The modules that I found on ipkgfin.nslu2-linux.org page (the kernel-module-XXX) seem to be refered to the 2.6.20 kernel version. So, If I understand correcly, the unslung linux version are based on that kernel. Is this right? Feb 07 14:06:48 Hi (another time) to all. A question about the unslung version. The modules that I found on ipkgfin.nslu2-linux.org page (the kernel-module-XXX) seem to be refered to the 2.6.20 kernel version. So, If I understand correcly, the unslung linux version are based on that kernel. Is this right? Feb 07 14:45:47 hiya Feb 07 14:46:01 anyone in here own a ds106e and using the latest version of rtorrent on it? Feb 07 14:48:28 no, is rtorrent good? Feb 07 14:50:00 i've been meaning to use bitorrent on my slug Feb 07 14:51:50 erm. Feb 07 14:51:53 yes, i believe so. Feb 07 14:52:01 but i can't get it to run :) Feb 07 14:52:15 it runs, but it looks funny. Feb 07 14:55:35 i have no idea dude, sorry Feb 07 14:56:43 http://www.kwayteow.net/pics/rtorrent-ds106e-fw428.JPG Feb 07 14:56:52 right, but if anyone happens to know why it looks like that Feb 07 14:57:00 then I'd love to know. Feb 07 14:58:01 oh thats prett Feb 07 14:58:02 y Feb 07 14:58:05 i like the stars Feb 07 14:59:18 yes, they are definitely sexy. though i must say i'm more a fan of the alphabet. Feb 07 15:33:49 ok i gotta go Feb 07 15:33:54 i hope someone can help Feb 07 16:31:48 Hi to all. I need some info about unslung. Is there someoue that can help me? Feb 07 19:12:18 Hi all Feb 07 19:15:05 Looking at the NSLU2 for an embedded robotica project and was wondering how it does with Debian installed on it and/or running on batteries? Feb 07 19:16:24 debian runs fine and can't see any probs with batteries either Feb 07 19:17:58 Any things I do need to worry about in regards to big-e and little-e? Feb 07 19:19:46 To be exact: I'm looking to writing c++ code for control and am wondering if there is any difference between my pc and the NSLU2 in the development of apps... Feb 07 19:22:49 Oh, yes, and is there away to controll the CPU speed with an app like powernowd of cpufreq (like on my pc)... This mostly to get more out of the bat. since the device does like the juice... Feb 07 19:27:52 no way to control the ARM cpu speed via software - see http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/HowTo/OverClockTheSlug Feb 07 19:31:43 ByronT, yea read it and might be handy if I get a second hand one. Feb 07 19:32:46 it looks as though nslu2s manufactured post May 2006 might be running correct speed anyway - which means "don't touch the resistors"! Feb 07 19:38:21 ByronT, yea, I'm hoping that there is one on sale somewhere close so I don't have to do the hack at all. But at a price diference of something like 40 euro (new v.s. second hand) I think I'm going for a second hand one... Feb 07 19:48:39 turns out mine was already clocked Feb 07 19:48:54 which in a way is a shame, as i was hoping to improve performance of mt-daapd by clocking it Feb 07 19:48:58 ;-( Feb 07 19:50:02 barn: you're one hard customer to please ;) Feb 07 20:03:44 lol Feb 07 20:04:05 anyone use firefly/mt-daapd here? Feb 07 20:47:19 Hi, I've just flashed by slug with openslug, and plugged in a USD drive, and ran mke2fs -j /dev/sda1 then turnup disk -i /dev/sda1. The slug seems to boot off the USB disk, as the LED flickers, but it's not picking up an IP address. If I press the pwer button, it shuts itself down ok. It's just not on my network Feb 07 20:47:25 any ideas? Feb 07 20:59:14 hi, i'm building debianslug-image 4.3 from the mastermakefile, but my slug won't boot with this image flashed... is HEAD currently broken? Feb 07 21:14:01 skeffling_: create an init script that dumps the output of dmesg, lsmod, and ifconfig -a to a file. Then you can debug what is going on. Feb 07 21:14:40 I'd make sure that the ethernet firmware and the correct kernel modules are installed. Feb 07 21:15:05 thanks, I'll check that out Feb 07 21:15:11 Also, it may be coming up at a different IP address. The ifconfig part of the init script will tell you that. Feb 07 21:16:42 yeah, maybe it's setting itself as a default 192.168.. address Feb 07 22:14:33 gtg Feb 08 00:35:01 My maxtor crashed and so I was forced to buy another drive. My new drive is NTFS formatted from the company and I'd like to make it a copy of my other drive Feb 08 00:35:37 I'd like to be able to put this drive or the other drive as the unslung boot drive and either one would work Feb 08 00:36:35 However ntfs drive is not partitioned the same and I see no instructions as to how I can have ntfs drive be an unslung boot drive Feb 08 00:36:41 Anyone one know anything? Feb 08 00:39:57 format it via web admin pages? Feb 08 00:40:10 or does it contain data? Feb 08 00:40:47 It doesn't contain data... Feb 08 00:41:21 But if I format via web admin pages it won't be ntfs partition anymore Feb 08 00:41:29 why should it be? Feb 08 00:41:43 because you can't boot unslung from NTFS Feb 08 00:41:57 Well the question is can I boot nslu2 of ntfs Feb 08 00:42:02 ok Feb 08 00:42:08 of course the drive which boots can contain NTFS-partition as well Feb 08 00:42:15 you are saying you can't Feb 08 00:42:21 ? Feb 08 00:42:49 no, it's not possible to boot from NTFS-partition Feb 08 00:43:03 anyone awake feel free to correct me Feb 08 00:44:18 What would I need to do to put just the boot stuff on ntfs partition and everything else on ntfs so I could see that if I plugged it into my windows box? Feb 08 00:44:55 hm..? Feb 08 00:47:06 I got logged off. Feb 08 00:47:14 did I miss any explanation? Feb 08 00:47:28 not really - I'm just wondering your question above Feb 08 00:50:54 could you clear it up a bit? Feb 08 00:53:26 Well it would be nice if the bulk of my data is on ntfs partition and only the linux boot stuff was non-ntfs Feb 08 00:53:54 well, slug doesn't handle ntfs too good Feb 08 00:53:59 well Feb 08 00:54:05 -good Feb 08 00:54:16 Then I could see the bulk of my data in the event I plugged usb driver directly into pc Feb 08 00:58:43 bulk? Feb 08 00:59:21 there are also tools (free) to access ext2/3 partitions under windows Feb 08 01:00:34 I guess i'll go the non ntfs route... Feb 08 01:00:54 but thanks.. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Thu Feb 08 02:59:58 2007
