**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Tue Aug 25 02:59:56 2009 Aug 25 08:40:23 hmmm. Aug 25 08:40:28 my slug seems to be dying. Aug 25 08:40:48 im not really sure whats wrong with it and im getting frustrated trying to troubleshoot it. Aug 25 08:41:03 im slightly reluctant to replace it with another one, can anyone reccommend any similar device? Aug 25 09:00:24 Sheevaplug seems to be the common one people are going for Aug 25 09:00:31 lead time to get one is 4-6 weeks though Aug 25 09:04:48 hmmm Aug 25 09:04:53 not heard of that one Aug 25 09:04:55 * HRH_H_Crab googles Aug 25 09:06:50 o.O Crab Aug 25 09:07:04 lo Appocomaster Aug 25 09:09:09 ih Aug 25 09:09:26 *hi. Aug 25 09:19:36 Since yesterday, my nslu crashes whenever I plug in any USB device (printer, USB-Stick, disk). I guess it's bricked? Aug 25 09:20:10 I had unslung on it and just tried SlugOS but it's the same. Aug 25 09:24:51 fschmitt: if its any consolation mine seems to be going tits up too. Aug 25 09:25:06 woke up this morning and it was in perpetual rebooting mode! \o/ Aug 25 09:30:35 Hmm. Seems some people have similar symptoms with broken power supply. I should have a lab power supply unit somewhere... Aug 25 09:42:35 yeah i might try that Aug 25 09:42:49 but all my leds are on, and bright Aug 25 09:42:58 the main power lamp is on and bright Aug 25 09:43:04 and the lamp on the psu is bright! Aug 25 09:43:21 but i guess it couldnt hurt to buy a replacement and see if it makes a difference. Aug 25 09:43:43 the one thing which makes me think that could be it, was that all the problems seemed to start about a week after i had attached a usb wireless nic, Aug 25 09:43:58 which presumably increased the work that the psu had to do quite considerably. Aug 25 09:47:27 hmmm. just reading the powersupply stuff on nslu2-linux. Aug 25 09:47:30 maybe there is hope. Aug 25 13:15:03 hi guys, I'm doing a project involving communication with the USB port on an NSLU2. I've been told that I need a kernel module called cdc-acm. I've read that it should be included in the linux kernel, but I guess that the kernel SlugOSBE uses does not include it, at least I can't find it anywhere on the box. Can anyone tell me where to get this kernel module? Aug 25 13:30:15 tmadsen: you'll prob. need to compile it i guess. Aug 25 13:34:17 from where? HRH_H_Crab, do you know? Aug 25 13:34:31 I can't find it anywhere using google Aug 25 13:34:37 tmadsen: well, your first step would be to find kernel source for SlugOS Aug 25 13:34:43 and then you would need a toolchain. Aug 25 13:34:51 but i cant help much as i don't use SlugOs. Aug 25 13:35:14 Ok, I was given the impression that I should just find it on the web Aug 25 13:35:42 so I was hoping it would be a package that I could just download, but as I said ... can't find it :/ Aug 25 13:36:44 http://www.slug-firmware.net/ Aug 25 13:36:53 there is a link for slugos source code on there, Aug 25 13:37:13 but building kernel modules (esp. on embedded systems) may not be trivial for the uninitiated. Aug 25 13:37:28 your best bet could be to try and get in touch with the slugos devs. Aug 25 13:37:37 maybe you can get someone to build it for you. Aug 25 13:37:50 ok, thanks for your help Aug 25 13:38:01 (disclaimer: i have no idea if that code contains the source code for that kernel module) Aug 25 17:13:42 fschmitt: i bought a new psu and it booted first time! Aug 25 17:14:07 i think that was the problem. Aug 25 17:14:40 couldnt believe it because all the lamps were looking really good, but i guess looks can deceive. Aug 25 17:14:49 anyway, we'll see what happens over the next couple of days. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Wed Aug 26 02:59:57 2009
