May 18 12:14:42 03oleo * r6051 10optware/trunk/make/amule.mk: amule: create two packages - regular and adunanza May 18 12:21:57 'lo May 18 12:23:52 I've an issue with my UnSlung6.8 slug at home: Running unslung to a 1gb usb stick, with a 300gb NTFS disk attached. Running mt-daapd, samba & nothing else. The Slug will hang in times of high disk usage (e.g. asking it to copy about 300mb of MP3s to my desktop PC) requiring a reboot to be able to SSH in, access samba or the daap server May 18 12:23:55 Hello, blaster8 asked me to report whether the development version of slugos running on my nslu2 has a time change within 24 hours. It is after 48 hours the corrent time. May 18 12:24:00 anyone have any ideas / suggestions? May 18 12:24:14 get the feeling it's prob an NTFS thing so may just abandon NTFS and reformat May 18 13:10:29 GICarey: http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Unslung/KnownProblems -- Your symptoms are consistent with the known failure modes of the Linksys NTFS driver. May 18 13:11:35 Hmmm... ignore the URL. Seems that problem never got documented there, despite it being a well-known problem. :( May 18 13:11:42 :) May 18 13:11:46 i was just going to say May 18 13:12:17 ok, so, bail on NTFS (not as important to me now as it originally was, as I've an ext3 driver on my WinXP box and my MacBook) and all should be well? May 18 13:13:10 I read something on switching to a different linux driver, but was having trouble getting the ipkg installed and eventually required sleep last night :) May 18 13:13:39 There really isn't another driver for Unslung. May 18 13:14:01 I'm aware of options for SlugOS (aka OpenSlug) and Debian, but not Unslung. May 18 13:14:27 03oleo * r6052 10optware/trunk/make/transmission.mk: transmission: r1865->r1874 - strip daemon May 18 13:14:49 If you go with ext3, watch that you don't run into the also-well-known problem with multiple natively-formatted devices on the NSLU2. May 18 13:18:52 erm.... go on? May 18 13:19:13 oh, this the thing where it chucks some vital data onto a drive you may then remove & screw your slug up? May 18 13:19:44 hmmm, may just reflash & re-unsling to the 300gb HDD and recover my USB drive May 18 13:20:01 Yep. If you have two native devices, you need to be unslung to the one in USB port 1 to be safe. May 18 13:20:20 yeah, think i'm on port 2 with a USB pen @ the moment May 18 13:21:12 ok, so, to start again - do I just reflash from the web interface in unslung? May 18 13:21:21 or do i have to go through some other arcane ritual? May 18 13:22:45 i know, there's prob a doc on it somewhere ;) May 18 13:24:31 Should be documents on it. Also the mailing list archives will document information. You don't have to reflash, just boot from flash, then unsling again. It will May 18 13:24:43 complain the first time that it's already unslung, but May 18 13:25:11 it will clear the flag that tells it so, and after you reboot you can redo the unsling command again. May 18 13:28:55 mwester, is the risk of not having the unslung disk in usb port 1 that the firmware that might choose the wrong disk at bootup, or that the fstab will try to mount from the wrong device ? May 18 13:29:11 Much more complicated. May 18 13:30:36 Read http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Unslung/WhichUSBPortforUnslung6 for the behavior, specifically how the Linksys code mounts the "conf" partitions when it has two native devices, each with a conf partition availalbe. May 18 13:32:08 ok, so I go something like: reformat NTFS disk using slug & it's own 3 partition scheme, verify it works; shutdown, yank everything, reboot; telnet in, connect drive, unsling, changing password, ignore error & reboot, leaving disk connected; telnet in, unsling again(?). Reinstall packages as I like May 18 13:33:03 or do i not do the telnet/connect drive/unsling the first time, simply reboot, telnet in, ignore whinge which resets flag, then reboot, telnet, connect & unsling?
