Oct 10 16:43:02 that's a debian question. in general using apt/apt-get Oct 10 16:44:53 tbr: use a standard package manager? Oct 10 16:45:46 yes Oct 10 16:45:50 it's debian Oct 10 16:47:01 tbr:okay Oct 10 16:47:03 and also, if I need to recompile a kernel, know a good tutorial? Oct 10 16:50:28 https://eewiki.net/display/linuxonarm/BeagleBone+Black Oct 10 16:50:59 tbr:okay, very thanks Oct 10 17:55:49 Hi, I am looking for 14.04 ubuntu with 3.8 kernel for BBB. Does anyone have an idea where to find it? I couldnt locate it Oct 10 18:00:49 https://eewiki.net/display/linuxonarm/BeagleBone+Black#BeagleBoneBlack-Ubuntu14.04LTS (please read the _whole_ page) Oct 10 18:08:52 orhere http://elinux.org/BeagleBoardUbuntu#Ubuntu_.2814.04.3.29 Oct 10 18:11:02 or this http://elinux.org/BeagleBoardUbuntu#eMMC:_BeagleBone_Black.2FGreen Oct 10 18:12:33 thank you, just what I see all of them uses 4.1 Oct 10 18:24:34 Justas: 4.1 works well, why would you want 3.8? (I'm sure you could try and retrofit it) Oct 10 18:29:19 It might sound weird, but the system we were building was on 3.8 and someone did something to original image and now cannot locate it. I have checked out 4.1, however I am missing bluez package in apt, tried to build from source it crashes my bluetooth adapter. with 3.8 it works perfect Oct 10 18:33:20 and I cannot make part of network with 3.8 kernel + bluez4 and other part 4.1 + bluez5, not my decision. That is main reason looking for stable 3.8 Oct 10 18:33:26 but will try to build it somehow :) Oct 10 18:36:15 there might even be a deb package in the rcn repositories Oct 10 18:46:43 look out for Wheezy repo's .. avoid the Jessie ones if you want to keep older stuff .. Oct 10 18:50:06 and in general seems that 3.8 runs better than 4.1, or is it just me? :) Oct 10 18:55:59 3.8 images are still maintained by rcn-ee and debs are available for jessie and stretch Oct 10 18:57:32 most recent is 3.8.13-bone78, released 15 days ago Oct 10 18:59:01 and I disagree with veremit, if your stuff works on jessie then make that transition, wheezy is obsolete Oct 10 19:00:18 oh, he left Oct 10 19:02:42 I really need to write an irssi script that blocks most of the join/quit spam but shows it if they spoke less than n lines ago Oct 10 19:04:04 lol, omap5 has a padconf setting "Glitch Gobbler" Oct 10 19:13:39 wheezy is older than ancient .. I Agree , but sometimes you just gotta go with the prehistoric .. Oct 10 19:14:00 And I know bluez5 has issues Oct 10 19:14:22 ah, ok that changes things Oct 10 19:14:32 since a 3.8 kernel is in itself not a reason to use wheezy Oct 10 19:21:09 kernel version is normally divorced from the release anyway since you usually get a couple of options at least Oct 10 19:21:27 being a gentoo user .. there IS no 'standard' release version **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sun Oct 11 02:59:58 2015
