**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Fri Aug 21 02:59:58 2015 Aug 21 03:06:58 i have an old beagleboard C2 running 2.6.32.9-x9.1, and debian userspace. i'm worried that upgrading the userspace will require a newer kernel. a) does anyone know if that isn't true b) does anyone know where to get a current kernel for my device? Aug 21 14:25:13 hey i am new to beaglebone black i had install all driver .yesturday my beaglebone is detected on mac .but today it is not detected plzzz help Aug 21 14:59:31 tell me any one Aug 21 14:59:38 vivek Aug 21 15:03:23 hello everyone Aug 21 15:06:42 I have been successfully backing up and restoring my bbb rev c using a procedure based on http://elinux.org/BeagleBone_Black_Extracting_eMMC_contents. I then started to restore to several bbbs and I having trouble. Many of them are not booting... Aug 21 15:10:00 When I watched the serial traffic during one of these restores, I noticed that I was getting the "no space left" error. This confused me since my system was only using about 1.5GB and I'm restoring to 4GB drives. I realized that when the image is decompressed it is just under 4GB. Then I was wondering, could small variations in the size of my bbb drives be causing this issue?.. Aug 21 15:12:30 I looked at the partition information of two successfully restored drives and was surprised to find that they didn't match. On one, the two boot partitions are 1MB, and on the other, they are 2MB. This is despite the fact that I am backing up and restoring the raw drive, not individual partitions. Aug 21 15:14:02 Does anyone have clues as to what could be going wrong? Also, is there a way to truncate a bunch of the empty space from my uncompressed image if that might fix the "no space left" issue? Aug 21 15:16:05 I should also mention that I can successfully restore from a clean flasher from elinux.org which is relatively small, hence the reason I'm wondering if the issue is the size of my image. Aug 21 15:16:34 carbonizer: differenc CHS settings? Aug 21 15:17:17 CHS? Aug 21 15:19:17 cylinder head sector Aug 21 15:19:54 old lingo, from an era long long ago, in galaxy far far away Aug 21 15:20:19 is that something that might change between two rev Cs? Aug 21 15:20:30 er.. Aug 21 15:20:42 google for what that means and where it comes from Aug 21 15:27:22 ok so on one I have... Aug 21 15:27:37 Disk /dev/mmcblk0: 3925 MB, 3925868544 bytes Aug 21 15:27:37 4 heads, 16 sectors/track, 119808 cylinders, total 7667712 sectors Aug 21 15:27:56 and the other... Aug 21 15:28:00 Disk /dev/mmcblk0: 3867 MB, 3867148288 bytes Aug 21 15:28:00 4 heads, 16 sectors/track, 118016 cylinders, total 7553024 sectors Aug 21 15:29:09 so should I expect that if I made a full backup of the first, I would fail to restore to the second based on those size difference? Aug 21 15:30:32 for what it is worth, larger drive has the 1MB boot partitions and the smaller one has the 2MB partitions Aug 21 17:37:31 i have an old beagleboard C2 running 2.6.32.9-x9.1, and debian userspace. i'm worried that upgrading the userspace will require a newer kernel. a) does anyone know if that isn't true b) does anyone know where to get a current kernel for my device? Aug 21 18:11:37 nlewycky, new images are here https://rcn-ee.com/rootfs/bb.org/ Aug 21 18:37:38 Hi, is there a comparable command in bonescript to arduino's delayMicrosecons? Aug 21 18:54:47 <[Butch]> ct360: Since node (and bonescript) is event driven, there's really no good way to just sleep for some amount of time. Aug 21 20:47:13 is beagleboard support in kernel.org kernels? (if not, any particular reason why?) Aug 21 21:10:19 As a general point - board support involves a lot of patches to the kernel. Aug 21 21:10:36 Each individual patch has to be submitted to the kernel maintainer in that area and approved. Aug 21 21:10:41 This can be a _lot_ of work. Aug 21 21:10:54 And increases workload maintaining the kernel Aug 21 21:36:03 SpeedEvil: thanks Aug 21 21:56:18 I think the major thing left out of the mainline kernel is the capemanager, and there is progress on that Aug 21 21:56:38 but I have heard reports of people using mainline kernels on it Aug 21 21:56:56 your milage may vary, no warranty express or implied ;) Aug 21 21:57:15 nlewycky: ^ **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sat Aug 22 02:59:58 2015
