May 24 14:27:57 summary: flashed 4.20, unslung, reboot, nothing, led-s look nice, but ping get's no response **** BEGIN LOGGING AT Tue May 24 14:51:25 2005 May 24 18:09:21 wow May 24 18:09:30 like, nine people? May 24 18:09:42 you expected more? May 24 18:09:48 hmmm May 24 18:09:54 a bit more, yes May 24 18:10:06 this is the question channel May 24 18:10:14 okay, I have a few :) May 24 18:10:25 not the development channel May 24 18:10:28 ;) May 24 18:10:30 samba 3.0 and Mac OS X May 24 18:10:47 I can't seem to get them to play together May 24 18:10:58 why not NFS with Mac OS X? May 24 18:11:16 because I would rather have SMB May 24 18:11:39 well, ok... May 24 18:11:56 so, here's the thing May 24 18:12:17 I can mount a share on my Fedora box just fine (smbmount or mount.cifs) May 24 18:12:33 but Mac OS X just complains about not being able to "find" the share May 24 18:12:50 tcpdump shows a lot of nmbd traffic as it tries to resolve May 24 18:13:00 and no success May 24 18:13:43 this been reported, anyone with a working config, etc? the Wiki one doesn't cut it for me, judicious assembly of a new one from my Fedora box neither May 24 18:14:29 I haven't heard of a problem May 24 18:15:05 neither had I, and I searched both mailing-list archives May 24 18:15:14 but then again, most of the OS X users I know are using nfs with OS X.... May 24 18:15:21 (as I am....) May 24 18:16:01 you are certainly free to post a question to the mailing list to see if someone else has at least tried the same configuration May 24 18:16:07 well, there has to be someone else with this out there... I saw a post from a Japanesa guy who upgraded his for UTF-8 May 24 18:16:35 I already did, sent it to the development list since yahoogroups refuses my postings to the general one May 24 18:17:10 well, then patience is your friend... :) May 24 18:17:22 wife is calling me to help with dishes... bbl May 24 18:17:31 k May 24 18:59:08 problem: reflashed unslung-4.20-beta, changed IP through the web interface, activated telnet through the web interface, unsling to disk1, then rebooted. May 24 18:59:45 Problem: no ready/status light, flashing green ethernet light, steady green disk1 light. no response to ping. May 24 19:00:33 question: is there something that overwrites the IP address in an unslung disk? May 24 19:14:50 there should be nothing in an unslung disk that overwrites the sysconf set IP address May 24 19:17:06 the only difference is an unslung disk... May 24 19:17:33 if you unplug the disk, and then power down and then back up, what happens? May 24 19:18:09 I'll check and report back later... HOUse is on :D May 24 19:18:25 I may not be here later... but ok May 24 19:18:44 if the device boots ok, then you have something wrong with the unslung disk May 24 19:20:02 okay... if it comes up good.. I'll back up the disk, and then reformat, start over. May 24 19:20:08 thanks for the help. May 24 22:28:38 my nslu2 won't fully unsling... rebooting doesn't mount the usb disk1 as root. help?
