**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Sun Nov 10 02:59:58 2013 Nov 10 09:51:35 hi guys, how can i make all of my messages and sms read Nov 10 09:51:53 i have tons of unread messages Nov 10 09:59:37 what does a long yellow led color mean? I'm having trouble to boot my n900 Nov 10 09:59:39 :'( Nov 10 09:59:58 battery dead maybe? Nov 10 10:01:34 amospalla, sounds like "cannot boot - fallback h/w charging" Nov 10 10:02:26 chainsawbike: that is bad news, it even doesn't show thw growing white led that shows when you press power on Nov 10 10:02:57 i am assuming you get this light with it plugged in? Nov 10 10:04:08 chainsawbike: the yellow, yes Nov 10 10:05:23 connect -> appear instantly yellow light for 4-5 seconds, vibrate, nokia logo without backlight with yellow light in loop, these both alternate Nov 10 10:06:11 but it doesn't boot, does not respond to power button Nov 10 10:07:04 ~flatbatrecover Nov 10 10:07:05 Remove battery for 1 minute. Insert battery. Plug powered ***NOKIA WALLCHARGER*** to device. Watch steady amber. Let sit and charge. Do NOT try to boot. After 30 min, you got either a) a booted up N900, b) flashing amber which means you can boot, c) steady amber going off - in this case start over again with ~flatbatrecover. CAVEAT! Only works when ~rootfs is OK (no ~bootloop)!. Nov 10 10:08:22 chainsawbike: thanks Nov 10 10:08:34 if that doesn't work, I'll have to boot a mobile tomorrow :'( Nov 10 10:08:41 s/boot/buy Nov 10 10:10:29 it charges now, it was connected to usb hub, with wall charger it charges Nov 10 10:10:58 solid or blinking? Nov 10 10:11:05 blinking Nov 10 10:12:04 altough it continues with the nokia logo/vibration in loop mode Nov 10 10:12:31 but is charging, now it stopped the nokia logo loop Nov 10 10:12:37 :) Nov 10 10:13:38 anyway, internal disk on n900 is in bad state, and I don't have time to move emmc to a sd :(, I'll have to change it anytime soon Nov 10 10:16:08 thanks chainsawbike it is charging now, with maemo running Nov 10 13:06:37 chk Nov 10 13:06:52 00chk Nov 10 13:07:15 chk Nov 10 13:08:10 chk where you are typing Nov 10 14:48:25 after flashing my n900 i get a Netzworkconection error by connecting to my wlan not an authentification error! and without unencryptet Wlan i can connect. i checkt this with two different routers, same result. is there a knowen reason why my fresh n900 does not conect to wpa or wpa2 wlans, do i need to upgrade anything first? thx in advance Nov 10 15:17:02 no problems known, except for one weird authentication method of WLAN, that's related to windows and used in universities. I forgot the name, it's a strange thing about certs to install to the client device Nov 10 15:30:35 Win7Mac: you asked what HiFo could do to support neo900? Reward freemangordon and Pali for all the awesome work they're doing, so we see them around for a long time still Nov 10 15:32:07 while neo900 is a commercial project in the end and mustn't accept support from HiFo, FPTF is clearly a community driven project and I think that's *exactly* what council and HiFo _may_ and _should_ support Nov 10 15:34:04 Win7Mac: get those two guys a GTA04, a beagleboard, a monthly coke&pizza support payment, whatever is needed so they can do their "job" Nov 10 20:20:18 anyone using kde kontact touch on n900 and got syncing with caldav working? Nov 10 20:21:25 i installed the kde pim suit but don't have the option to create a caldav calnedar and all informations I found say that caldav is already included in kde pim nowadays ... Nov 10 20:48:47 ~pkg Nov 10 20:48:48 methinks pkg is http://maemo.org/packages/ Nov 10 22:42:19 DocScrutinizer05: do you know any good phone hardware issues troubleshooting channels/forums ? suffering with friend's HTC dying here Nov 10 22:44:57 ummm, only for Openmoko and N900 devices Nov 10 22:45:37 which doesn't mean others doesn't exist or even that they might be hard to find - I simply never searched for any such channel Nov 10 22:47:17 understandable :) Nov 10 22:47:27 sledges: no idea about channels but many htc dying are suffering bga soldering issues .. Nov 10 22:48:05 sounds like the one Nov 10 22:48:12 i took it all apart, and it booted! Nov 10 22:48:24 put it all back - same deady bootloop Nov 10 22:48:31 xes: ^ Nov 10 22:48:50 well, keep it apart :) Nov 10 22:49:00 jon_y: took apart again ofc right after Nov 10 22:49:06 no luck this time :{ Nov 10 22:49:20 shouldn't have combined it then Nov 10 22:49:53 :D yes, bring the exploded device to my mate tomorrow :)) Nov 10 22:50:31 also, trying not to let my hand off pressing the battery in place, sleepless night forecast :))) Nov 10 22:57:51 omg Nov 10 22:59:13 hmmmm Nov 10 22:59:19 will just try to put it in the oven Nov 10 22:59:24 and afterwards into the freezer compartment Nov 10 22:59:51 a good gas mark for the reference? :)) Nov 10 23:07:38 mmm, 6? ;) Nov 10 23:08:11 :)) Nov 10 23:08:42 when it's juices run clear you know it's done. Nov 10 23:09:27 i like it raw raw ooh lah lah Nov 10 23:10:20 mmm blue steak. Nov 11 00:01:57 operation 'frozen steak' didn't work, oh well, good night :) Nov 11 00:16:01 freezing doesn't help for sure Nov 11 00:18:30 250°C pot/pan with sand, heat that for 1h+ till it's absolutely equal temperature everywhere. Then place the PCB into the sand for ~5min, maybe 10, then take out of the oven and let cool it in the sand for a few minutes, then place on a newspaper and cover with another newspaper Nov 11 00:32:13 ..and then try to get rid of the smell in the oven? :) Nov 11 00:37:09 well, I don't use oven for such jobs Nov 11 00:37:25 hehe Nov 11 00:37:51 this is what I've read in a german computer mag special issue about hw hacks Nov 11 00:38:23 I'd use a steel box and my reflow hot air tool Nov 11 00:39:09 or even just the reflow tool to specifically heat up the chips, but you need to pre-heat the PC for that to work Nov 11 00:39:42 PCB* Nov 11 00:56:18 ideally you find a electronics lab shop that can reflow the thing for you, shouldn't cost more than 1h of craftsmanship fees Nov 11 00:56:51 which otoh is maybe already too much in relation to the value of the used HTC Nov 11 01:05:13 nothing like a pizza with pcb and solder taste :p Nov 11 01:07:59 yeah Nov 11 01:08:18 add a bit of scorched newspaper Nov 11 01:09:38 when I been 7 years old, I found out that old bread rolls could get 'recycled' when you wrap them into wet paper before placing them in the oven. I used newspaper which gave a funny tase Nov 11 01:10:05 taste even Nov 11 01:10:51 been quite exciting since I didn't know if the paper might catch fire in the oven Nov 11 01:11:17 (now I'm sure it couldn't, but back when I been 7 y o...) Nov 11 01:12:16 lol Nov 11 01:12:46 well dont know about the oven Nov 11 01:13:03 but my uncle who was like a former bakery helper Nov 11 01:13:26 swore that the best way to keep stuff crunchy when put in the freezer or fridge Nov 11 01:13:30 is wrap in newspaper Nov 11 01:14:01 no idea why though :) **** ENDING LOGGING AT Mon Nov 11 02:59:58 2013
