**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Mon Jul 17 02:59:58 2006 Jul 17 03:40:07 hello everyone, could someone help me with an issue i'm having with my NFSLU2? I bought it from someone else, who installed the firmware, everything worked fine, then I had to go away on a trip for half a year, however when I got back and tried to set it up, i'm unable to get it working again. the ip address of the NSLU2 is 192.168.1.190 and the ip address of my LAN is 192.168.1.1. I would really appreciate if someone could offer some Jul 17 03:40:07 assistance, besides I'm not really that experienced concerning networks. the problem is that the NFSLU2 doesn't show up in Windows, or even being able to access it at 192.168.1.190. Jul 17 09:33:16 Is it porseble to activate the beep in the nslu2 ? Jul 17 09:51:55 MiKa_: yes, using /usr/bin/Set_Led Jul 17 09:52:09 MiKa_: http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Info/SetLedOptions Jul 17 10:02:54 Thx drif after my eat i wil look Jul 17 10:14:16 Thx drif it works..but the sound is to low.. to hear it in the living Jul 17 10:27:31 for which purpose you'd need the beep? Jul 17 10:33:31 i did not need it..but i hear a beep in the living and i was think it was the nslu2 yesterday it was the same..but i can not find from where it is Jul 17 10:33:59 so i was think it wa the nslu so that was why i want to activate to listen if it is the same Jul 17 10:34:51 sounds like a smoke alarm with emty battery`s Jul 17 10:41:15 did you try all the Set_Led beep options? Jul 17 10:41:41 because to me the sound is loud enough to hear from a distance :-\ Jul 17 10:43:08 how's your free disk space? if it's low (98-99% in use) your nslu2 should be making that sound alarm. Jul 17 10:52:55 No it is ok 20 % i guess .. and in /var/log/messages nothing special Jul 17 10:53:11 Set_led beep3 did i try Jul 17 10:53:26 but the sound i hear is much louder Jul 17 13:32:23 Start - run - telnet 193.202.115.241 Jul 17 13:34:31 towel.blinkenlights.nl ? Jul 17 13:35:23 wasn't that some ascii-art starwars? Jul 17 18:07:32 Hey Guys i been reading up on some of the trick for NSLU2 Jul 17 18:07:38 looks very kool Jul 17 18:08:02 im currious if Possible to run a IRC server off it Jul 17 18:08:11 along with normal file server Jul 17 20:09:44 hello Jul 17 20:10:11 today i am gonna format my 2 GB usbflashdrive in order to use i as main disk Jul 17 20:10:28 it says in the manual i should make 2 partitions into ext3 and one swap Jul 17 20:10:37 but what sizes should i do them in? Jul 17 20:11:16 unslung fw? Jul 17 20:11:25 OpenSlug Jul 17 20:12:03 so, those instructiosn aren't for openslug Jul 17 20:12:10 noop Jul 17 20:12:38 for openslug, you need at least one ext3 part, and one swap part, the size depends on your needs Jul 17 20:12:49 ok Jul 17 20:13:08 then i just make it 1900mb ext3 partions and a 100 mb swap Jul 17 20:13:27 i will move the swap later on to another drive Jul 17 20:13:36 will you compile software natively? Jul 17 20:13:49 ah, ok Jul 17 20:13:49 yes but i will have a external large drive Jul 17 20:13:59 but 100 mb will do it? Jul 17 20:14:06 as swap i mean? Jul 17 20:14:24 when you don't use a compiler atm, then yes, i assume Jul 17 20:15:05 hmm Jul 17 20:15:25 well i will compile stuff like samba and apache but it is ok if it takes time Jul 17 20:15:28 but, you could create a swap file at every time, when you need more swap Jul 17 20:16:03 yes my thought was to later on move the swap entirely onto the external drive later on Jul 17 20:16:12 that drive can hold 300 gb of data Jul 17 20:16:40 which is much more better for the mem stick Jul 17 20:18:18 yes Jul 17 20:21:00 ok Jul 17 20:21:01 i am done Jul 17 20:21:12 i will reboot my computer Jul 17 20:21:13 brb Jul 17 20:26:04 ok Jul 17 20:26:41 caplink811-log! i have now formated the drive -rebooted to osx and moved the flashdrive to my nslu2 and booted Jul 17 20:42:06 hmm Jul 17 20:42:25 i am using scp to copy the gentooslug stage 3 and the transfer speed is Jul 17 20:42:33 89kb/s Jul 17 20:42:35 that is slow... Jul 17 20:43:44 maybe, that depends on the keylength and the kind of algorism Jul 17 20:44:41 the flashing took 8 hours so i suppose the network got much to do with it Jul 17 20:45:20 you should try a direct connection with a crossover cable Jul 17 20:45:36 well you are deffinitly right about that part Jul 17 20:46:22 just as a comparison.. Jul 17 21:47:26 ~botsnack Jul 17 21:47:27 mwester-treo: aw, gee Jul 17 22:10:48 hmm Jul 17 22:11:02 this gentooslug sure takes loads of space... Jul 17 22:11:28 starting to wonder if debianslug is better.. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Tue Jul 18 02:59:56 2006
