**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Fri Aug 02 03:01:07 2019 Aug 02 03:37:05 Apparently SpeedCrunch updates its history file (history.json) only when it cleanly exits, not after every statement, which could cause a significant loss to the persistent history if SpeedCrunch unexpectedly stops running, such as if it crashes or if the power to the computer is interrupted. I should ask the developer(s) to at least add an option to update the history file after every command if not to make this new behaviour unconditional. Aug 02 08:19:19 More efficient to work like that. Aug 02 10:49:37 ~wb Aug 02 10:49:37 thx Aug 02 12:05:27 Fahrplan blows chunks, not only the API to DB server is broken, also it doesn't know how to activate and access GPS anymore :-/ Aug 02 12:06:34 considering I helped significantly with how to design the GPS access in Fahrplan, this is kind of embarrassing to me Aug 02 12:08:43 Fahrplan been one of the killer apps on N900 for me Aug 02 12:15:30 GPStest gets a fix no problem at all Aug 02 12:16:15 sucks Aug 02 12:17:44 not talking to GPS is indeed very strange. missing deps maybe? Aug 02 12:18:17 no idea. modrana works flawlessly Aug 02 12:19:33 closing modrana the sat dish icon in systray vanishes. starting it shows. But starting Fahrplan zilch shows Aug 02 12:20:17 afk, driving Aug 02 12:21:06 i've never used Fahrplan (we don't have those kinds of services here), but I'd wonder if Fahrplan *did* activate GPS in the past Aug 02 12:26:26 May only call GPS on a lookup request? Aug 02 12:27:01 I have never used it either but I believe it used GPS to plan transport routes. Aug 02 15:24:11 argggghhhhh ! I 've just started my n900 again after 3 or 4 years unused ... I can't read UI anymore : font size is too small ! How can 3 or 4 years make someone age that much ? Aug 02 15:26:43 count the 3 or 4 years in days :) Aug 02 15:27:44 more seriously, I upgraded to the latest maemo-cssu, but is there any place with a changelog of what was accomplished on this platform since 21.2011.38-1Tmaemo12 (27.11.2017) ? Aug 02 15:29:54 CSSU is now frozen (or, dead) Aug 02 15:30:41 this means that all the work has been shifted towards maemo-leste ? Aug 02 15:31:07 is it usable as yet ? Aug 02 15:32:11 CSSU got frozen because backporting stuff got harder and harder for the small team :( Aug 02 15:32:22 Leste ... it's still Alpha. Aug 02 15:33:06 but coming along steadily, considering the size of the team :) Aug 02 15:33:13 alpha and actively developped or, just alpha ;) ? Aug 02 15:33:28 nice Aug 02 15:34:32 actively developed :p Aug 02 15:37:07 #maemo-leste Aug 02 15:40:09 thanks ! Aug 02 15:41:46 I have a n900 with non working phone functionality that I can use to test it during the summer Aug 02 17:07:21 no modem is prolly fine for leste Aug 02 19:42:28 >>I'd wonder if Fahrplan *did* activate GPS in the past<< It definitely did Aug 02 19:43:57 waited some time to give GPS a cjhance for a fix (don't know whether it checked precision as I suggested, or just cecked for a fix d-bus messgae or even just implemented a delay), the it enabled the "GPS" buttons Aug 02 19:44:57 and it stopped location service when you closed Fahrplan Aug 02 19:46:25 the purpose of GPS: "you" enter your current geo-coords and the DB server finds closest bus / subway stop Aug 02 19:47:45 >>after 3 or 4 years unused ... I can't read UI anymore : font size is too small ! << welcome to the club. I also can't read that stuff anymore without glasses Aug 02 19:48:17 and yes, that problem got MASSIVE during just 2 or 3 years for me Aug 02 19:54:48 what should those of us who still can see it do? Aug 02 19:55:45 never liked the nokia font tbh i have had buntu font for years much nicer on the eyes Aug 02 21:06:59 sicelo: I think you should keep accessability in mind when developing anything. In reply to what you shall do Aug 02 21:07:54 those low contrast tiny font designs are a PITA even with sharp eyesight Aug 03 01:25:15 I still have uncorrected vision at age 32 years but I feel like my eyesight is deteriorating but I keep procrastinating about having my eyesight tested again. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sat Aug 03 02:59:57 2019
