Editing group doesn't work Nov 22 14:08:00 maybe with addgroup ? dont know if that exists under openslug Nov 22 14:08:17 It does Nov 22 14:08:37 but ... it adds a group Nov 22 14:08:37 ah sry Nov 22 14:11:15 adduser user group Nov 22 14:15:26 if the user exists you can edit /etc/passwd and change its group id Nov 22 14:21:06 I want to add him to another group Nov 22 14:21:10 not change his standard group Nov 22 14:21:21 root@GABRIEL:/opt/etc# adduser madkiss files Nov 22 14:21:21 adduser: madkiss: login already in use Nov 22 14:21:27 It looks like /etc/groups is just completely ignored Nov 22 19:50:37 if i plugin a second disk the nslu2 is not starting, but the UUID is correct, how i can find out whats happening while the boot process? Nov 22 19:53:13 i think the command "mount "$@" -U "$UUID" /mnt" in /boot/disk returns an error and then "mount "$@" "$device" /mnt" is used Nov 22 20:19:08 Hello! Can anybody help me setup rtorrent? Using the newest unslug firmware. I get an error about shared libraries and libncursesw.so.5 Nov 22 20:19:59 rtorrent: error while loading shared libraries: libncursesw.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Nov 22 20:22:35 hey Nov 22 20:22:54 can anyone tell me where to find a tutorial how to get the unslung root partition onto a usb drive? Nov 22 20:23:01 cant find anything on nslu2-linux Nov 22 20:34:35 rexsdog, http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/HowTo/UseAMemoryStickAsMainDrive may help you Nov 22 20:43:47 hm Nov 22 20:44:00 i have to use at least a 256mb memstick, 128mb is not enough? Nov 22 20:49:35 rexsdog, assuming, that you want to use unslung fw, then you need 256mb, because you need 3 partitions ~110mb conf, ~60 mb swap, the rest ~-42mb for data Nov 22 20:50:41 argh ok... to bad its to late to buy a bigger stick here now :( Nov 22 20:52:01 do you have linux experiences ? and a linux machine by hand? Nov 22 20:52:45 and another spare device (data storage) which you could use? Nov 22 20:53:41 nope... never mind, im buying another stick tomorrow Nov 22 20:54:50 this a much easier solution ;) Nov 22 21:11:18 i would not use a stick Nov 22 21:11:34 i tried that and it was really slow as OS device Nov 22 21:18:31 oled, i can correct the packaging to add ncursesw as dependencies Nov 22 21:19:15 before the new package appears, you can install ncursesw manually Nov 22 21:19:22 and libcurl as well Nov 22 21:19:31 hi Nov 22 21:19:51 morning, cogitatio :) Nov 22 21:20:15 hehe, its almost 11pm here :) Nov 22 21:20:52 ~ugt Nov 22 21:20:52 i guess ugt is Universial Greeting Time. Created in #mipslinux, it is a rule that states that whenever somebody enters an IRC channel it is always morning, and it is always late when the person leaves. The local time of any other people in the channel, including the greeter, is irrelevant. Nov 22 21:20:56 can anyone here tell me, how to set a label on a vfat drive on the OpenSlug 3.10-beta? Nov 22 21:21:30 :D Nov 22 21:21:43 didnt know, that. morning then. Nov 22 21:22:39 http://linuxwiki.de/DateisystemLabel (bottom of the page) Nov 22 21:22:59 cogitatio, ;) Nov 22 21:23:09 eno - tried installing ncursesw, and it didn't change anything Nov 22 21:23:48 cogitatio, http://de.nntp2http.com/comp/os/unix/linux/misc/2006/11/5d1772571153175c0b744ec3516992c5.html Nov 22 21:24:11 just install libcurl and now it seems to be working Nov 22 21:24:35 cogitatio, and #nslu2-german still exists... Nov 22 21:26:46 evildevil, i read that, but i cant find an mtools package for OpenSlug. Is there one in another distribution, that i could use? Nov 22 21:28:54 and mkdosfs or mkfs.vfat are not in the standard distribution, and i do not know, what pckage i should install to get them Nov 22 21:28:56 cogitatio, it is in the opendebianslug repository, and i assume, it is in the debianslug repo too Nov 22 21:29:06 ipkg search mlabel ? you might have to compile it yourself. or try to find the mtools package in the unofficial BE debian feed (debonaras) Nov 22 21:29:49 ftp://ftp.de.debian.org/debian-armeb Nov 22 21:30:35 EvilDevil, it is, pigpen:~# apt-cache search mtools Nov 22 21:30:35 mtools - Tools for manipulating MSDOS files Nov 22 21:30:48 ftp://ftp.de.debian.org/debian-armeb/pool/main/m/mtools Nov 22 21:31:19 janne5011, did you change your passwort ? ;) Nov 22 21:31:37 eeh Nov 22 21:31:48 can i use mtools from here (http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/nslu2/cross/stable/) for OpenSlug 3.10-beta ? Nov 22 21:31:56 actuall I couldnt find how Nov 22 21:32:30 cogitatio, you could try, but this is mainly for unslung which uses a different kernel and different libraries Nov 22 21:32:40 sometimes one is clumsy sometimes not=) Nov 22 21:33:00 opendebianslug packages are more likely to work Nov 22 21:35:09 janne5011, /msg nickserv set password new_pass i assume Nov 22 21:37:20 yes that worked thanks caplink811-log Nov 22 21:37:35 np :) Nov 22 21:38:31 hmm, i dont find an mtools package in the debianslug feeds :( And i know nothing about comipling. Nov 22 21:39:16 cogitatio, as EvilDevil mentioned above, it is in the debonaras/opendebianslug feeds Nov 22 21:39:18 ftp://ftp.de.debian.org/debian-armeb/pool/main/m/mtools <- what about that one? Nov 22 21:39:44 can i install that with ipkg? Nov 22 21:40:24 sorry i am from the windows world and extensions mean everything to me :) Nov 22 21:40:26 cogitatio, no, you have to download the .deb file, unpack it (ar -x mtools*.deb; tar xvzf data.tar.gz -C / ) Nov 22 21:46:09 hmm, how does mlabel work? it wants a drive letter? like c:? how does that work on a linux system? Nov 22 21:47:43 http://www.die.net/doc/linux/man/man1/mlabel.1.html :) Nov 22 21:48:41 Hi, I just got my NSLU2. But have some problem with it. I can't get it to work with DHCP. I get the double beep. Works fine with Static though. Have anyone had the same problem ((original firmware) Nov 22 21:49:32 cogitatio, it seems like you have to edit the mtools config files to assign the drive letters to the right /dev/ file Nov 22 21:49:40 i read that evil, thats how i got to the drive letter. mtools says it cant initialize the drive :( Nov 22 21:49:40 http://www.die.net/doc/linux/man/man5/mtools.5.html Nov 22 21:50:26 ahh Nov 22 21:50:35 thanks, ill try that Nov 22 21:50:41 np :) Nov 22 21:54:32 electrin I duuno your setup but in most cases there is no reason to use dhcp in a homenetwork....but I have never seen some had that trouble before... Nov 22 21:56:26 hmm. I want DHCP to not have to configure the DNS and stuff on my own b4 I install debian Nov 22 21:56:51 I guess I can give it a try anyway. Nov 22 21:57:02 hmm, now i can change labels, but mount doesnt like them :( Nov 22 21:57:37 has anyone done stuff with unison? Nov 22 21:58:19 ok hm in that case I understand ..but it go to 1.77 if you dont change any . I did it that way (I took the risk=)) Nov 22 22:08:22 cogitatio, not yet. I've read an article in the iX and I'm going to use it as soon as my new system is up and running Nov 22 22:11:27 OK, on mlabel, i just saw the devlabel on the OpenSlug repository. That works like a charm. Out of the box :) Nov 22 22:13:58 for unison, i am just ahving a problem. I want to synch a windows machine with a vfat drive mounted to the slug. now i want the filecreation times to be untouched, but they are always set to the current time on the vfat drive. Now there is a times=true option, which should use mtimes as atimes on te linx drive, but i always get a failed error for the time modification. Nov 22 22:14:26 and i cant have all the synched files to have different dates :( Nov 22 22:45:21 hmm, atime doesnt seem to help :( Nov 22 22:45:29 noatime Nov 22 22:49:16 http://www.chrysocome.net/explore2fs and http://ext2fsd.sourceforge.net/ are also available (reading ext2 FS on windows) Nov 22 22:51:10 the first one seems to be read-only though Nov 22 22:55:36 thanks for the tipps. Nov 22 22:55:48 i gotta go to bed now. good night. :) Nov 22 22:55:58 salut cogitatio Nov 22 22:56:09 n8 cogitatio Nov 22 22:56:54 anyone knows of a good alternative to aMule, to run on the slug ? (Debian/NSLU2) Nov 23 00:32:48 Is it possible to change the ports on the internal ftp server and to possibly specify passive port ranges? Nov 23 00:33:05 origial firmware that is **** ENDING LOGGING AT Thu Nov 23 02:59:57 2006
