**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Mon Jun 05 03:00:03 2017 Jun 05 06:20:53 Hi, I am using BBB for my project in which a zigbee module cc2538 is connected to USB host port. I want to restart the port (power off then power up). How can I do it using codes? Jun 05 06:57:18 hmm Jun 05 06:57:32 that should be possible Jun 05 06:57:54 not sure what the official way to do that is though Jun 05 06:59:53 I know you can manually cut port power (by muxing the pin that controls vbus power to gpio), but that has the side effect of confusing the driver badly enough that it needs to be unloaded and reloaded... which does seem to work, but I don't know if it always works or whether it might adversely affect system stability Jun 05 11:35:45 hello :) i am looking for a (semi) high performance singleboard, where its possible to modules such as screen, ethernet, and more. it must be opensource hardware Jun 05 11:35:50 is anyone heard of sdcard emulator , so i can dynamically mount a folder to BBB sdcard? Jun 05 11:35:56 do you have any ideas? Jun 05 19:12:25 I found something kinda weird when I tried to install chromium on the beaglebone. I have busybox installed and the options available for readlink don't include some of the options that ucf calls readlink with, so dpkg was giving me errors saying it couldn't install certain packages that had that command present in post-installation. Jun 05 19:14:08 I'm guessing I just have to install a "better" version of readlink and things will start working again, but has anyone else had this issue? Jun 05 19:47:08 uhh, readlink is normally provided by coreutils Jun 05 19:47:18 you don't have coreutils installed? Jun 05 19:51:21 actually that seems unlikely, it's marked as essential package Jun 05 19:52:55 having busybox installed does not make it available as anything other than "busybox" Jun 05 19:53:02 it's normally just used by initramfs Jun 05 19:54:27 so it sounds like you've been doing strange things to your system :P Jun 05 20:26:26 Hi!, any beaglebone expert who works freelance? Jun 05 20:26:53 we need some device tree tweak and remove some stuff like bone101 Jun 05 20:27:55 yes to the first, no to the second. Jun 05 20:29:43 where are you? Jun 05 20:30:04 hi phschafft, we use beaglebone for a commercial product and we need disable bone101 and a script to disable wifidog when wla0 it's conected Jun 05 20:30:21 otrab: where geographically are you? Jun 05 20:30:46 in USA and Chile Jun 05 20:30:57 now in Chile Jun 05 20:33:00 otrab: i do that sort of thing but outside the US is usually a lot of hassle for all parties :( Jun 05 20:33:17 otrab: esp. for smaller jobs where overhead is more then the work Jun 05 20:33:43 us too => https://github.com/VCTLabs Jun 05 20:34:23 what exactly are your requirements? are they written down somewhere? Jun 05 20:34:34 another BLE mystery solved... Jun 05 20:34:36 ds2 I understand, please consider that we already work with freelance and we can merge some task for make this more interesting Jun 05 20:34:39 * ds2 *hugs* the sniffer Jun 05 20:35:47 * nerdboy waiting for hardware delivery so has a little time... Jun 05 20:36:47 otrab: I don't think that I can help you. I'm sorry. Jun 05 20:37:20 ds2: intresting. my personal experience is that business is most complicated with clients from the USA. Jun 05 20:39:33 thanks phschafft Jun 05 20:40:54 otrab: reqs? Jun 05 20:41:29 nerboy, here the reqs https://anotepad.com/notes/h2tskq Jun 05 20:41:52 have you thought about building custom oe image or did you need debian? Jun 05 20:43:21 if mraa works and our python scripts (firmware), there should be no problem Jun 05 20:43:29 the regular rcn rootfs is pretty small to start out Jun 05 20:44:29 any link? I figure I'd have to install the wifi drivers. I'm using BBGW Jun 05 20:44:31 phschafft: not if you are located in the US Jun 05 20:44:36 could tweak the upstream image builder or use oe manifest for custom root Jun 05 20:44:52 green wireless? Jun 05 20:45:00 yes green wirelss Jun 05 20:45:02 phschafft: payment methods can get complex and $$ Jun 05 20:46:37 otrab: that's a pretty easy list Jun 05 20:46:49 otrab: how many are you making? Jun 05 20:47:42 Already over 100 machines working at customers' homes Jun 05 20:48:10 And now we want to make 40 a month Jun 05 20:49:10 For now I have not been able to do the list and I am concentrating on the new version of cape custom Jun 05 20:51:13 otrab: if you are hoping to ramp up, I suggest dropping the notion of capes. There are better ways of doing things Jun 05 20:52:19 ds2: Thanks for the advice, what do you recommend? Jun 05 20:52:50 otrab: treat the entire system like a custom board...this way when the volumes justify it; make it a custom board Jun 05 20:53:01 all those I2C ROMs is just plain silly Jun 05 20:53:55 ds2: hm. yes, US banks seem to be complicated when sending money outside the USA. Jun 05 20:54:12 phschafft: or receiving Jun 05 20:55:24 hm. Jun 05 20:55:36 ds2: a custom board based on what chip? you recommend make a pcb based on beaglebone design? Jun 05 20:55:38 yes. maybe. Jun 05 20:56:20 otrab: the same chip... when the volumes justify. Main point is to start with SW that treats it as a combined unit Jun 05 20:56:40 otrab: I can probally help with that Jun 05 20:57:37 ds2: any contact mail? Jun 05 20:57:47 otrab: PM's not working? Jun 05 20:58:05 otrab: use the contact info on my website - http://www.hy-research.com/ Jun 05 20:58:15 ok Jun 05 20:58:28 Gotta run right now Jun 05 21:00:38 ok, thanks ds2 Jun 05 21:09:31 hello Jun 05 21:11:18 otrab: there's a build manifest here with some config examples => https://github.com/VCTLabs/vct-beagleboard-bsp-platform Jun 05 21:12:04 well, config examples are in small-arm layer => https://github.com/sarnold/meta-small-arm-extra Jun 05 21:12:41 we used that to test meta-printing stuff on beaglebone Jun 05 21:15:09 i want to know if anyone has problems with the boot image that is not eMMC flasher Jun 05 21:16:55 which one? and no, not recently with iot image Jun 05 21:29:04 ok nerdboy, thanks for the tips Jun 05 21:44:25 since gsoc is starting i should probably update the kernel recipes... Jun 06 01:45:34 Does any one know how to enable smart_config on BeagleBoneBlack Wireless? Jun 06 02:18:25 o/ Jun 06 02:28:37 How can I force the board to boot from the SD card instead of internal? Jun 06 02:32:48 normally it should boot sdcard first by default Jun 06 02:33:08 as long as there's a bootable card in there... Jun 06 02:34:14 I mean, I wrote the Fedora Server image reccommended on the Pi page. Jun 06 02:35:40 When I ssh in, though, the terminal reports with the BeagleBoard.org Debian image. Jun 06 02:36:07 then the card/image is incorrect Jun 06 02:36:26 Any idea where I went wrong? Jun 06 02:36:39 fedora for pi? Jun 06 02:36:43 Yeah. Jun 06 02:36:55 Is that not a thing on BB? Jun 06 02:37:11 not if it's really a pi image Jun 06 02:37:21 completely different hardware Jun 06 02:37:52 except the armv7-ish part, but everything else is different Jun 06 02:37:52 Okay. Jun 06 02:43:11 nerdboy: amish :) I like it :D **** ENDING LOGGING AT Tue Jun 06 03:00:02 2017
