Apr 17 15:08:44 also for hibernate? Apr 17 15:08:58 skizz0to, correct... but you also said "beaglebone"... if that's the original es 1 (720Mhz) version, suspend isn't going to work either.. You need the es2.x found on the beaglebone black. Apr 17 15:09:24 sorry mine is a beaglebone black ver A6 Apr 17 15:09:27 skizz0to, only tested suspend... hibernate just means you dump the ram to flash, etc.. that takes more work.. u-boot etc... Apr 17 15:09:40 skizz0to, suspend with v3.14.x will work with that.. Apr 17 15:09:48 i need a system with batt Apr 17 15:10:11 starting without hiding all before to show Apr 17 15:10:20 my software in X Apr 17 15:10:24 well, we have the foundation setup for you.. You just got to finish the implemenation and show us what you did. ;) Apr 17 15:10:42 I made a system with rfid reader Apr 17 15:10:58 for underwater archeological protection repert Apr 17 15:11:10 skizz0to, as long as you have a recent image (cat /etc/dogtag) > Oct 2014, you can use : http://elinux.org/Beagleboard:BeagleBoneBlack_Debian#3.14.x-ti to install and test v3.14.x Apr 17 15:11:48 now i 'm using 4dcape no touch Apr 17 15:11:51 rcn-ee: the file changed in your commit says it's auto-generated. did you regenerate the file or is it not really auto-generated? Apr 17 15:11:53 in a sealed box Apr 17 15:13:37 l4cr0ss, "defconfig" is "generated" by scripts in the kernel build process... Apr 17 15:14:12 in that diff, you just see the delta on what i changed.. Apr 17 15:17:54 rcn-ee: so this is where you actually changed the config: https://github.com/RobertCNelson/ti-linux-kernel-dev/blob/91b44dd618b6a4f0d44aa00a18e6195292fd4c0d/tools/config-checker.sh Apr 17 15:18:03 rcn-ee: and you changed it from "module" to "enable' Apr 17 15:19:07 neat Apr 17 15:19:24 l4cr0ss, i actually made the change in "make ARCH=arm menuconfig", which updated patches/defconfig and then i manually edited "tools/config-checker.sh" that way we don't "forget" the change. ;) Apr 17 15:19:44 nothing worse then breaking something we fixed a few months back .;) Apr 17 15:26:43 rcn-ee ok installed 3.14 from link Apr 17 15:26:57 rcn-ee always no suspend possibility Apr 17 15:27:10 do you have any more suggest? Apr 17 15:27:26 "echo mem > /sys/power/state" ? Apr 17 15:28:57 ok suspend mode Apr 17 15:29:00 thx Apr 17 15:29:17 rcn-ee but now i can't wake up Apr 17 15:29:46 what wakup method did you tell it to look for? Apr 17 15:30:07 now i tried Apr 17 15:30:16 "echo mem > /sys/power/state" Apr 17 15:30:37 but after i will need hibernate Apr 17 15:31:11 skizz0to, it's up to you to setup "hibernate", we got "suspend" working for you.. Apr 17 15:31:19 yes of course Apr 17 15:31:28 my first attempt was about Apr 17 15:31:36 suspend (more simple) Apr 17 15:31:43 after i will configure for hibernate Apr 17 15:32:18 skizz0to, hibernate needs: ramdump > file, u-boot needs to recoginze it... Lots of fun stuff you need to write up... ;) Apr 17 15:32:32 yes i know Apr 17 15:32:59 but i need do freeeze complitely my sistem without powersupply Apr 17 15:33:17 and then restart so hibernate will be ok Apr 17 15:33:31 bigger battery? Apr 17 15:34:02 my solution is quite wearable Apr 17 15:34:14 like a "big watch" Apr 17 15:34:36 and people using will be w/o supply for a long while Apr 17 15:35:09 * can't wait for the watch fad to end... Apr 17 16:04:42 rcn-ee: hi I sent the suggested dnsmasq chnage in the forum Apr 17 16:05:17 and got a prototype of the dual wireless config solution Apr 17 16:09:35 cityLights, i've added it to a package "bb-customizations" this morning: https://github.com/rcn-ee/repos/blob/master/bb-customizations/suite/jessie/debian/usb0-dhcp Apr 17 16:10:01 sweet Apr 17 16:10:06 (jessie only repo right now, but i'll make things easier to udpate. ;) ) Apr 17 16:10:24 next we will need to define it in connman Apr 17 16:10:33 cool! Apr 17 16:10:39 I can send a script to do that Apr 17 16:11:04 say, how many lines need I submit to get a credit? Apr 17 16:11:27 jkridner, found a bug in that "dtbo" update-initramfs, new version here: https://github.com/rcn-ee/repos/blob/master/bb-customizations/suite/jessie/debian/dtbo (it bombed on a non *.dtbo kernel v4.0.x) Apr 17 16:11:58 cityLights, if submit a patch i can git am, feel free to put your signed off on it. ;) Apr 17 16:12:20 sweet Apr 17 16:12:24 tome for me to go Apr 17 16:12:27 (make sure to put your copyright on the top, most people forget that..) Apr 17 16:13:03 i try to keep everything in my repo's x11-mit, so users can do anything they want with it.. Apr 17 16:21:44 rcn-ee: did you update the key on ubuntu side yet? Apr 17 16:22:48 nerdboy, yeah... "sudo apt-get install rcn-ee-keyring-archive'.. ;) Apr 17 16:23:36 shouldn't it get pulled in via "upgrade" too? Apr 17 16:24:04 it "should have"... but it turns out that package was less installed by default then i thought... Apr 17 16:24:30 so with a udev rule and init script GFX installs/works on gentoo rootfs Apr 17 16:32:25 oops Apr 17 16:32:33 * nerdboy forgot the modules Apr 17 16:33:28 rcn-ee: do you want to add gentoo to your sgx install script? Apr 17 16:34:18 nerdboy, sure.. just send a pull request here: https://github.com/RobertCNelson/stable-kernel/tree/master/3rdparty and it'll get synced everywhere.. ;) Apr 17 16:34:57 only thing is, lsb-release is not on the stage3 Apr 17 16:35:37 probably not high on their install list either... Apr 17 16:36:01 do you guys have? "cat /etc/gentoo_version" ? Apr 17 16:38:37 (lsb-release is really overkill..) Apr 17 16:41:00 * nerdboy enjoying Philly '76 cd bought at the dweezil show in ventura Apr 17 16:41:13 hello, has anyone had any trouble with beaglebone' network beeing nonresponsive after some time? Apr 17 16:41:48 jgborges what do you mean with "after some time"? Apr 17 16:42:22 and define "unresponsive" .. Apr 17 16:42:32 some arbitrary time... Apr 17 16:42:54 unresponsive: can't connect via ssh Apr 17 16:43:10 is "network" usb or ethernet? Apr 17 16:43:27 network: ethernet Apr 17 16:43:33 *phew* Apr 17 16:43:44 only a hard reset (power off) will work (not soft reset such as shutdown) Apr 17 16:44:38 jgborges, what kernel are you using? uname -r ? Apr 17 16:45:26 rcn-ee, kernel 3.12.10-ti2013.12.01 (Arago) Apr 17 16:45:50 whoah Apr 17 16:46:11 sorry i can't help with that one.. i'd bug the e2e.com guys as ti itself really only used 3.12.x Apr 17 16:47:03 yeah, I believe the kernel (or some application) is putting something to sleep and can't bring it back Apr 17 16:47:07 jgborges .. any particular reason you're not on a 3.8 or mainline branch? Apr 17 16:48:29 jgborges, on v3.14.x we ran into an issues with pm-firmware + cpuidle = network slows to a random (125K/s - 125K/Min) pace... (it's now fixed in v3.14-ti) but it still may remain on v3.12.x.. Apr 17 16:48:53 rcn-ee .. patches perhaps? Apr 17 16:49:46 http://git.ti.com/gitweb/?p=ti-linux-kernel/ti-linux-kernel.git;a=commit;h=dd1af75f2773ffb2060aaad51e04d23fce0cddd1 Apr 17 16:49:57 +1 :) Apr 17 16:50:55 rcn-ee, thanks I will look it up Apr 17 17:06:04 rcn-ee: E: Unable to locate package rcn-ee-keyring-archive Apr 17 17:06:34 sorry, "sudo apt-get install rcn-ee-archive-keyring" ; ) Apr 17 17:08:57 so weston on ubuntu doesn't like the egl/dri setup Apr 17 17:09:22 should it work with TI kernel? Apr 17 17:09:29 i haven't got it to work on either ubuntu/debian, with v3.14.x... Apr 17 17:09:47 3.18.5-bone1 right now Apr 17 17:09:57 does it work with any kernel? Apr 17 17:10:28 sgx - egl - weston - ubuntu/debian ... just haven't got it to work yet. ;) Apr 17 17:10:48 because weston is to old in debian? Apr 17 17:11:17 well the version in the sdk ti uses is even older... Apr 17 17:11:33 but i think it was only tested on android's egl... Apr 17 17:11:33 ah okay its working there Apr 17 17:11:39 proably Apr 17 17:11:56 proably for android stuff Apr 17 17:13:37 i think the gbm/mesa/blah stuff is still looking for tilcdc drm thing Apr 17 17:14:11 seems like it shoudl work with the right config/backends enabled Apr 17 17:14:17 there's a way to have it look elsewhere, just haven't looked into it in a while.. Apr 17 17:14:28 * nerdboy just has no idea what that is right now... Apr 17 17:14:57 TI... promised me something special... so i haven't been looking into it.. (fingers crossed) Apr 17 17:15:02 do i need to send you a sandwich? Apr 17 17:17:31 do your xf86video-omap commits mean the TI x stuff works at all? Apr 17 17:17:59 *stuff not install by sgx install script Apr 17 17:18:49 the xf86video-omap has an id lookup, so before that commit, it just errored out and said device not supported.. So with the commit "xf86video-omap" works.... Apr 17 17:19:11 in all glorious unaccereated video... ;) Apr 17 17:19:51 "works" in generic xorg build or with GFX pvr driver? Apr 17 17:21:15 * nerdboy needs more espresso for this crap... Apr 17 17:21:34 without the "pvr driver" it's just normal fbdev type drm driver.. so screen/etc works... Apr 17 17:21:58 "xf860video-omap" actually has a subdevice loader: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-omap/tree/src/omap_driver.c#n626 Apr 17 17:22:15 just never have personally had that "*.bin" to test/workwith/etc.. Apr 17 17:22:33 firmware blob? Apr 17 17:23:11 what ever you want to call the "2d/3d xorg pvr driver" crap we get from imgtec... Apr 17 17:23:23 so right now i have mesa egl/gles/qt5 build on gentoo card Apr 17 17:23:45 did you enable "eglfs" in your qt5 buidl? Apr 17 17:24:00 will the pvr/omaplfb kernel drivers do anything for me with gfk runtime gl stuff? Apr 17 17:24:04 yes Apr 17 17:24:22 *without ti gfx stuff Apr 17 17:24:30 then as long as you start qt5 appl with "--platform eglfs" it should work with the ti sgx driver.. Apr 17 17:25:10 just the driver without old libegl stuff? Apr 17 17:25:32 (all the ti/sgx lib crap.) Apr 17 17:25:40 khronos headers a pain in the ... Apr 17 17:27:28 the ti libgl* stuff has some conflicts with mesa egl/gles, not to mention api breakage Apr 17 17:28:04 got any idea what versions of mesa/xorg might be close enough? Apr 17 17:29:20 * nerdboy keeps hoping xorg/mesa bleeding edge is converging on something... Apr 17 17:29:28 qt's eglfs, is a cheap replacement for xorg... so technically, you don't need xorg/mesa.. Apr 17 17:30:18 then should qtubuntu crap out? that one didn't seem very happy... Apr 17 17:30:54 only embedded systems build for "eglfs" it's disabled in debian/ubuntu by default.. Apr 17 17:31:21 isn't qtubuntu pushing at mobile stuff? Apr 17 17:31:34 as in tablets/phones Apr 17 17:31:48 don't they have qcom's support? thus drivers? Apr 17 17:31:56 no idea Apr 17 17:31:59 they might be useing freedreno too.. Apr 17 17:32:13 i'm just installing stuff on your rootfs Apr 17 17:32:37 seems like you need more (rebuilt) packages in your repo Apr 17 17:33:21 i did that for qt 5.4.1 a few weeks back. lots of problems i back tracked.. I'll look again in two weeks when stretch opens up as qt 5.4.1 will be default in that.. Apr 17 17:33:48 is that omap ppa on ubuntu omap4 only? kinda seems like it... Apr 17 17:34:06 i've never used that.. Apr 17 17:34:31 nothing new for a while either, latest was precise i think Apr 17 17:35:06 oh that's dead... (pandaboard) they "may" push updates, but no one is behind it anymore.. Apr 17 18:01:07 are you talkign about building qt5 against the ti sdk with no mesa/xorg? Apr 17 18:02:57 hi guys i have a spi device hooked up how i can check to see if it is connected properly. Im not sure if there are tools available like there are for i2c to make this easier Apr 17 18:04:47 do you see spi stuff under /sys/bus/spi? Apr 17 18:10:19 i see my spi devices under dev Apr 17 18:25:32 sys should show drivers/devices and other stuff Apr 17 18:27:57 mistawright: other tools would mostly depend on what's on the spi bus Apr 17 18:33:53 yeah i was just wondering why i couldnt get arduplane to start I had the pru stuff working but couldnt get passed some checks. it does seem to react differently with my cape connected and disconnected so it would seem i probably soldered up the mpu9250 correctly Apr 17 18:34:39 did you try the i2c interface? Apr 17 18:46:33 apparently you have to use -r on beaglebone, as in "i2cdetect -y -r " Apr 17 18:46:55 * nerdboy has no such spi tools Apr 17 19:29:05 Hey, I'm trying to bring up a BBB with a 3.14 series kernel and I'm getting this intermittent boot failure, ~75% of the time. When it happens, the boot process continues but I think udev fails to start and systemd hangs forever. Pastebin: Apr 17 19:29:09 http://pastebin.com/JhZ0UyHE Apr 17 19:30:02 limbrik, can you share your .config? Apr 17 19:30:03 irq 30 seems to be associated with i2c2? But it doesn't matter whether or not i2c2 is enabled in devicetree Apr 17 19:30:21 Sure, just a minute Apr 17 19:33:42 rcn-ee: https://gist.github.com/kaukeb/c3f8796bd21b57dcf3fa Apr 17 19:38:37 limbrik, nothing obvious on i2c, btw, you don't need pci as you have dra7xx disabled.. Apr 17 19:40:08 oh you might want "CONFIG_EEPROM_AT24=y"... its' for the board eeprom, i don't remember if meta-ti's *.dts has that already setup by default.. Apr 17 19:41:25 rcn-ee: Thanks, will do. Config is pretty sloppy, probably lots of stuff I don't need Apr 17 19:42:42 rcn-ee: I guess i2c2 is supposed to be for cape EEPROMs? I have no capes attached, can't imagine why I'm getting in interrupt 30. Unless I'm totally barking up the wrong tree... Apr 17 19:43:59 my only thoughts on that, since it's missing CONFIG_EEPROM_AT24, it's still trying to connect to the eeprom that's not there. Apr 17 19:44:23 btw, for reference usages, here's the kitchen sink config we are using for bb.org: https://github.com/RobertCNelson/ti-linux-kernel-dev/blob/ti-linux-3.14.y/patches/defconfig Apr 17 19:45:15 rcn-ee: Thanks! I'll do some testing and get back to you Apr 17 19:45:55 the other thought, how old is your u-boot? limbrik Apr 17 19:49:05 rcn-ee: v2015.04-rc1 from ti-u-boot Apr 17 19:50:57 okay, that should be fine, was thinking it might have been a really old one, maybe left something in an odd state.. Apr 17 19:51:10 rcn-ee: I have just read this thread https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/beagleboard/sjJJWe2dkb4 - does this mean that the BB-VIEW LCD7 cape will work out of the box with a recent ti kernel from rcn-ee.com/deb ? Apr 17 19:52:39 Chrille, i got that hardware this far on 3.14: http://elinux.org/Beagleboard:Capes_3.8_to_3.14#bb-view-43 (7 and the 4.3 are simlarish..) but someone needs to fix the red <-> blue color "swap"... Apr 17 19:53:36 I found that as well, and got a bit confused - so it means that I'm still stock with the patches towards 3.8 for a fully working display? Apr 17 19:54:45 Yeap... till someone rewrites Scott's 3rd patch.. btw it's best to personally rebuild our 3.8: as you need to enable his patches: https://github.com/RobertCNelson/bb-kernel/blob/am33x-v3.8/patch.sh#L1027 Apr 17 19:54:52 (they broke all the other lcd's..) Apr 17 19:55:58 I did build a 3.8 kernel with the patches when I got the display. Now it's been sitting on a shelf for a year or so, and was just wondering if the support have improved Apr 17 19:57:23 we just need someone more familar in the drm layer, i got mostly confused, and just stopped. But that's the only thing missing on v3.14.x, everything else on the cape works.. Apr 17 20:17:02 what is the absolute minimum current a am335x will draw if you turn everything off and go into the lowest power mode? Apr 17 20:47:09 Hey all, i recently bought a rev c beaglebone black and have it connected to my laptop. I installed putty and have it running, but for some reason my beaglebone does not have any internet connection (when i ping google i get no response. Can someone help me out here? Apr 17 20:51:52 Namikaze_, connected over the usb interface? did you setup internet sharing on your host and echo "8.8.8.8" > /etc/resolv.conf Apr 17 20:52:16 Namikaze_ - try this: http://robotic-controls.com/learn/beaglebone/beaglebone-internet-over-usb-only Apr 17 20:54:58 yea connected over usb, checking the internet setup now and will check the link next Apr 17 20:55:42 Namikaze_ - coolio. Apr 17 21:08:08 after routing to a new default gateway on my beaglebone, I seem to be unable to connect to it via putty Apr 17 21:09:10 i routed to 192.168.7.1 Apr 17 21:09:32 and then putty keps giving a network connection timeout Apr 17 21:16:22 Namikaze_ - i have had a hard time making the usb-ip-network connection also, but i'm on a chromebook where all necessary things that need to be open in the OS may not be. Apr 17 21:16:38 what did you route it to and why? Apr 17 21:18:43 that's the board's ip number by default, not a gateway Apr 17 21:21:58 run "route" Apr 17 21:22:22 and "iptables -L -t nat" Apr 17 22:47:12 If anyone recalls my problem from earielr, I have this unhandled IRQ 30 on boot... Apr 17 22:47:17 Turns out IRQ 30 is edma_error, not anything to do with i2c2 like I thought. I think I've found an LKML thread documenting the exact problem (UART issue) Apr 17 22:47:26 https://lkml.org/lkml/2014/9/12/149 Apr 17 23:17:33 Anyone have a suggestion for Robotic Software ? I was looking at ROS Apr 18 00:21:44 I have a motor driver with a deadman's switch internally pulled to 5V. I'd like it to ground should the BBB lose power or reset. I thought hooking it to SYS_5V would do it but it appears to remain at 5V even when the BBB is powered off. Any ideas without requiring additional components? Apr 18 00:45:50 egan: Did you consider using a GPIO with an external pulldown resistor? I think they're all high-Z at reset Apr 18 01:12:27 limbrik: I'm not seeing quite how to do that because of the required level-shifting to make the 5V line compatible with the 3.3V GPIO. Apr 18 01:13:55 egan: of course, never mind. carry on then **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sat Apr 18 02:59:59 2015
