**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Sun Nov 25 02:59:56 2007 Nov 25 04:21:47 hi can anyone help me here with my unslung? Nov 25 04:59:11 ~ask Nov 25 04:59:12 well, ask is Questions in the channel should be specific, informative, complete, concise, and on-topic. Don't ask if you can ask a question first. Don't ask if a person is there, just ask what you intended to ask them. Better questions more frequently yield better answers. We are all here voluntarily or against our will. Nov 25 05:07:49 after installing the latest beta for the unslung i seem to have lost the http:// access to my nslu2 Nov 25 05:08:21 i can putty in to it after i installed my openssh though Nov 25 05:12:57 is this an feature to unslung or? Nov 25 09:15:21 The first one is that I download programs to my (Open)slug with ipkg install, to a USB-memorystick. Everything looks great and I see that the programs are installed. But why am I not able to run them? I cant even find the installed programs other than with ipkg status... Nov 25 09:15:28 The other question is that I have problem chaning the rootpassword when I connect my USB-disk. Tried "passwd" and cp -f /etc/passwd /share/hdd/conf/passwd.. Nov 25 09:15:37 still woundering Nov 25 09:16:04 hi there .. a rather stupid question but i installed tcl and eggdrop using ipkg but now i got the ./opt/eggdrop/eggdrop: error while loading shared libraries: libtcl.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory error message argl :) Nov 25 09:17:13 btw : 6.8 unslung Nov 25 09:21:23 eiffel i was reading some older irc logs ( http://purl.rikers.org/%23nslu2-linux/20060225.html.gz ) seems like you had the same problem how did you actually fix it ? := Nov 25 09:56:03 macke what programs dont work? Nov 25 09:57:40 try to find the binary. often its started with /opt/bin/myprogram Nov 25 09:58:51 btw: find -name *myprogram* Nov 25 10:00:01 *reboot slug* plz hold. =) Nov 25 10:24:09 hey. I got ctorrent to work now. rtorrent still dont, but I dont mind that now. Nov 25 10:24:49 what can i do about my disk-problem? do i have to mount the hdd in order to change the rootpassword? Nov 25 10:25:16 in that case. how do I do that Nov 25 10:25:17 ? Nov 25 10:30:20 err openslug ? i think i read somewhere that opensug comes with turnup Nov 25 10:31:19 http://www.hifihacks.com/?page_id=68 turnup init This will ask a few set up questions about IP etc, and will ask for a new root password. After this we reboot, attach the hard drive and make the slug create a root file system on the hard drive: Nov 25 10:32:11 but i donīt know what your problem is so dunno :) Nov 25 12:02:23 crimson_: sry i cant remember if i ever got eggdrop running dont think so Nov 25 12:03:52 you could try find / -name libtcl* Nov 25 12:04:18 maybe there is an other version of libtcl.so with a number Nov 25 12:04:32 and you only need to softlink it Nov 25 12:04:37 or copy Nov 25 12:15:09 crimson_: "turnup: No such file or directory" I have installed openslug on a usb-stick and I am able to telnet to the slug as root, but when I connect my usb-hdd (the one I used with the slug befor I unslung it), I cant log on as root anymore. I can still reach all the shares via samba and log on to the slug via www, but not telnet anymore.read that you may have to change rootpasswd with passwd and then copy Nov 25 12:15:09 /etc/passwd to /share/hdd/conf/passwd, but that still wount work when I connect the hdd and reboot I still cant log on as root/newpasswd =/ Nov 25 12:35:17 ipkg install zd1211 seems dead Nov 25 12:37:01 where can I get it then?? Nov 25 12:38:58 EmuandCo look hyere I dont know if this useful for you http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/nslu2-general/files/Custom%20Kernel%20Modules/ Nov 25 13:27:17 crappy yahoo! Spams my mail address for aes already with all NSLU2 Messages and now it tells me Nov 25 13:27:25 You are not registered! Nov 25 13:47:38 Where ca I find the Disk1 Share in the telnet session console?? Nov 25 13:48:33 unslung FW Nov 25 13:53:13 brb, please answer me then... Nov 25 13:58:29 /share/hdd/data/public/ Nov 25 14:00:19 or just /public Nov 25 14:00:24 at least that is what it is on mine Nov 25 18:00:51 does unslung not include modprobe?? Nov 25 18:05:51 EmuandCo: ipkg install modutils Nov 25 18:11:01 no such file or directory.... Nov 25 18:12:46 hi, does anybody know how to let openwrt shutdown on pressing the powerbutton on my nslu2 Nov 25 18:21:21 where is modprobe lacated after installing modutils? Nov 25 18:22:03 EmuandCo: Use insmod on Unslung, I don't think anyone has ever spend any effort to get the infrastructure for modprobe to work. Nov 25 18:23:08 ok... my zd1211.o is not for this type of ARM cpu... Nov 25 18:54:54 how do I manually mount my usb-hdd (disk 1)? Nov 25 18:56:52 mount -o rw /dev/sdb1 /mnt Nov 25 18:56:53 AFAIK Nov 25 18:57:04 fdisk -l /dev/sdb should tell you if theres something there Nov 25 18:59:33 mount: Mounting /dev/sdb1 on /mnt failed: No such device or address =( Nov 25 18:59:51 whats the fdisk -l /dev/sdb Nov 25 18:59:53 give you? Nov 25 19:00:51 Disk /dev/sdb: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 60801 cylinders Nov 25 19:00:51 Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes Nov 25 19:00:51 Disk /dev/sdb doesn't contain a valid partition table Nov 25 19:01:03 do I have to format my old hdd that I used since before I unslung? Nov 25 19:01:28 it still works fine with samba though Nov 25 19:07:47 I dont understand anything of this, why doesnt it work? Nov 25 19:26:00 gg Nov 25 19:26:11 sorry... Nov 25 19:26:31 any more ideas? Nov 25 19:30:27 when fdisk -l didn't show you any partition, then something may be wrong with your disk... Nov 25 19:32:18 but this disk works with windows/dos? Nov 25 19:38:37 A basic lesson in Linux plz. How do I change the mac address of the LAN Adapter in the SLug? Nov 25 19:43:36 EmuandCo: !!! You don't! Nov 25 19:44:12 caplink811_log: I havent connected the disk directly to the computer (dont run windows either), but i can access the disk over the network using samba and both read and write to it. no problem at all. I do have to boot the slug with the disk connected though. the reason that i dont want to do that is that i have problems connecting to the slug as root when the disk is connected at startup. "wrong root passwd", Nov 25 19:44:12 thats the reason I wanted to mount it afterwards... Nov 25 19:44:46 mwester I do. I can only access my open ports with the MAC of my big PC Nov 25 19:45:27 macke__: It sounds like you have a problem that you did not unsling correctly. You should have been prompted to change the root password when you did the unsling. Nov 25 19:46:16 I did change the password. and i have done it afterwards aswell. the hdd was not connected then, only the usb-stick Nov 25 19:46:30 EmuandCo: Multiple devices on a network with the same MAC address is chaos for the network. Your router should handle this problem, if it is a problem with your ISP. Nov 25 19:46:47 i have no problem to logon when i only use the stick, without the hdd.. Nov 25 19:46:58 logon with telnet that is Nov 25 19:47:31 mwester my big PC is on another Network Nov 25 19:47:33 macke__: See the wiki, then -- it will tell you what to do. It is not trivial, which is why you are not supposed to swap the device to which you have unslung. Nov 25 19:47:58 EmuandCo: Do what you will; check the man page for ifconfig (or google) Nov 25 19:48:43 no the usb-stick is always connected as Disk 2 and my hdd as Disk 1. Nov 25 19:49:21 didnt thing the hdd should be connected to the slug then? did i missunderstand the wiki? Nov 25 19:49:25 macke__: Then you did not follow the wiki. It specifically says NOT to do that. Nov 25 19:50:02 macke__: If you have two native devices (meaning both are formatted for the NSLU2), then you MUST unsling to the one in port 1, and not to the one in port 2. Nov 25 19:50:16 Otherwise, problems such as the one you are experiencing will occur. :( Nov 25 19:50:55 http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Unslung/WhichUSBPortforUnslung6 Nov 25 19:51:13 Particularly the section on "Exception to Rule #1" Nov 25 19:54:53 i guess thats what i did wrong. =/ what about if i format the hdd with ntfs then? will that solve my problem? Nov 25 19:56:16 the slug just works fine with only the memorystick so i should be able to mount a ntfs, or fat drive? perhaps i get problem writing to the drive then i guess..? Nov 25 19:56:59 macke__: NTFS will solve the problem, if you are willing to have the device crash every time you try to use the NTFS drive heavily (there is a bug in the Linksys NTFS driver). Nov 25 19:57:00 or why not format it with ext3? Nov 25 19:57:41 using my pc that is.. Nov 25 19:57:48 See the wiki for information on ext3 -- you can do that, but the Linksys code won't recognize it, so you'll have to add your own stuff to make it mount the partition and export it via Samba. Nov 25 20:00:03 okej.. maybe that will work then. i trying to figure out the solution with the least work wich i can screw up. =) Nov 25 20:01:05 remove the usb-stick and unslung the hdd maybe is the easiest way after all.. Nov 25 20:29:37 hell. i just had to switch disk1 and disk2 and remake all the shares and now everything works fine for me! Nov 25 20:30:18 wonder what happens when i install programs... **** ENDING LOGGING AT Mon Nov 26 02:59:57 2007
