So, like I think I read somewhere, CODI indeed seems to be rootcause of many things... Which is kinda sad, but now I know Jul 07 09:00:26 I'd really like for the silver button to toggle codi on and off (so that it doesn't come back up by itself, only when I press the silver button again). Jul 07 09:00:47 (But last firmware I used was v19, my cosmo is still in london.) Jul 07 09:02:55 TauPan: indeed, that is even pretty much exactly what I already suggested to PLanet too Jul 07 09:03:52 Instead CODI being woken up almost 100% of the time (which is usecase with me and Riot messenger), it would blink led(s) until I press the magic silver bull...button Jul 07 09:04:04 (Also the damn cover display should not every accept touches when it's in the damn pocket, for *%!& sake.) Jul 07 09:05:22 What is also odd that it's exactly CODI that seems to behave like person tapping an screen when watching streaming services, exposing screen controls etc... and that CODI is the likely reason random "simconnector" crashes etc Jul 07 09:09:16 Even that would be more or less solved by the requirement of silver button Jul 07 09:10:03 Anyway, there seems to be something inherently wrong/odd in the tech aspect of whole CODI / communication with it :) Jul 07 09:10:39 While "rantrant", without CODI, so far I've been happy with Cosmo now, while obviously missing CODI when I'd realy like to glance it Jul 07 09:13:27 I think Cosmo is an instance of second system effect. That may be because I'm bitter that my device has spent most of its lifetime in repair so far. But Astro slide is really the right thing[TM]. However, I'd expect that one to have more than it's fair share of quirks as well, especially with the slide mechanism. Jul 07 09:26:58 I like both approaches in different senses, but CODI do need also to technically work, and indeed Astros slider needs not to be overengineered failure of an hinge-mechanims... it needs to be overengineered sturdy enough piece of an hinge-mech =) **** BEGIN LOGGING AT Tue Jul 07 10:15:41 2020 **** BEGIN LOGGING AT Tue Jul 07 11:21:56 2020 **** BEGIN LOGGING AT Tue Jul 07 13:53:31 2020 Jul 07 13:56:36 Anybody noticed there is V23 update available? "This version adds Cover Display Powersave setting in Cosmo Settings and includes further improvements and bugfixes" Jul 07 14:06:43 now I do :P Jul 07 14:16:58 Wouldn't that need a codi firmware update to work properly as well? Jul 07 14:21:05 Those all depends what it exactly fixes or does... AFAIK no need for CODI update for "only" turning it off or not waking it up at certain times Jul 07 14:24:17 haven't seen anything about CODI update, but it probably would only be available after that V23 is installed Jul 07 14:27:04 I know CODI still seems to wake up "on its own" when (usually) Riot has something for me... So at least the power saving didn't make that to sleep like we have wished... but we'll see =) Jul 07 14:30:55 I get blinking riot icon on CODI if there is something on Riot for me, but I don't have CODI turned off Jul 07 14:32:15 To be exact: when CODI is not "turned off" it keeps waking up like described... ofcourse when turned off it will not wake up like that, as it will not wake up at all... Jul 07 14:32:26 restart from CODI seems to be the only way I can wake up the inner screen 2-3 times a day, so don't want to turn CODI off because I don't know what the inner screen would do then Jul 07 14:34:03 I'm not sure what the problem with the inner screen is, since Cosmo still responds to ping and I think CODI itself wouldn't do that Jul 07 14:36:50 I have no that deep insight... All I know many of the issues went away when I disabled CODI... then Cosmo has been functioning just like any other android phone.... Jul 07 14:41:49 olmari: what problems did you have with codi ? Jul 07 14:42:56 that would mess with the usage of cosmo Jul 07 14:45:02 battery drained like all things always in use... "simprocessor" crashing and thus no calls and needing to input PIN-codes... wathing tube or any streaming behaved like someone tapping screen every 10 seconds or so... popping player controls etc Jul 07 14:45:25 all those disappeared after turning CODI off Jul 07 14:55:51 I've indeed expressed my idea about perfect use of CODI to planet... not waking up on it's own for almsot anything... only when I press the silver button then show stuff for the time it is usually staying woken up now... and ofcorse when osmeone clals, then wake up and show caller info... Jul 07 14:56:06 ..and ofcourse in general bugs should be gone, but even bug free all relates to non-needed power use Jul 07 15:13:02 So did anyone try v23 yet? Jul 07 15:14:24 i'm installing it now Jul 07 15:15:15 I have it running Jul 07 15:15:18 Can't really say much form this short time **** BEGIN LOGGING AT Tue Jul 07 17:49:54 2020 Jul 07 17:57:17 It would be nice if we had some insight into the design decisions that went into the cosmo. I remember thinking that two CPUs mean twice the problems back when this was first discussed. I think I even said we should have an E-Ink display run by the main CPU if we need one at all. TBH the gemini was a better design. Jul 07 18:01:58 Well... main display and cover display should be easy enough... I have no idea why CODI is done like it is now... But too late now.. Now I can only hope silly bugs will get sorted out eventually... ATM this is hald odd design decisions (in form of CODI waking up way too often for no real reason), and then generally things bugging plenty when CODI is enabled at all in general.. Thats mine short experience Jul 07 18:04:06 * Well... main display and cover display should be easy enough... I have no idea why CODI is done like it is now... But too late now..
