**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Fri Jul 06 02:59:57 2007 Jul 06 10:03:54 I want to use my NLSU2 for wake on lan. My router doesn't support it so i need a smaal device behind a router. Now i now this works with debian but i don't wanna waste a complete flash drive for it. are there other options? Jul 06 10:19:08 Ranpha1: Eh? Jul 06 10:19:28 You mean you want your NSLU2 to send wake-on-LAN packets to some other device? Jul 06 10:19:57 I found that openslug can wake any computer on a network :-) but the only thing i'm worried about is using a usbflash with , how fast will it wear out? Jul 06 10:32:57 Newer flash chips use a different sort of cell that doesn't wear out, I'm led to believe. Jul 06 10:33:32 If you're really worried about it, stick an old 40GB HDD in a caddy and use that instead. More power use, but less chance of wearing it out in a hurry. Jul 06 11:43:43 i reflashed my slug which had a static ip adress 10.0.0.x but my network changed to 192.168.x.x and now i can't seems to connect to it anymore. Reflashing worked great Jul 06 11:46:27 Ranpha1: You can add a static route in your workstation's routing table to get to the slug if it's forgotten it's address and gone back to the factory default. Jul 06 11:48:08 womble i don't know if it back to fac default if it has then i could find it it should be 192.168.1.77 right? but it's still stuck in 10.0.0.4 and how do i add a static route? Jul 06 11:48:44 Ranpha1: route add -host dev Jul 06 11:49:06 That says "to get to , just send the packet out " Jul 06 11:50:20 hmmm no reaction Jul 06 11:52:19 if i reflash the orginal firmware with it reset my network device on the slug? Jul 06 11:53:05 Ranphal: Y'know, I don't know. You'd have to ask someone with more slug experience than I. I gave you a bum steer on that network thing, by the way. Better instructions coming in a sec... Jul 06 11:54:51 Give your workstation an IP address on the same /24 as the slug: "ifconfig ethN:1 10.0.0.10". An appropriate route for that subnet should have been created in the routing table (check "route" with no options for an entry that says "10.0.0.0" in the first column). If so, you're all set and can probably reach your slug now. Jul 06 23:01:44 Anyone run slimserver on an NSLU2? Jul 07 00:41:17 /opt/sbin/cupsd: error while loading shared libraries: libldap-2.3.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Jul 07 00:41:24 I get that whenever I try to start cups Jul 07 00:41:38 where can I get this libldap-2.3.so.0? Jul 07 00:57:40 DrJ: Which distro are you using? Jul 07 01:01:38 unslung Jul 07 01:02:19 I'd try the unslung package repos then. Jul 07 01:02:30 I already searched Jul 07 01:03:28 My guess is you didn't search very well, because 30 seconds with Google has found it. Jul 07 01:05:05 only ones I can find are for openslug Jul 07 01:10:05 I'd give this a go: http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/unslung/cross/openldap-libs_2.3.35-1_armeb.ipk Jul 07 01:11:50 k, but how do I load that file Jul 07 01:12:09 nvm Jul 07 01:13:07 cool Jul 07 01:13:11 that appears to have fixed it Jul 07 01:15:30 DrJ: Now you get the honour of writing up your findings in the wiki. Jul 07 01:15:46 k Jul 07 01:15:47 can do Jul 07 01:16:14 hmm Jul 07 01:16:16 can't do Jul 07 01:16:21 that page is password protected Jul 07 01:17:06 http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/HowTo/AddPrinter <--locked Jul 07 01:18:10 DrJ: The bottom of the wiki page gives the current password. Jul 07 01:18:15 Damned wiki spammers. Jul 07 01:18:28 oh Jul 07 01:20:53 how can http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/unslung/cross/openldap-libs_2.3.35-1_armeb.ipk be installed without downloading it? Jul 07 01:22:51 DrJ: Assuming the feed is in your ipkg config already, you can just run 'ipkg install openldap-libs' Jul 07 01:23:18 But I don't run unslung on my slug, so I don't know what the default feed list looks like. Jul 07 01:23:32 I figured it out Jul 07 01:23:38 I just put run this: ipkg install http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/unslung/cross/openldap-libs_2.3.35-1_armeb.ipk Jul 07 01:23:39 it works Jul 07 01:24:40 thanks womble Jul 07 01:24:56 np Jul 07 01:24:56 I had cups all fine and working Jul 07 01:25:04 then decided to upgrade a newer version Jul 07 01:25:08 of course I then screwed it all up Jul 07 01:25:21 Don't worry, LDAP breaks everything it touches.
