**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Thu Apr 23 02:59:59 2015 Apr 23 04:37:32 hi guys Apr 23 04:37:39 good morning Apr 23 08:58:46 morning all Apr 23 09:10:58 mornin bluelightning Apr 23 09:22:35 woglinde: don't suppose you're around? Apr 23 09:43:15 hello RP Apr 23 09:51:16 woglinde: Hi! Was wondering if you had any ideas about a java performance issue I'm seeing. I'm running eclipse against openjdk from meta-java but there seems to be a big performance difference between libjvm.so from our build and the one from my Ubuntu desktop system. The Ubuntu one says its in Server mixed mode (with java -version), the OE built one says Zero interpreted mode. Am I missing something obvious? Apr 23 09:51:39 woglinde: I can't see to put the OE one into server mode at all Apr 23 09:52:05 woglinde: java is not something I know anything about :/ Apr 23 09:52:20 rp which architecture? Apr 23 09:52:33 woglinde: amd64 Apr 23 09:52:39 hm okay yes Apr 23 09:52:53 amd64 has a full hotspot Apr 23 09:53:12 but looks like we only build zero even for amd64 Apr 23 09:53:43 and to be hontest I never tested x86 or x64 builds from meta-java Apr 23 09:54:11 woglinde: fair enough. Any hints about what I need to enable? Is this shark? Apr 23 09:54:41 which version? Apr 23 09:54:45 do you use Apr 23 09:55:53 woglinde: openjdk-7-jre/25b30-2.3.12-r5.1 Apr 23 09:56:55 hm okay Apr 23 09:57:22 I would also suggest use the patches from sven ebenfeld which builds you a newer version Apr 23 09:58:07 woglinde: I was just using what was in the repo :) Apr 23 09:58:07 they are not in master yet because they are not tested again uclibc Apr 23 09:58:16 woglinde: fair enough Apr 23 09:58:22 yes and that version is old Apr 23 09:58:28 compare to ubuntu Apr 23 09:59:04 hm 2.5.5 is now released Apr 23 10:00:27 rp sorry I have no much time at the moment but you could apt-get source opnejdk-7-jre on ubuntu and look at the rules file for what is needed for the full citizen hotspot Apr 23 10:01:20 woglinde: ok, thanks. I was just hoping I was missing something simple! Apr 23 10:01:34 http://icedtea.classpath.org/hg/icedtea7/file/eaf44fc8a98e/acinclude.m4 around line 704 Apr 23 10:03:18 woglinde: thanks, that helps Apr 23 10:06:19 RP: https://github.com/Angstrom-distribution/meta-angstrom/commit/2b1c1bee4d55307e844b8bb1cbf4f419e5a3092e Apr 23 10:06:36 RP: that made jenkins run 10-20x faster on my i7 Apr 23 10:07:17 koen: that looks like just what I need, thanks! Apr 23 10:07:23 koen thanks for throwing it back to meta-java Apr 23 10:08:18 didn't khem submit it a few years ago? Apr 23 10:08:42 why you need a tweak than? Apr 23 10:09:07 and why RP's build say zero is usef Apr 23 10:09:11 args used Apr 23 10:19:11 submitting stuff to meta-java isn't a guarantee that it gets applied Apr 23 10:31:39 woglinde: and that's a tweak for 2013.12, I haven't checked if more recent versions need it Apr 23 11:07:39 koen: confirmed that helps a lot in my VM Apr 23 11:18:43 RP: thanks! Apr 23 11:19:13 I guess I should see if openjdk builds for fido and master and try submitting it upstream Apr 23 11:19:40 something on the host side breaks the openjdk builds since 2013.12 :( Apr 23 11:23:10 koen otavio is now responsible for meta-java Apr 23 13:11:04 Hi, Can i have svn:// repos in layers.txt file? Or oebb.sh don't understand svn protocol? Apr 23 13:29:40 spasz: despite the name, oebb.sh is an Angstrom-specific thing... I believe it is limited to git only though Apr 23 13:36:46 bluelightning, Thank you for answer. Now i clearly see what to do. Apr 23 13:37:14 koen: I'd had issues with dash FWIW but am planning to send patches Apr 23 13:37:28 BTW : Do you know how to generate system image without package maanger, for example : without opkg, with only busybox? Apr 23 13:40:48 spasz: that is controlled by package-manager being in IMAGE_FEATURES - if it's present, then the package manager (e.g. opkg) will be installed Apr 23 13:41:00 spasz: the Angstrom default is to include it Apr 23 19:20:50 Anyone know how to reset the populare counters on oe.org (mediawiki) Apr 23 21:08:31 What do you guys think?
