**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Mon May 04 02:59:57 2009 May 04 19:27:43 hi guys... May 04 19:27:49 i am pissed May 04 19:28:33 dude, i have totally debian/nslu2 on my slug for abou 2 years and every half year or so it crashes, and does not reboot May 04 19:29:39 half an hour ago i finished the new install, unplugged the usb stick to make a backup on my pc, and after plugging in again, it down't reboot May 04 19:30:20 i had an external hdd also plugged in, but now it wont start with only system-usb-stick May 04 19:30:38 anyone had that kind of problems this frequently? May 04 19:30:56 and what should i use, when i just want an ftp server? May 04 19:45:28 If all you want is an ftp server, why use debian? There are many advantages to debian, but one of the problems with debian on the NSLU2 is that it has no in-flash recovery means. May 04 19:52:04 so what alternative would you recommend? May 04 19:57:44 There's an article on the wiki that might help. May 04 19:57:55 I confess to being biased. But I would select SlugOS. May 04 19:58:38 thanks mwester May 04 19:58:39 please flame me, when it is a stupid question, but i just flashed unslug, and it beeped and every thing, but now i cant reach the webinterface... May 04 19:59:22 it goes over a ftitz box, but 192.168.1.77 doesn'tz work May 04 20:00:03 A lot of the firmwares go through much trouble to try to preserve your network settings (and sometimes even root passwords)... So it might be if your debian or some older install used dhcp that it has fetched a dhcp addr from your router. May 04 20:05:28 hmm, but the fritz box seems to say nothing about tha possibility May 04 20:06:11 dunno what a "fritz" is, but it could also be that it is using an old static IP that it was given at some point. May 04 20:06:33 okay, thanks... i will try harder ^^ May 04 20:07:02 i almost though you are from germany, because of your lastname mike May 04 20:07:25 but you're obviously not, or u would know what a fritz box is May 04 20:07:32 If all else fails, follow the wiki instructions to reset the sysconfig partition, but do so with extreme care, as you can damage your nslu2 if you mistype while following that procedure. May 04 20:07:33 :-) May 04 20:11:29 sysconfig seems kinda hard, i will try that later, but thanks a lot mwester **** ENDING LOGGING AT Tue May 05 02:59:57 2009
