**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Thu Jan 06 02:59:58 2011 Jan 07 00:31:09 hi all Jan 07 00:32:25 i'm having trouble getting my nslu2 to recognise a disk after running along nicely for a year or two Jan 07 00:32:47 I've had a look at the DiskNotRecognized FAQ, but it doesn't seem applicable Jan 07 00:34:07 all the partitions show up when i connect the drive (a 500GB mybook, I *think*) to my computer, SMART status checks out and the partitions are seemingly fine - fsck and a backup worked without error Jan 07 00:35:30 weirdly, while the drive is now not recognised at boot, the initial problem is it seemed to suddenly disappear / not be recognised while running Jan 07 00:36:14 anyway, my first question - how do I figure out which firmware I'm running? a bit embarrassing, but it's been so long that I've forgotten! Jan 07 00:36:37 uname -a says: Linux nslu2 2.6.21.7 #1 PREEMPT Mon Dec 24 23:12:24 UTC 2007 armv5teb unknown Jan 07 00:37:23 which would suggest SlugOS per the wiki, but I have ipkg, not opkg Jan 07 00:38:42 well, the wiki isn;t clear, it says ipkg in some places for SlugOS but opkg on SlugOS/InstallandTurnupABasicSlugOSSystem Jan 07 00:47:20 also, i have neither 'turnup' nor 'unsling' binaries Jan 07 00:58:41 if i forget about rescuing whatever is on the nslu2 now, is it possible to do a factory reset? Jan 07 01:49:38 having flashed slugosBE 5.3, i now have a problem when i attach the usb disk - the nslu2 fails to recognise it, cycles through a series of flashing leds, and stops responding to the network Jan 07 01:50:04 this is the same disk that is recognised and checks out fine when attached to a regular computer Jan 07 01:50:46 the nslu2 stops responding whichever usb port I plug into, incidentally Jan 07 01:50:52 any thoughts from anyone please? Jan 07 01:52:34 (the nlsu2 will start responding again if i unplug the disk) Jan 07 02:00:32 dmesg has no additional output on connecting / disconnecting the disk **** ENDING LOGGING AT Fri Jan 07 02:59:58 2011
