**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Mon May 15 03:00:04 2017 May 15 12:35:33 hello everyone! Is there Yocto support for the new beaglebone black wireless? May 15 12:36:14 or do I have to clone torvald's kernel and build it outside yocto? May 15 12:36:26 thanks so much in advance! :D May 15 23:37:21 Just received my BB Blue. First time I plugged it into USB, I got a mass storage device I could mount. Came back to it later, and my laptop doesn't see it anymore. lsusb shows nothing. dmesg shows nothing when I plug and unplug it. LEDs blink on the board itself. It seems to go through a startup sequence if I plug it in or hit reset. After a while, only user LED 0 blinks. May 15 23:39:08 ari__: it should also have an access point, have you tried connecting by wifi? May 15 23:40:50 I understand that AP should be something like BeagleBoneXXX. My laptop sees nothing with this name May 15 23:41:36 I might have disabled my AP, let me check... May 15 23:41:50 thank you May 15 23:42:10 did you ever see a USB ethernet device show up? May 15 23:42:42 i went looking for it, but couldn't see one. and then i realized the mass storage was gone, too May 15 23:42:49 ISTR some problems with the USB ethernet device before I got it to connect to my home wifi access point May 15 23:43:50 I must have disabled the AP on mine, I don't see it up May 15 23:44:27 i could read an html page off the mass storage, but when i tried to HTTP GET 168.192.7.2, there was no response and the mass storage was gone too May 15 23:44:41 that's frustrating May 15 23:44:42 is there another way to connect to the board? May 15 23:45:26 is it possible my laptop is the problem? May 15 23:45:35 I'm the blind leading the blind here, to be clear May 15 23:45:51 Might try booting of a fresh install µSD? May 15 23:46:30 one of the uarts might be connected as a serial console May 15 23:47:11 there's an agetty running on /dev/ttyGS0 May 15 23:48:37 Your blindness is better than mine :=) I feel like I'm missing something simple. I don't have an SD card handy, could be a useful test. May 15 23:49:30 Where does ttyGSO come out? Is it one of the 1.25mm pitch connectors? May 15 23:50:59 https://github.com/beagleboard/beaglebone-blue/tree/master/docs has https://github.com/beagleboard/beaglebone-blue/blob/master/docs/BeagleBone_Blue_ShortSpec.pdf which if ttyGS0 is GP0 it would be the one of the 6-pin JST-SH connectors right under the canbus connector May 15 23:51:33 it has JTAG too via 7 pads on the bottom, if you have JTAG available May 15 23:52:31 but I don't know what pin is which on the 6-pin JST-SH connectors, and that's even if I'm right May 15 23:52:42 :=) May 15 23:52:44 the BBBL docs seem to be in early days still :) May 15 23:53:32 I'd start with µSD if I had those symptoms, except you say you don't have one handy, which makes that hard ;) May 15 23:53:47 I can buy one May 15 23:55:17 is there a mailing list or a forum where i can look for answers? May 15 23:55:21 yes May 15 23:55:30 https://groups.google.com/forum/#!categories/beagleboard/beaglebone-blue May 15 23:55:39 it's light on topics so far May 15 23:56:11 I think I've seen jkridner suggest spelling out "BeagleBone Blue" rather than abbreviating "BBBL" in posts May 15 23:56:14 thank you May 15 23:56:52 it requires invite being approved; mine was approved the following morning US time when I applied in the evening May 15 23:58:00 my first BBBL being dead was my own fault; I crossed power wires to the 12V power input and let the magic smoke out of the charging IC. The second one I've been a bit more careful with :) May 15 23:59:55 thank you mkj. i'm reading the google group May 16 00:01:30 why did you choose the blue vs a black + motor support + sensors? May 16 00:01:39 you can try reinserting the magic smoke and using a piece of tape to hold it in place May 16 00:01:58 zmatt: I ran out of magic tape ;) May 16 00:02:20 (be sure to use high-quality replacement magic smoke if you've lost the original) May 16 00:02:49 ds2: *I* chose it for integrated battery charging, motor controllers, IMU, and wireless in a small package May 16 00:03:25 mkj: so size was the driving factor for you? May 16 00:04:22 zmatt: size, integration, total cost, the package deal; my hope is that I can experiment out from a working hardware package May 16 00:04:29 s/zmatt/ds2 May 16 00:05:49 I didn't plan on killing the first one. Though it's not really entirely dead, just can't use it for battery or motor control because CHGIC is dead May 16 00:06:20 I could use it as a wireless BBB with limited IO which would be fine for some applications May 16 00:24:14 I see. May 16 00:35:04 i chose it for the integration. all the sensors are on the same board. i want to build my autonomous boat, not spend my days wiring together breakout boards **** ENDING LOGGING AT Tue May 16 03:00:02 2017
