**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Wed Aug 02 02:59:57 2006 Aug 02 14:51:15 Hi guys, I just found out about nslu2 today and have a few questions. Can I use hdds bigger than 250gb with it? I have read conflicting reports on this... Also, is it possible to connect a usb hub to one of the ports and then connect more hdds to that hub? One of my main uses for the slug would be to run screen+irssi on it and connect to it over ssh using putty from windows. That shouldn't... Aug 02 14:51:16 ...be a problem, right? Aug 02 15:00:13 Tobbe: the current theory seems to be that disks > 250GB cannot be reliably fsck'd in all cases. It seems that many people have been successful with disks > 250GB, you would just have to be prepared to handle any issues should they arise (access to another Linux system is helpful to correct/debug). Regarding hubs, check the wiki for the full description of disk support for the R63... Aug 02 15:00:14 ...firmware. In short, USB port 1 supports multiple drives on a hub. (This is for Unslung; OpenSlug is a normal Linux environment and not subject to the limitations of Linksys firmware, of course). Aug 02 15:01:00 Thanks Aug 02 15:10:51 I'm reading some pages on the wiki, but they all talk about ntfs/fat. What's the deal when using ext2 or ext3? Still only hub support on port 1? Aug 02 15:44:30 Tobbe: Yes, hub support is independent of filesystem type. The kernel only recognises disks on a hub on USB port 1. The Linksys firmware will only automatically mount and export via Samba parttitions of type NTFS and FAT on a hub. You can use ext2 or ext3, but you'll have to mount those yourself, and arrange for Samba to share them if desired yourself. Aug 02 15:45:28 Ok, thanks for the clairfication Aug 02 15:45:53 and screen + irssi on Unslung isn't a problem, right? Aug 02 20:27:47 Hello All, i'm having an issue with unslung. When i run unsling everything appears as normal but when rebooted it still runs off the flash, i'm using a 400gb freecom drive, is that likely to be the problem? Aug 02 20:29:09 The web interface reports "Formatted (EXT3)" and "Ready, 375331MB (100% Free)" Aug 02 21:06:34 Hi.... does anyone know how to install something completely using apt-get? Aug 02 21:06:55 I installed eggdrop once, then I uninstalled it (with apt-get remove) Aug 02 21:07:08 and I manually removed the /usr/share/doc/eggdrop-* folder Aug 02 21:07:14 it won't install that anymore Aug 03 01:52:34 helo Aug 03 01:52:38 hello **** ENDING LOGGING AT Thu Aug 03 02:59:57 2006
