**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Sun Jun 21 03:00:04 2009 Jun 21 16:30:30 the permissions on my samba shares are driving me nuts, anyone here good with samba problems? Jun 21 16:31:01 i have two disks mounted via /unslung/rc.samba Jun 21 16:31:25 the rc.samba also adds lines to /etc/samba/smb.conf Jun 21 16:31:30 (unslung 6.10) Jun 21 16:31:54 (samba v3.0.11) Jun 21 16:32:28 on my laptop running ubuntu, i've added the two shares into my /etc/fstab so that they get mounted at bootup (using cifs mode) Jun 21 16:33:08 i have read and write access to the files that are shared, and all seems to work fine... Jun 21 16:33:36 however if i create a file or directory myself, i don't have read or write access to the file or directory! Jun 21 16:33:59 i create it, and the owner is (for some reason) root, and the permissions are set to -rw------- Jun 21 16:34:05 so only root can read/write Jun 21 16:34:27 i don't know why the owner is root (I'm not logging on the the share as root, i'm just a guest) Jun 21 16:34:59 so i then tried changing /etc/fstab so that i AM logging on as root - this makes no difference **** ENDING LOGGING AT Mon Jun 22 02:59:57 2009
