**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Wed Jan 03 03:00:01 2018 Jan 03 10:21:47 hi all any step by step procedure for yocto on BBB Jan 03 13:58:30 g_: see meta-bbb on github Jan 03 16:59:49 any write ups on booting X15 from SD card? Jan 03 18:02:24 stick card into slot, turn on? Jan 03 18:03:20 (assuming the boot jumpers are in their default position) Jan 03 19:40:30 Hi there. I was using my BBG for month using a sd card as boot device. Then I made an image of the root partition and wrote it on a new sd card. Now it won't boot from that new card. Any advice what could be wrong? I manually added the boot flag to the partition but it seems that was not enough. Jan 03 20:02:31 zmatt, seems that approach might be sane Jan 03 20:02:40 now just need to figure out how to make card Jan 03 20:13:22 oh, zmatt is here. hi Jan 03 20:19:42 NTQ: Make sure you take an image of the entire device /dev/sdx <-no number here. Otherwise you will lose the MLO and u-boot.img which reside in unpartitioned (Boot Record) space. Jan 03 20:23:09 everclear722: It's too late for that. I already formatted the original card. But I just found out that the BBG indeed booted from the sdcard, but something is wrong because dmesg now tells me it is a Beaglebone Green. Before it was recognized as Black and my pin-config script works correctly. Now it tells me thinks like this: Jan 03 20:23:09 Cannot write pinmux file: /sys/devices/platform/ocp/ocp*P8_30_pinmux/state Jan 03 20:28:19 now what do you have a BBG as you said before, ore a BBB? Jan 03 20:31:05 i would recommend you simply backup your files from the SD and write the original image to the SD and restore your backups that way you'll be back to status quo Jan 03 20:31:34 everclear722: It's complicated to explain. Yes, I have a BBG, but some months ago zmatt helps my to configure my debian here with a BBB kernel so that I was able to use pin-config to configure the pins on the BBG as inputs and outputs. I use the PRU to communicate with a FPGA. Jan 03 20:33:19 I started with a debian console image and changed many things with the help of zmatt to get it to work. Jan 03 20:33:52 and now you trashed your only copy - epic Jan 03 20:34:04 yes :-D Jan 03 20:34:22 I thought it would be enough to backup only that one visible partition Jan 03 20:35:17 the original SD card was 64 GB so I wanted to save time while copying ;-) Jan 03 20:35:30 until i read your post i didn't know either that current images don't create DOS partitions anymore to store MLO and u-boot.img Jan 03 20:36:37 you only need to store the first MB of the device in a separate file Jan 03 20:38:34 that said i don't feel qualified to help you restore the settings zmatt has helped you to do. Jan 03 21:23:02 I will try to find the necessary things in my IRC history :-) Jan 04 00:54:33 hmm? Jan 04 00:54:39 * zmatt reads scrollback Jan 04 00:55:28 oh, he left Jan 04 00:55:46 I guess getting an answer wasn't that important to him **** ENDING LOGGING AT Thu Jan 04 03:00:01 2018
