**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Tue Jul 01 02:59:56 2008 Jul 01 06:41:17 So. I'm basically looking for a board that has a single RJ-45 and several RJ-11s, runs Linux and Asterisk and is capable of sending a VoIP stream to several regular phones and vice versa. Has anyone seen a board that can do this? Or does anyone have any knowledge of the kinds of chips that would be needed to control the RJ-11s as the hardware design companies I've approached have never worked with anything like it? Jul 01 07:09:43 morning Jul 01 07:22:32 n8 all Jul 01 08:18:10 slightly OT, is anyone aware of a generic GPIO-layer for linux? (so that one could poke at GPIO pins from userspace) Jul 01 08:21:19 czr_: which cpu? Jul 01 08:21:41 hi hrw, pxa27x at the moment, but looking for a more "generic" approach Jul 01 08:22:07 seems like there are patches for drivers for various boards floating around, but no generic way of doing it, which seems slightly odd. Jul 01 08:22:41 czr_: there is pxaregs for pxa cpus, s3c_gpio for samsung ones Jul 01 08:22:42 czr_: there is a generic framework for GPIOs in the kernel, it is not exported to userspace Jul 01 08:23:07 zecke, yes, but I'm talking about userspace here :-) Jul 01 08:23:14 hrw, those are userspace packages or what? Jul 01 08:26:19 ah, a package, thanks :-) Jul 01 08:28:26 hmm. seems the package is for pxa250 only though, hrw, you have used it with pxa27x? Jul 01 08:33:36 pxaregs is not pxa250 only Jul 01 08:35:47 hmm. testing it now, thanks for the suggestion (the 250 thing was based on cursory homepage reading, it only mentioned 250) Jul 01 08:51:46 hrw, worked like a charm, thanks Jul 01 09:36:30 morning ! Jul 01 09:36:49 how can i get an image with grub-bootloader ? Jul 01 09:55:26 how do I update the packages lists after building new packages? any ideas? Jul 01 09:57:06 bitbake package-index Jul 01 09:57:34 thanks Jul 01 09:58:01 I gather it's normal for the index not to be rebuilt each time a new package is built or a package is rebuilt? Jul 01 09:58:11 it is normal Jul 01 09:58:39 * czr_ nods Jul 01 11:01:30 is there a way to get grub preinstalled on an openembedded image ? Jul 01 11:17:58 dl9pf: yes, this should be possible but is not currently supported AFAIK Jul 01 11:18:29 dl9pf: I have done this in the past using image loopback mounts, and I'm not sure if that's allowed/easy under fakeroot() Jul 01 11:18:52 http://blog.haerwu.biz/2008/07/01/packaged-staging-and-what-it-gives/ Jul 01 11:24:04 likewise dl9pf : grub can be a royal pain to install with loopback Jul 01 11:24:43 steliosk: I know, it was, but it worked for my case. (TM) Jul 01 11:25:02 i did some work on it a few weeks back, but gave up as there were other more pressing matters Jul 01 11:25:11 it's hard to do this in a generic way, so do not expect it in oE soon. Jul 01 11:25:18 did you have one partition or 2 ? Jul 01 11:25:21 steliosk: I have a document with all the steps I did. Jul 01 11:25:31 steliosk: doesn't matter, I could create any number of partitions Jul 01 11:27:52 well i was stuck on the way to handle multiple partitions in a loopback device Jul 01 11:27:59 without been root Jul 01 11:28:09 that was the major problem Jul 01 11:28:50 likewise : if you post the instructions let me know Jul 01 11:29:47 now i noticed again. fakeroot did not worked in my case :( Jul 01 11:30:38 steliosk: I did it outside OE, so yes, fakeroot is hurdle (1), making it generic is hurdle (2) ... Jul 01 12:00:13 likewise: re ... tnx for the tips - i need it for cfcard-imaging Jul 01 12:02:39 dl9pf: yup, it would work. I'll lookup the docs when I'm at home Jul 01 12:03:22 likewise: great! could you drom me a note ? @gmx dot de Jul 01 12:03:49 will try to remember, but just pester me when I'm around here Jul 01 12:54:24 likewise: ok Jul 01 13:26:48 Am I correct in believing the below error message says libnet-1.1.1 is missing? Jul 01 13:26:49 ERROR: Required build target 'python-pycap' has no buildable providers. Jul 01 13:26:50 Missing or unbuildable dependency chain was: ['python-pycap', 'libnet-1.1.1'] Jul 01 13:32:15 try again Jul 01 13:32:34 I have noticed something weird where I need to run bb twice Jul 01 13:35:26 I have another question. By running 'bitbake world' im not really building every sourcefile, but only the ones specified by local.conf, right? Jul 01 13:35:38 no Jul 01 13:35:41 every Jul 01 13:36:05 So, what argument do i pass if i for example want to build OPLinux? Jul 01 13:36:24 OPLinux is distribution not recipe Jul 01 13:36:34 Ok.. Jul 01 13:37:44 you probably want "bitbake oplinux-packages" Jul 01 13:37:57 as there is meta/oplinux-packages.bb recipe Jul 01 13:39:30 Let's see how that works. Thanks! Jul 01 13:40:34 hi Jul 01 13:51:33 Crofton: explain what you see running bb twice? Jul 01 13:51:50 Crofton: ah that was a remark to someone else :-) Jul 01 13:51:52 Crofton: nm Jul 01 13:53:12 basically when I rebuild boost-jam-native after editing the bb file, the first get unsatisfied dependency Jul 01 13:53:18 the second run parses and works Jul 01 13:53:29 I just noticed this in the last hour Jul 01 13:53:43 well, noticed in a way I can describe Jul 01 13:59:47 exit Jul 01 14:54:12 bye Jul 01 14:54:21 bye Jul 01 16:16:35 first spam eliminated on the OE wiki Jul 01 16:16:49 Maybe we'll need to lock things tighter soon Jul 01 16:17:00 Laibsch: :-( Jul 01 16:17:38 Well, I am not sad Jul 01 16:17:49 I am glad we got by thus far without lock-down Jul 01 16:18:01 BTW, do you know about patrolling on mediawiki? Jul 01 16:18:18 http://wiki.openembedded.net/index.php?title=Special:Recentchanges&hidepatrolled=1 Jul 01 16:18:29 Laibsch: no, I have not looked at this yet ... Jul 01 16:19:24 Laibsch: I've been travelling the past week, so trying to get caught up Jul 01 16:19:47 Wow, the minute I reverted the change, the next spam hit us Jul 01 16:19:48 Laibsch: I have the OE wiki changes in my RSS reader, so I hope to be able to watch things that way Jul 01 16:20:02 Laibsch: what does patrolling add? Jul 01 16:22:03 I use RSS, too Jul 01 16:22:12 patrolling says "the page is clean" Jul 01 16:22:36 patrolling can only be done by privileged accounts Jul 01 16:22:52 Laibsch: so you have been marking on the patrolled flag then as changes come in Jul 01 16:23:11 Laibsch: or perhaps that is automatic with admin account changes Jul 01 16:26:09 I guess admin changes are marked as patrolled automatically Jul 01 16:26:47 Laibsch: Spam protection with Textchas works great. No spam in the ltg wiki for ages. Jul 01 16:28:08 yes Jul 01 16:28:28 We'll get to it when the spam gets worse Jul 01 16:31:45 hello everybody. Jul 01 16:32:13 can anyone tell me how to write a task that takes params in my recipe? the oe manual mentions it is possible but does not elaborate. Jul 01 16:32:32 when i try the obvious my_method(a,b) { } it fails with parse errors. Jul 01 16:36:53 i'm wondering if I have to use a bbclass and break into python for this...? Jul 01 16:37:54 or perhaps inline python with the @ symbol, but wouldn't scoping prevent any declarations made in the python code, such as functions, to be accessible from the recipe code? Jul 01 16:44:39 hmm..well grepping through recipes seems to indicate that no one does this Jul 01 16:45:07 which would seem to make the () part of a task definition unnecessary... Jul 01 16:45:30 assuming it implies a parameter list Jul 01 16:45:55 * kgilmer will look at writting a bbclass for this in python. Jul 01 17:27:40 ~seen jeremy_laine Jul 01 17:27:45 jeremy_laine was last seen on IRC in channel #oe, 20d 58m 8s ago, saying: 'Fidget: hm, that's what I'm trying to avoid'. Jul 01 19:22:06 thinking in bitbake/recipes can be tough :) Jul 01 19:23:04 n8 Jul 01 19:24:02 zecke_: gn Jul 01 19:33:37 * otavio asks if someone knows about git migration?
