**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Tue Nov 14 02:59:57 2006 Nov 14 03:06:07 anyone around? Nov 14 03:13:45 yeah Nov 14 03:13:48 barely Nov 14 05:44:21 has anybody seen smbd/nmbd replicate forever? (unslung 6.8b) Nov 14 05:44:51 I browsed from nautilus and deleted a directory, and stalled Nov 14 05:45:06 the hd is going crazy Nov 14 05:45:21 I tried killall smbd Nov 14 05:45:38 then killall nmbd and it just sits there, never returned Nov 14 05:46:28 same thing happened yesterday; I thought it was a disk error, so I ran fsck on it; fixed a couple things. Nov 14 05:47:02 just came back from the killall Nov 14 05:47:34 it's coming back! 15MB used in swap Nov 14 05:48:12 maybe killing nautilus from my linux box helped somehow Nov 14 05:49:24 it's back... cool Nov 14 05:49:54 thx for reading :P Nov 14 05:55:00 grr... there it goes again Nov 14 05:55:15 200 smbds running! Nov 14 06:41:06 copying from windows explorer always maintains 3 smbds at a time Nov 14 06:41:35 so I guess nautilus/linux is maintaining those connections alive- not unslung Nov 14 17:12:42 What does "WatchDog" do? It's in my crontab... Nov 14 19:06:53 Wow, a much longer nick list than I expected! Nov 14 19:10:38 Some weeks ago I found out that the NSLU seems to be the perfect platform for Type'n'play, my Sourceforge.net project (http://sourceforge.net/projects/typenplay/). You would attach an audio interface and usb keyboard, scp songs to the NSLU2, import and manage them via the web interface, and then just type in a part of a song title and listen to it. I'd like to know if anyone is interested in trying that project out. Nov 14 19:11:28 I myself don't have an NSLU2, a friend of mine told me what he's doing with it. Nov 14 19:23:13 Tobbe, try cat /usr/sbin/WatchDog, it's a shell script Nov 14 19:25:09 Pixel83: kinda related is http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/HowTo/SlugAsAudioPlayer Nov 14 19:36:23 caplink811_log: Thanks. But what does it actually do though? I can't say I understand much of that script... Nov 14 19:37:31 Tobbe, it checks that smbd and nmbd are running, thttpd too, if not, it restarts these processes, and it tails the /var/log/message file Nov 14 19:38:43 Ok, thank you :) Nov 14 19:38:48 np Nov 14 19:39:00 eno, thanks. Nov 14 19:39:50 that page's a good base, just the interface is a bit different from standard... Nov 15 01:27:56 anyone around? Nov 15 02:07:32 an .img file Nov 15 02:07:56 but if i try 'flash filename.img' Nov 15 02:08:24 it tells me its not a kernel and it cant flash Nov 15 02:08:25 did you see what I said on private?
