**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Sat Jun 21 02:59:56 2008 Jun 21 04:02:13 hi all Jun 21 04:03:44 so I just re-flashed my nlsu2 with SlogOSBE 4.8 beta, it all boot up fine but I can't log in because it doesn't recognise opeNSLUg as the password Jun 21 04:04:08 anyone have a clue wha the new password is please? Jun 21 04:05:45 is anyone alive? Jun 21 04:05:47 It's what the old password was. Jun 21 04:06:09 Your root password and network settings are preserved across flashes. Jun 21 04:06:46 ahh oh crap. How do I reset it as I don't rememer it Jun 21 04:07:19 flash the linksys firmware, and follow the linksys instructions to reset the unit to factory default using the reset button on the back. Jun 21 04:07:47 ok thanks very much. appreciate your help Jun 21 04:08:59 oh I just tried a password I use for a lot of stuff and it worked fine. You obviously know what you're talking about! Jun 21 04:09:13 so one more question... Jun 21 04:09:40 should I use LE or BE? I Jun 21 04:09:55 I'm not clear on what the benefits/disadvantages are of each Jun 21 04:10:37 I already understand what endianness is I just don't know which I should be using, given the NLSU2 seens to support both Jun 21 04:12:30 althoug the wiki does haave a section on this it just talks about how to test what endianness your cpu runs, it doesn't explain what the decisions are for which to chose Jun 21 04:13:49 Most folks running SlugOS run BE. Jun 21 04:14:04 There's no good technical argument for one over the other. Jun 21 04:15:39 ok thanks. is there any benefit for one or the other for what packages are available, or are the BE and LE repositories the same? Jun 21 04:18:53 They are the same now. Jun 21 04:25:44 ok thanks for all your help mwester. Jun 21 17:02:14 mwester: regarding re-flashing the default linksys file, that might not be needed for resetting password. I have a serial console (but this can be done via telnet), getting into RedBoot, you can use slugimage to disassemble and re-assemble SlugOSBE with defaults - you have to specify your MAC address - but if you TFTP the whole image and replace the whole image in flash it overwrites the config. Jun 21 17:02:58 i.e., if you do these steps: Jun 21 17:03:13 Yeah, but I think there might be two people on this channel that can do that. Everyone can flash the Linksys firmware, though. Jun 21 17:03:46 oh ok gotcha. True... forgot about that :-) Jun 21 17:04:00 You can also just erase the sysconf partition from redboot, but that has risks too. :) Jun 21 17:04:59 yes I was just thinking that too, just re-flash the sysconfig partition Jun 21 17:07:07 I've gotten burned by "upslug2", perhaps because it's not meant for fatslugs, and tftp has never done me wrong (so far). Jun 21 18:40:32 I really want to a D-Link DSM-G600 version A, anyone know where to get one? Jun 21 22:31:07 hiya ppl im using the debian install and it has ben s stuck on 84% for a long time is this normal ,i can still ssh into the box Jun 21 22:32:20 hmm, I saw that once, I would suggest getting on #debian-arm channel on oftc IRC server Jun 21 22:34:04 RobNC, thats channel invite only got auto kicked stright away Jun 21 22:34:21 no, it's another server Jun 21 22:34:30 hehe Jun 21 22:34:50 irc.oftc.net Jun 21 22:36:44 thanks RobNC Jun 21 22:37:31 np **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sun Jun 22 02:59:57 2008
