**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Mon Apr 02 02:59:56 2007 Apr 02 12:34:41 how does samba start on unslung? (compared to /etc/init.d/samba start on openslug) Apr 02 13:41:15 @jelle /opt/etc/init.d/samba if you install a newer version Apr 02 13:41:27 eh SxxSamba Apr 02 13:41:31 not samba Apr 02 13:41:46 ah, right. Apr 02 13:42:22 and default version would be where? (in case someone didn't install a newer version) Apr 02 13:43:29 /usr/sbin are the executables Apr 02 13:43:44 and the start script is under /etc/rc.d/rc.samba i think Apr 02 16:38:11 <_matt> hello, atm i have a storage raid using computers with drives in and a server pc thats access the drives over aoe, would it be possiable to use nslu2 for this ? Apr 02 16:54:31 hey someone know a place to buy nslu2 at cheap price ? Apr 02 18:26:42 _matt: yes, but not necessarily desirable Apr 02 18:44:49 <_matt> mwester, how come? Apr 02 18:45:04 <_matt> will there be enough memory to run it fast enough Apr 02 18:45:55 The real issue is the overhead of USB -- poor performance, and RAID only makes it worse. Apr 02 18:46:05 <_matt> ahh Apr 02 18:51:34 It's a good backup solution, and excellent for low-power, small-space, where performance is not of the highest priority. But a similar device with SATA-attached drives might be a better solution. Apr 02 18:52:23 Storcenter (I think) is a device that comes to mind; it's also been "opened", and runs custom firmware loosely based on SlugOS. Apr 02 18:52:40 NAiL knows about that device, and the firmware on it. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Tue Apr 03 02:59:56 2007
