**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Fri Jul 04 02:59:57 2008 Jul 04 04:55:44 Hey all, I have been trying to get snd-usb-audio to load. The ones i find in the trees for the current slug kernel version (2.6.21.7) will not load. ideas on where i can find one that will or a guide to give me a kick int eh right direction for making a proper kernel tree to build from so i can compile my own modules? Jul 04 05:16:22 sellout_: which firmware? Jul 04 05:21:10 I am pretty sure it is 4.8 but it has been a couple of mons. How can i tell? Jul 04 05:21:22 i know it is kernel 2.6.21.7 and i am pretty sure that only shipped with 4.8 but i could be wrong Jul 04 05:21:47 @ rwhitby Jul 04 05:22:45 the way to reproduce the SlugOS 4.8 kernel build is to build slugosbe-4.8-beta using the master makefile Jul 04 05:23:40 alternatively, if you're an experienced kernel builder, you can use our kernel svn repo at http://svn.nslu2-linux.org/svnroot/kernel/trunk/ Jul 04 05:23:42 so grab the source, get an arm toolchain (or else do it on the slog) then build whatever modules i want out of it. Jul 04 05:24:23 if you just want to build modules, the kernel svn repo is probably the easiest Jul 04 05:32:32 rwhitby: so I see a patches tree for 2.6.21, so am i going to just pull down a 2.6.21.7 vanilla sources from kenrel.org, apply all those patches to it, copy the defconfig to .config and make the modules I want from there? Jul 04 05:34:17 sellout_: just change the variables in the Makefile and make kernel Jul 04 05:36:04 all i am seeing in that svn are patchsets, not source trees, am I missing something? Jul 04 05:36:23 excuse me if a sound retarded ^_^ Jul 04 05:37:09 rwhitby: ^ Jul 04 05:41:23 * sellout_ patches a 2.6.21 vanilla and crosses fingers Jul 04 06:11:07 sellout_: there is a Makefile at the top-level of the directory I pointed at Jul 04 06:11:30 but yes, you can just use the quilt patchset and defconfig file on a vanilla kernel Jul 04 06:11:52 the KERNEL file says what version the patches apply to Jul 04 06:33:30 ah i se, the makefile does all teh work for you! brilliant! Jul 04 06:33:34 thanks :-) Jul 04 07:05:39 sellout_: if you want the default module set changed, just send a request with a patch for defconfig to the nslu2-developers list Jul 04 15:59:44 03bzhou * r8658 10optware/trunk/ (Makefile platforms/toolchain-cs05q3armel.mk): enable OS X as HOST_OS for optware/cs05q3armel Jul 04 16:01:39 03bzhou * r8659 10optware/trunk/AUTHORS: AUTHORS: changed email for bzhou Jul 04 16:08:32 03bzhou * r8660 10optware/trunk/make/squid.mk: squid: 2.6.20 -> 2.6.21 Jul 04 18:18:24 s`31 Jul 04 23:01:46 03bzhou * r8661 10optware/trunk/make/ (apr-util.mk apr.mk): apr/apr-util: 1.3.0 -> 1.3.2 Jul 04 23:14:44 03bzhou * r8662 10optware/trunk/make/asterisk14.mk: asterisk14: LDFLAGS for syno-e500 Jul 04 23:15:12 03bzhou * r8663 10optware/trunk/make/asterisk16.mk: asterisk16: LDFLAGS for syno-e500 Jul 04 23:16:10 03bzhou * r8664 10optware/trunk/make/socat.mk: socat: undef HAVE_LINUX_EXT2_FS_H if syno-e500 Jul 04 23:18:28 03bzhou * r8665 10optware/trunk/make/atftp.mk: atftp: argz.h.patch if syno-e500 **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sat Jul 05 02:59:57 2008
