**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Tue Mar 23 02:59:57 2010 **** BEGIN LOGGING AT Tue Mar 23 11:58:15 2010 Mar 23 17:14:32 any gurus here who would kindly help someone in a bit over his head? :) Mar 23 17:15:03 i will try to be concise in describing my issue... here's the details Mar 23 17:15:28 slugos/le 5.3 beta flashed and turned up to two 16gb memory sticks in raid1 Mar 23 17:16:30 i had set up raid1 on slugos/le 4.8 previously so that part was familiar, and it's so much easier now that its built-in Mar 23 17:16:39 anyway, things were going fine Mar 23 17:17:21 then i had a huge 6gb file that i needed to access, so I needed to hook up my external hard drive (which is powered from AC, not from USB) Mar 23 17:17:44 fat32 will not handle a single file that large so I formatted the drive as ntfs on my windows pc, copied the file over, and connected it Mar 23 17:18:05 the OS saw it fine, gave it sdc1 but when I tried to mount it, it wouldn't Mar 23 17:18:32 obviously no ntfs driver present Mar 23 17:18:55 so i did an ipkg list ntfs* and saw that there was an ntfs-3g package for slugos/le Mar 23 17:19:44 so i do an ipkg install ntfs-3g and it seems to install fine but gives me a "ntfs-3g: unsatisfied recommendation for kernel-module-fuse" message during the install Mar 23 17:20:01 googling that didn't come up with much of anything useful to me so I decided to ignore it Mar 23 17:20:14 still couldn't mount the drive so I thought I'd try a reboot Mar 23 17:20:51 long story short: I get the triple beep but as far as I can tell I'm not pulling an IP (slug was set for dhcp) and therefore I cant ssh in to remove that package Mar 23 17:21:07 now I know that if I pull the flash drives out, the slug should boot to internal flash Mar 23 17:21:45 but what are my options from there? I would really like to avoid having to redo everything because I've spent about 5 hours customizing already Mar 23 17:22:21 so can i somehow boot up to the internal flash, then plug in one or both flash drives (I don't care about the raid--I can rebuild the mirror once everything is fixed) Mar 23 17:22:43 and get rid of the ntfs-3g driver (or even better, get it working properly)? Mar 23 17:27:56 sorry if this is a really noobish question... i've had my slug for over 2 years now but haven't been that adventurous with it and until now I've always been able to reach it via ssh Mar 23 17:30:24 ok nevermind... I am an idiot Mar 23 17:30:42 which you may already have ascertained :) Mar 23 17:35:05 ok confirmed I still have ssh access to the slug, but the ntfs-3g driver didn't seem to work. when i try to mount /dev/sdc1 i get mount: unknown filesystem type 'ntfs' Mar 23 17:35:41 i will uninstall the package for now, but if anyone knows of a way to get ntfs working under slugos/le 5.3 I'd much appreciate any pointers Mar 23 17:36:21 I dont need write access if that matters--just need to be able to get files >4GB over to the slug, which fat32 can't do **** ENDING LOGGING AT Wed Mar 24 02:59:57 2010
