**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Sat Jan 25 02:59:59 2020 Jan 25 07:24:58 marex-cloud: second that, pcengines make nice devices, my apu2c4 running alpine linux is rock solid and does great job..good stuff Jan 25 14:40:37 I am about to try to brick my cosmo. I want to manualy update to v19 and root it to see if I can get rid of touchscreen insensitivity Jan 25 15:19:10 no spambots seen in the last few days, I guess we can now permanently allow non-registered users too, again Jan 25 15:19:47 rasva: does the touchscreen no longer register any pressure anymore? Jan 25 15:23:02 well it works, but if I do not hold cosmo by hand and just lay it on table, then it does not register touces at some parts of screen Jan 25 15:23:12 gemini does not have this issue Jan 25 15:23:30 if I hold cosmo in my hand, then it works properly Jan 25 15:23:43 so it seems like the sensitivity is set to some low level Jan 25 15:24:24 so I want to try if newer fw fixes that and if not if I can adjust th sensitivity somewhere Jan 25 15:24:33 probably in build.prop Jan 25 15:24:39 but for that I will need root Jan 25 15:25:34 more people seem to have this problem as I can see on indiegogo discussion Jan 25 15:40:25 nope Jan 25 15:40:54 I have now latest fw (version 19) and still the same Jan 25 18:31:38 I notice the accelerometer in my Cosmo is reporting borked values Jan 25 18:32:13 11.1 m/s^2 acceleration sitting on the table for a start Jan 25 18:32:49 and the axes don't respond properly to rotation either Jan 25 18:33:03 greguu: indeed, it's quite nice hardware (pcengines) Jan 25 18:34:47 is this just my unit? Jan 25 18:36:24 holding it vertical with the screen upside down in landscape results in measurements of 15 m/s^2 Jan 25 18:40:16 Shaking the phone seems to show that it's impossible to create Y-axis acceleration without reading spurious Z axis acceleration, although the reverse isn't true Jan 25 19:23:22 dTal: mine shows arounf 9,9 m/s^2 which is correct Jan 25 19:23:41 *around Jan 25 19:31:10 My brother in law sent me his cosmo. The screen is all borked. I think I have a hardware problem. How do I contact planet? I tried email with predictable results. they have a contact form but to goes nowhere. Jan 25 19:37:35 I think they are flooded with emails, I am afraid there si no other way apart waiting Jan 25 19:47:31 rasva: interesting, and that's independent of rotation? Jan 25 19:49:44 I'm thinking of going to london and trying to get someone to look at the thing. Jan 25 19:54:20 dTal: I will better make some screenshots, this will be fater to explain what it does on mine... Jan 25 19:55:03 Well it should read about 9.8 regardless of orientation - does it? Jan 25 19:56:22 dTal: it changes a bit, but the screenshots will explain why, just a moment, I use app called satstat from fdroid Jan 25 19:56:36 still, the firs value is a bit weird Jan 25 19:56:44 *first Jan 25 19:59:30 https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1mIndYbOmY99ZX3js5QjzEeH6qGZVbB_X?usp=sharing Jan 25 19:59:58 I'm also using SatStat Jan 25 20:00:11 Sensor Readout is also good Jan 25 20:00:22 first is cosmo sitting on table, second sitting on right side, third sitting on left side Jan 25 20:04:43 Interesting... yeah that's not right Jan 25 20:04:53 but in a different way than mine Jan 25 20:21:52 I will try it also with gemini.... Jan 25 20:27:18 well, it is about the same weird values, the firs value is 10,1 Jan 25 20:27:22 wrong... Jan 25 20:28:13 we have low cost phones wrapped in nice looking case Jan 25 20:29:04 my gemini for example had always bluetooth and wifi issues, I mean both were weak compared to for example iphone Jan 25 20:29:14 and were disconnecting randomly Jan 25 20:29:35 seems ok on my cosmo, but there I have this touchscreen thing Jan 25 20:31:20 I think it's a calibration issue Jan 25 20:31:31 the values seem about 2 N out for all axes Jan 25 20:32:43 true Jan 25 20:47:21 My offsets are about [2.05,-4.5,2.8] Jan 25 20:47:55 There's doubtless some nifty linear algebra one could use to do it exactly Jan 25 21:00:48 You know, I have been setting up this gemini with linux and android 8 and I have been typing on it for hours. The keyboard stinks. I have a cosmo sitting right next to it and cosmo has a pretty good keyboard. Jan 25 21:01:19 You would think that the keyboard would have been the one thing that they got right about the phone. Jan 25 21:01:30 how did they screw this up? Jan 25 21:01:46 I have a stack of folding keyboards that work better. Jan 25 22:55:18 what is the difference between gemini and cosmo keyboards? Jan 25 23:01:59 The deal with the gemini is that you have to press hard on the keys. They don't spring back very well. You have to hit the space bar exactly in the middle or it will not register. I also understand some people have a problem with the keys sticking. That hasn't happened to me. I frequently get the keys not registering when I hit them. Jan 26 00:25:01 If my Cosmo adventure doesn't end well, I'll just get one of those add-ons for phones that enable a 'second screen' and be done with it. Jan 26 00:25:31 Its essentially a display and a housing that fits the phone, presumeably bluetooth. Jan 26 00:25:59 Luckily I can take the hit for buying the Cosmo, not everyone can - and I understand the frustration that causes. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sun Jan 26 02:59:58 2020
