**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Sun Oct 04 02:59:57 2020 Oct 04 06:36:31 i shutdown n900 using the hardware key when it was playing a loud sound that couldn't be turned off. now it would ask for the lock key and then get stuck in the loading page. if i take out the battery and put it there again it would boot, but not for the second time if i reboot after that. Oct 04 06:36:36 could a process be opened, with the upper-hannd program giving it's input, and reading its output at the same time? Oct 04 07:21:00 yes Oct 04 07:21:48 oops, re-sent the wrong message Oct 04 07:22:11 fsck from leste says nothing is wrong with the partitions. i have flashed it once and don't want to install everything again. if the problem is figured out, i could restore my previous backups. Oct 04 07:24:09 it seems like it is something trivial that could be solved if some knowledge of what maemo does at boot is involved. Oct 04 08:13:12 you know its a linux? Oct 04 08:13:22 and you know you can see through scripts yourself? Oct 04 08:27:10 I cant work out what's wrong. leste boots but maemo doesn't? no idea Oct 04 08:27:38 or the sound thing never heard of that Oct 04 08:52:58 KotCzarny, yes. but i don't know everything about maemo and not everything is in the scripts and there is so much of it to study. how do i know what happens with a physical shutdown that will not damage the hardware but lock the boot (but still loading enough to bring a keypad for you to enter the password and it is solved for the first after you take out the battery but not for the times afer? Oct 04 08:54:03 that is black magic, i need to know a lot in order to solve it even though it is not a critical problem. Oct 04 08:54:28 do you know the lock code? Oct 04 08:54:49 ~lockcode Oct 04 08:54:49 [lockcode] http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=524522#post524522 Oct 04 08:56:37 It's advised to know the lock code because you could "secure device" and then be locked out Oct 04 09:23:52 sixwheeledbeast, i know the lock code and i enter it and it is accepted. it just stays on the screen with dots forever after that Oct 04 09:25:54 ~bootloop Oct 04 09:25:54 bootloop is probably when your device has broken rootfilesystem, so during reboot it fails on some service startup or kernel module load and thus reboots. This *drains* battery! And you can't reflash to stop bootloop when battery is drained. Recharge your battery by other means before reflashing. E.g. using ~rescueOS. Or external charger or BL-5J compatible other device. Oct 04 09:28:10 ~rescueOS Oct 04 09:28:10 [rescueos] http://n900.quitesimple.org/rescueOS/ Oct 04 10:25:42 what is a common reason games fail to initialize their windows in maemo leste? (i am using allegro5 as backend if that helps) Oct 04 10:51:05 so i might be the only one who doesn't game on his devices :p Oct 04 10:54:06 even I tried a bit :) Oct 04 11:40:11 what's a game? Oct 04 11:48:16 touch rarely lends itself to anything more than mind-numbing constant interaction type "games" Oct 04 11:49:51 n900 has a keyboard ;) Oct 04 11:50:40 2048 is probably the only thing I can think of with some skill. Oh and if anyone wants to port that to leste best to use the upstream 2048-qt version not the qml version I hacked from harmattan to work in maemo. Oct 04 11:51:03 tbh my game experience would have probably been better had I found the gamepad-like rubbermade keyboard cap Oct 04 11:51:41 Oh, talking about 2048 and n900, I think our version had some kind of "bug" Oct 04 11:51:47 those clip over gamepad things where expensive for what they were Oct 04 11:51:53 at least I think it didn't behave like the original one Oct 04 11:52:22 yes it's not right hence why I say use 2048-qt Oct 04 11:52:28 ah :) Oct 04 11:53:46 Someone ported it to harmattan and I messed about and packaged that version for fremantle Oct 04 11:54:59 It has a tendency to only place new tiles top right IIRC, it's not the orignial code it's some qml rewrite. Oct 04 11:56:53 I think it was supposed to give 2,4(,8?) in a random fashion Oct 04 11:57:13 which made the game much "harder" (read: unpredictible) at some point Oct 04 11:57:28 but I might be wrong, that was years ago :) Oct 04 11:57:35 yer that also seems correct, its slightly easier in a couple of ways Oct 04 11:57:43 (the original one was harder, I meant) Oct 04 11:57:53  Oct 04 11:59:11 2048-qt in ubuntu repos seems to work like the original that's using 5.9.5 Oct 04 11:59:32 5.9.5? Oct 04 11:59:39 qt Oct 04 12:00:25 I suppose the issue is if it supports touch as on PC you use arrows Oct 04 12:08:14 sixwheeledbeast: this is what i wanted to port https://github.com/abakh/flappy-2048-nobrowser Oct 04 12:09:40 also gaming with n900 is one of the finest experiences with a GBA emulator Oct 04 12:15:02 I have no idea about Allegro or it's support, seems unnecessary Oct 04 12:32:18 does anyone remember if voice calls were working in Nemo Mobile back then? (I could possibly download images and test, but ... downloads cost me) Oct 04 12:42:08 nemo wiki seems to have a problem currently Oct 04 12:50:06 http://web.archive.org/web/2016*/https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Nemo/Status/Matrix Oct 04 13:36:33 yeah, we're looking at their PA stack Oct 04 14:58:19 sicelo: it worked at some point Oct 04 14:58:40 I think they even released an image with everything working apart from the battery Oct 04 14:58:58 but unfortunately I think I missed that release Oct 04 14:59:16 (and for some obscure reason they didn't like to keep stable images around .... not enough at least) **** ENDING LOGGING AT Mon Oct 05 02:59:57 2020
