Feb 02 10:22:46 Its twonky media now ;) Feb 02 10:23:49 didnt see it mentionin on nslu2-linux Feb 02 10:24:54 i dont have itunes installed Feb 02 10:24:56 so im not sure Feb 02 10:25:15 WanderingII, "Interfaces to third party applications like iTunes, Winamp, Adobe Photoshop Album " Feb 02 10:25:19 http://www.twonkymedia.com/Products/TwonkyMedia/index.html Feb 02 10:25:20 Try it Feb 02 10:25:51 ah dunno its not free :( Feb 02 10:26:08 What are you trying to do with it? Feb 02 10:26:11 What else Feb 02 10:26:27 As firefly is designed for itunes/roku soundbridge. Feb 02 10:29:03 want to share itunes library but would also like to be able to detect the music through a radio if at all possible but this isnt that important. also want to run a web server, have my printer up and running, want to manage a photo gallery but i could do that throuh the web server, also would like it to be able to handle email and torrents and if possible enable me to have windows profiles set up for the network so people can log on any compute Feb 02 10:29:03 r and get the same profile anywhere. Feb 02 10:58:11 im trying to install mt-daapd but its not workin at all and doesnt seem to be the same as the instructions on the firefly wiki Feb 02 10:59:32 ipkg install mt-daapd Feb 02 10:59:36 dont that Feb 02 10:59:42 done* Feb 02 10:59:54 right.. Feb 02 11:00:04 # ps -ef | grep mt-daapd tried that and got nothing Feb 02 11:00:24 then this /opt/etc/init.d/S60mt-daapd waited and still nothing Feb 02 11:00:46 but when i run that line i get an error about bad mp3 directory Feb 02 11:01:16 right Feb 02 11:01:33 looked up the nslu2-linux wiki on mt-daapd and it tells me to go to /share/hdd/data/public. but i dont appear to have it Feb 02 11:01:54 WanderingII, Feb 02 11:02:01 nano /opt/etc/mt-daapd.conf Feb 02 11:02:07 should be your config file Feb 02 11:02:17 blank Feb 02 11:03:11 /opt/etc/mt-daapd/mt-daapd.conf Feb 02 11:04:15 ok im in that file now Feb 02 11:04:34 you can select like an mp3 folder and such Feb 02 11:05:05 the mp3_dir value? Feb 02 11:05:45 ya Feb 02 11:06:30 ok so where shoudl i create a directory so that it can be used for this, but that users could also map to it if they wished to view the files within the directory or to copy them? Feb 02 11:07:11 that'd be why it was in the public folder i suspect Feb 02 11:07:18 so its already on a samba share Feb 02 11:08:45 ive a folder on my network \\slug\disk 2 do i just create it there? Feb 02 11:09:11 yeah, but you need the disk 2 folder Feb 02 11:09:24 which should be /shaare/hdd/data/public IIRC Feb 02 11:09:26 share Feb 02 11:10:12 sorry, could you explain that a wee bit more. Feb 02 11:10:47 \\slug\disk 2 Feb 02 11:10:50 is just a samba shar Feb 02 11:10:51 share Feb 02 11:11:00 it has location on the drive/disk Feb 02 11:11:10 so you need to find what that is, which should be in the /share folder Feb 02 11:11:12 have a browse Feb 02 11:12:33 ok inside share i have flash and hdd Feb 02 11:12:54 inside hdd ive conf and data Feb 02 11:13:13 inside data is mt-daapd Feb 02 11:14:06 mwester, sorry for the mail Feb 02 11:18:51 ive gone to /share/hdd/conf and theres a file listed share.info how do i view it? Feb 02 11:27:37 ah i havent a clue with this. Feb 02 11:48:56 woo hoo :) mt-daapd is up and running. Feb 02 11:54:14 cool Feb 02 11:59:31 is it just a matter of copying and pasting my whole itunes lib to this slug now/ Feb 02 12:01:14 not the library file.. but the music yes.. i think so Feb 02 12:01:19 then just login to the web interface Feb 02 12:01:41 and make it scan the files to build the DB Feb 02 12:02:10 will it pl Feb 02 12:02:14 oops Feb 02 14:58:30 guys, having trouble realising what my pam passwors are for users... dont seem same as what i set for login... think ftp progs are using pam passwors. any ideas what to do? Feb 02 14:59:08 hello daveyboy_, got printer up and running and itunes server :) Feb 02 15:01:23 ah good stuff :) living the dream then :) printer i aint done yet, but no need as slug is in other room 2 rinter. doh... got any more stuff to setup or u got where u wanna be yet? Feb 02 15:03:19 aw ive loads more. want to do web server, photos, email, torrents and i dont know if its possible but id like to be able to have people set up on windows with a profile which will be the same for them no matter which computer they use and the my documents will be the same etc. Feb 02 15:04:59 starting to understand the device a bit better but only a bit still alot to know and your and reedy_boys patience is much appreciated. Feb 02 15:30:14 wandering, try rading this...http://computertips.toups.info/roaming/RoamingXPPro.htm Feb 02 15:30:41 thanks will have a read at it this evenin Feb 02 15:31:35 np. torrent i can help with. but depends what exaclty u want ure client to do.. if its gui then that sprob with unslubg at the mo (and reason i switched to debian) Feb 02 15:33:23 ok Feb 02 15:34:33 but u dotn need gui.... screen does it, and if u set up rtorrent to watch a folder for torrens, then d/l immediatly, and move to anothe rfolder, u can pretty much let it do its own thing Feb 02 15:34:56 yea that sounds like something i want to do. Feb 02 15:34:57 by the way what apps have u got installed on unslung atm? Feb 02 15:35:20 cups and mt-daapd think thats it Feb 02 15:35:36 oh i think i need to do somehting about my hdd spinnin down Feb 02 15:35:53 yea rtorrent is great. i got it set up to wathc folder and move like i said, also got it to onwly d/l at full bandwith in night and rest of time only take small setcion of bandwith Feb 02 15:36:16 yea wel i think my isp only allows torrents at night. Feb 02 15:36:44 i not done that yet. read somewhere that to many spin downs aint good idea... mind u cant see how running at full pelt all time is good either... u wanna install nano and screen as well Feb 02 15:37:12 nano is v good test reader/writer, which lets u browse folders Feb 02 15:38:30 aw yea i have that Feb 02 15:38:39 reedy_boy recommended it Feb 02 15:38:52 hahha deja vu ;) Feb 02 15:39:02 he is good lad. helped me out big time as well Feb 02 15:40:25 just need him to help me figure out my ftp password issue ;) Feb 02 15:40:35 yea lol Feb 02 15:40:54 no one in #linux that maybe could help? Feb 02 15:41:23 maybe. not bothered really yet. helping gf revise for uni finls on monday. ouch Feb 02 15:42:09 oh logged in :D Feb 02 15:42:41 lol i had that a few weeks ago. found out yesterday she has passed :) Feb 02 15:43:40 I installed ipkg... on my DiskStation (207) and would like to mount an .iso file. Feb 02 15:43:54 if I mount the file, I get the error: "mount: Couldn't setup loop device" Feb 02 15:44:54 I upgraded busybox using ipkg, so now I have losetup, but "losetup -d /dev/loop0" does not work (/dev/loop0 does not exist) Feb 02 15:45:28 any idea how I coul make it work? Feb 02 16:38:02 andreas_: this requires kernel support, either loop.ko or compiled in the kernel Feb 02 17:02:09 any proftpd users here? Feb 02 17:04:23 daveyboy_ i must see about getting this proftpd installed during the week, your bound to be an expert on it by then :) Feb 02 17:04:52 lol i wish :P Feb 02 17:41:22 hello Feb 02 18:21:12 eno: seems to be that isofs is missing in the kernel, loop can be found in /proc/devices. Feb 02 18:22:19 I tried to install isofs: ipkg install kernel-module-isofs, which installs a isofs.i into /opt/lib/modules Feb 02 18:22:43 but If I try to load it: insmod /opt/lib/modules/isofs.o Feb 02 18:23:02 I get the following error: insmod: cannot insert '/opt/lib/modules/isofs.o': invalid module format Feb 02 18:23:39 how can I load the kernel-modules installed by ipkg? Feb 02 18:24:16 If I try "modprobe", I allways get "modprobe: cannot parse modules.dep" Feb 02 18:27:17 andreas_: which feed are you using for kernel modules? Feb 02 18:27:43 that error message probably means kernel version does not match Feb 02 18:28:40 http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/ds101g/cross/stable Feb 02 18:29:07 is ds207 also powerpc? Feb 02 18:29:24 uname -a: Linux DiskStation 2.6.15 #518 Thu Nov 1 21:20:27 CST 2007 ppc unknown Feb 02 18:29:34 yes, 266 MHz ppc Feb 02 18:29:51 All the other packages work fine. Feb 02 18:30:04 i vaguely remember ds101g was 2.4 kernel Feb 02 18:30:09 what's he difference between isofs.ko and isofs.o ? Feb 02 18:32:00 ko is kernel module for recent kernels Feb 02 18:32:44 right, ds101g is 2.4.22 Feb 02 18:33:01 so kernel module from that feed won't work Feb 02 18:33:59 ok Feb 02 18:34:41 you'll need to find GPL source for your ds207 Feb 02 18:35:04 What is a simplest way to get a isofs.ko for 2.6.15 kernel? I know how to compile kernels... but I'm not so sure about cross-compiling etc Feb 02 18:35:18 So I need the original config and patches? Feb 02 18:35:38 Can't I build a module for a vanilla 2.6.15 kernel? Feb 02 18:36:36 i'm not sure what's the behavior if the original config sets isofs to N Feb 02 18:36:50 you can try Feb 02 18:37:25 Here is a link to the GPL sources: http://www.courville.org/mediawiki/index.php/Synology Feb 02 18:37:32 but it seems to be dead :-( Feb 02 18:37:51 you'll also need module-init-tools instead of modutils Feb 02 18:37:52 does someone know another link? Feb 02 18:38:00 yes Feb 02 18:38:31 That will be the problem I had with modprobe... Feb 02 18:40:18 see also optware/make/mssii-kernel-modules.mk Feb 02 22:14:16 here looking for a suggestion of which optware ( or not ) bittorrent client to use with my slug... I would prefer to be able to monitor and change status via some kind of front end rather as compared to CLI only. Suggestions? Pros? Cons? Feb 02 22:15:03 getting tired of leaving my laptop running all the time Feb 02 22:15:25 what do you guys use? Feb 02 22:15:47 I am using unslung Feb 02 22:18:38 ~lobotomy Feb 02 22:35:27 Ken_slush: I use Debian. You can give rTorrent with nTorrent a try Feb 02 22:36:10 ill take a look Feb 02 22:36:13 thanks for the answer Feb 02 22:36:37 looking at transmission right now Feb 02 22:36:49 know about it? Feb 02 22:37:22 yeah Feb 02 22:37:26 GTG Feb 02 22:37:46 np ty Feb 02 22:37:52 np Feb 02 23:03:11 hi, I currently have an nslu2 with two drives connected to it, running Debian Etch. I use rsync to mirror the drives to each other. I had previously tested swapping one drive for the other and the system booted fine. It's been a few months and I tried it again today and the second drive will no longer boot. I have a feeling this has something to do with kernel updates. Any ideas what I need to do to get the other drive booting? **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sun Feb 03 02:59:56 2008
