**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Mon Jul 16 02:59:58 2007 Jul 16 03:46:11 I just did an ipkg update/upgrade and now I can't use winscp (using sftp-server) to connect to my nslu2. Anyone have any idea what might be wrong? Jul 16 03:48:15 sure its running? Jul 16 03:48:54 Doesn't sftp-server work by the client invoking it via an ssh session? Jul 16 03:49:05 idk Jul 16 03:49:15 not familiar with it Jul 16 03:49:34 so the problem is you can't connect to shh? Jul 16 03:49:35 *ssh Jul 16 03:50:09 I can ssh in just fine. Jul 16 03:50:43 I do see the following in the log when I try to use winscp: Jul 16 03:50:45 <35>Dec 31 20:33:02 sshd[823]: error: Could not get shadow information for root Jul 16 03:54:18 I'm sorry, you need someone who is familiar with it Jul 16 03:54:38 you could try doing ipkg remove winscp Jul 16 03:54:42 then ipkg install winscp Jul 16 03:54:44 Hmm. /etc/shadow seems to be missing from my system. Jul 16 03:54:45 then DO_Reboot Jul 16 03:56:27 Does unslung have a /etc/shadow there? Jul 16 03:56:59 let me check mine Jul 16 03:57:22 winscp is actually a windows scp sftp client. Jul 16 03:58:07 no /etc/shadow on mine Jul 16 03:58:18 ok. Jul 16 04:04:09 Seems that sftp gets closed down right after it starts up: http://pastebin.com/m73c738d7 Jul 16 04:05:52 you might want to find an irc channel for this Jul 16 04:09:42 Thanks. I'm trying over at #openssh... Jul 16 12:01:45 hi! someone good at appweb? Jul 16 14:47:52 no one know the answer on my question =D Jul 16 15:11:27 hmm Jul 16 16:28:42 Hi, i configured a webbased terminal and it works. but a few minutes ago i did a portscan and it seems port 111 (sunrpc) is open, where can i find inetd.conf? (i know i have to stop the daemon too) Jul 16 16:45:04 hello Jul 16 16:45:14 hi Jul 16 16:45:44 McSalty Jul 16 16:45:50 /etc/inetd.conf Jul 16 16:46:00 no, it's not there Jul 16 16:46:46 what are you running? Jul 16 16:46:54 unslung? Jul 16 16:46:59 openslug Jul 16 16:47:56 /etc/inetd.conf: No such file or directory Jul 16 16:48:22 does openslug have a whereis Jul 16 16:48:29 no Jul 16 16:49:29 i already searched the wiki's but i can't find anything Jul 16 16:49:30 $ ls -d /etc/*inet* Jul 16 16:49:30 /etc/xinetd.conf /etc/xinetd.d Jul 16 16:50:28 no, isn't there Jul 16 16:51:08 then it's probably not started from *inetd Jul 16 16:52:03 strange Jul 16 16:55:01 i'm going to stop the daemon, maybe i'll run a port knocker Jul 16 16:55:02 thanks Jul 16 16:57:00 sunrpc is started by /sbin/portmap Jul 16 16:58:32 ls -l /etc/init.d/portmap Jul 16 16:59:17 i never put my slug directly on internet, i prefer to redirect a port or two instead Jul 16 17:00:55 me too, i'm behind a router and use 2 proxies Jul 16 17:01:22 then you probably don't need to worry so much about all the ports Jul 16 17:01:33 but when i took my slug with me, i'm not going to take my router with me:) Jul 16 17:01:39 i know, but i like being secure Jul 16 17:01:55 take* Jul 16 17:02:17 i c Jul 16 17:05:55 bye, and thanks Jul 16 18:23:26 i got my hands on an old debian nslu2. It works as fileshare (tried sshfs and samba) but fails under heavy load. The linux keeps on working but the shares are dead. Networkcable and PSU are new. I'm very sure about the PSU, not 100% about the cable. Any bets, any guess on what to check first ? Jul 16 19:53:18 pumpkin0: you might start by finding out if its debianslug, or a real debian install -- then get it up-to-date and try again. Jul 16 19:53:48 There were network load problems at one point, but those were worked out of the driver some time ago. Jul 16 20:03:27 someone using appweb? how do i get appweb to go to index.html or index.php even is the search way isnt http://site.com/index.html insteed its just http://site.com Jul 16 20:03:34 someone know? Jul 16 20:04:30 do you know http://www.appwebserver.org/products/appWeb/doc.html ? Jul 16 20:05:40 have read it, cant find anything about it Jul 16 20:06:30 mwester: thanks. Will flash it to the newest version and try again. Jul 16 20:07:59 when you use appweb-2.1 then you should do some research in the forum, too Jul 16 20:08:43 http://www.appwebserver.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=597 Jul 16 20:09:44 yea just looked in the forum Jul 16 20:09:50 and this problem in known Jul 16 20:10:14 hoping i can find some way to fix it :S or else 2.1 it pretty useless Jul 16 20:11:43 you should read more, and write less, within the link above there is the description of a workaround Jul 16 21:08:35 hi all Jul 16 21:08:39 does anyone run gentoo slug here? Jul 16 21:22:10 I do Jul 16 21:22:33 In fact, I use it as my irssi proxy to be able to talk to you. Jul 16 21:23:44 whats the benefits Jul 16 21:23:47 over debian slug? Jul 16 21:24:39 Geek points, more packages, everything compiled as I want it to be. Jul 16 21:24:51 does it take less ram or anything? Jul 16 21:25:02 Negatives are having to compile everything on the slug. (Or a spare slug in my case.) Jul 16 21:25:11 ya.. Jul 16 21:25:13 I believe so. I've never run debianslug. Jul 16 21:25:15 i have a spare slug Jul 16 21:25:18 lol Jul 16 21:25:24 its my backup Jul 16 21:25:36 i have 2 identical ones i figure id put gentoo on one. Jul 16 21:26:00 Hmm Joshin does distcc work well with it? Jul 16 21:26:13 I'm thinking thats a must Jul 16 21:26:46 Running irssi, dropbear, named, ntp, and a few other things, I still have 18MB free ram. Jul 16 21:26:57 Oh yeah. Distcc is a definite requirement. Jul 16 21:27:05 Unless you want to wait a week. Jul 16 21:27:13 heh Jul 16 21:27:13 ok Jul 16 21:27:20 maybe i'll play with it when i have some time on my second slug Jul 16 21:28:01 CHOST="armeb-softfloat-linux-gnu ; CFLAGS="-Os -march=armv5te -mtune=xscale" Jul 16 21:28:20 USE="nptl nptlonly pam gdbm berkdb ssl perl python readline ncurses crypt zlib usb dba -ipv6 tcpd -doc -fortran xml" Jul 16 21:29:07 I've been running it for a year or so. Most of the others that try GentooSlug use UClibC but I find it too much a pain for the couple MB RAM I might save. Jul 16 21:29:36 ok i found a gentooslug wiki Jul 16 21:29:37 you use that? Jul 16 21:30:16 I mainly use mine for nfs/smb/apache.. Jul 16 21:31:15 I don't remember. There's a topic in the Gentoo forums that I used to participate in on the topic. I'm not sure I have an easy way to provide a build at the moment. Jul 16 21:31:33 ok Jul 16 21:31:37 well i'll tryit out :) Jul 16 21:31:44 thank you for use flags .. Jul 16 21:31:50 One of these years (or not), I may have to automate a Stage3 build. :) Jul 16 21:31:55 Good luck! Jul 16 21:39:14 hello all Jul 16 21:39:18 anyone home today? Jul 16 21:39:57 nope Jul 16 21:40:12 Cute... :) Jul 16 21:40:27 There's a name I recognize from the wiki Jul 16 21:41:08 I have a simple question - how can we add pages to the Wiki? Jul 16 21:41:24 I'd like to document the behavior of config.bin, among other things Jul 16 21:41:54 Just navigate to the non-existant page -- it'll ask you if you want to create it. Jul 16 21:42:28 hmm someone who can help me whit appweb? Have read on the forum for answer and i kinda found it :S but its still not working :( Jul 16 21:42:57 While you're at it, can you split the info you added to the R63 disk info page into a separate page -- keeps the wiki more focused and makes it easier to find the extra info if it's not tacked onto the end of a rather obscure page! Jul 16 21:43:38 how do set your server to go to index.html even it index.html isnt placed in the link like http://192.166.1.33/index.html Jul 16 21:44:07 wierd - it didn't work when I tried it before Jul 16 21:44:12 DigiI-, if you're using apache there is an option in the config file; DirectoryIndex Jul 16 21:44:17 yeah I wanted to put all that somewhere else Jul 16 21:44:30 Lunar_Lamp just sad im using appweb :S Jul 16 21:44:56 then use 2.0.5 Jul 16 21:44:58 DigiI-, well, there will be an option similarly somewhere no doubt - but you're best looking in some place with specific appweb support. Jul 16 21:45:19 and its a known bug, and ur suppose to add 3 lines, but when i an there is no diffrent Jul 16 21:45:22 pedxing: I figured you did, it's not an obvious place to that info. ;-) Jul 16 21:45:35 caplink811-log how do i install an earlier version? :S Jul 16 21:47:07 did you ever try ipkg --help? Jul 16 21:48:42 -force-downgrade Jul 16 21:57:48 gaaah Jul 16 21:59:39 So has anyone else had problems with dual native disks over-mounting the conf partition? Jul 16 22:09:27 pedxing: documented in the wiki. Jul 16 22:09:38 and discussed in the mailing list archives numerous times! Jul 16 22:09:50 (This is a VFAQ) Jul 16 22:10:32 unsling to the disk in USB 1, it will mount its conf on both drive's conf mount points, but all will work. Jul 16 22:10:53 If you've already unslung to USB 2, then you have a problem. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Tue Jul 17 02:59:59 2007
