**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Fri Jun 05 02:59:59 2015 Jun 05 08:03:53 morning all Jun 05 09:04:31 bluelightning: celebrating my 25th year with IRC in two years... :/ Jun 05 09:05:19 bluelightning: morning (^hmm, responding to an older discussion with akrem, never mind) Jun 05 09:05:25 heh Jun 05 09:05:40 bluelightning: guess still learning (new) IRC (clients). Jun 05 09:05:51 I can't say I've been on IRC that long, I only really started using it because of OE and other related projects Jun 05 09:06:20 I think IRC is my first Unix experience, besides e-mail. Jun 05 09:07:24 Maybe OT, what IRC clients are used amongst you. I was accustomed to ChatZilla, but it needs Firefox, and Firefox needs more restarts lately. Looking for a server/client based on with logging etc. Jun 05 09:08:15 i use quassel-irc, and i am very happy about it... been using it for several years now.. Jun 05 09:08:46 irssi <3 Jun 05 09:08:47 the client/server is working very well, and the android client is a nice bonus Jun 05 09:09:31 notifications over XMPP or MQTT and with optional proxy for mobile clients and such Jun 05 09:10:08 tbr: hehe.. fun project to set that up, i suspect ;-) Jun 05 09:10:31 ndec: not that hard, really Jun 05 09:10:46 konversation here Jun 05 09:11:31 ndec: maintaining the actual scripts for irssi is a different story... ;-) (I inherited the XMPP script and maintain it nowadays) Jun 05 09:11:47 and the mqtt script descends from it Jun 05 09:11:53 yeah... i used irssi before... Jun 05 09:37:58 bluelightning: Your advice worked... I can now programatically disable noexecs Jun 05 09:38:07 no brainer really if you know how Jun 05 09:38:09 pompomJuice: great Jun 05 09:38:44 I got a bit hot on the collar yesterday... freaking out a bit Jun 05 13:48:16 if you make changes to a layer.conf, does it cause a complete rebuild? Jun 05 13:49:10 it wouldn't usually no Jun 05 13:49:36 it would depend on exactly what you changed Jun 05 13:50:04 tasks get re-executed when their signatures changed, i.e. when one of their input variables changed Jun 05 15:21:58 bluelightning: is there a way to specify a branch to "bitbake-layers layerindex-fetch"? Jun 05 15:22:47 tlwoerner: yes, -b or --branch Jun 05 15:23:32 bluelightning: great! looks like the usage text could use an update ;-) Jun 05 15:23:49 tlwoerner: at least the --help output is current Jun 05 15:32:54 bluelightning: ah sorry, i was looking at the general bitbake-layers help Jun 05 15:50:31 I'm blanking.. whats the recipe variable to indicate that you don't want it to be the (default) preferred version? Jun 05 15:50:45 DEFAULT_PREFERENCE? Jun 05 15:51:49 DEFAULT_PREFERENCE = "-1" Jun 05 15:54:42 thanks Jun 05 18:44:16 is anyone familiar with bitbake-whatchanged? I'm getting a lot (275) of "newly added tasks" without making any changes. Most of them are for -native dependencies, with the rest of them being gcc/glibc stuff. The same list of 48 dependencies appears below under a "dependencies changed" list, and all of them have do_rm_work listed. Is this because I inherited the rm_work class? Jun 05 21:38:47 I've been looking through the OE/Yocto layers and cant seem to find a Mame frontend. What frontend for mame are most OE builders using today? Jun 05 21:40:52 the game thing? Jun 05 21:41:04 did you try the layer index? Jun 05 21:42:18 Crofton: yes the game thing. Yes I tried the layer index. Intered Mame and its coming up blank. Seems weird to me, I would think Mame would be in there, but maybe my age is showing ;-) Jun 05 21:42:51 Yeah, we are all serious now Jun 05 21:43:33 OE is big business now Jun 05 21:43:39 no one has time for fun Jun 05 21:43:59 Crofton: Lol I use OE a ton for professional stuff but still really enjoy the home hobby hacking too. Jun 05 21:44:48 We need meta-mame Jun 05 21:45:43 opkg install defender Jun 05 21:45:49 opkg install space-invaders Jun 05 21:45:58 Crofton: the Pi has mame stuff already but (although I use it for some media stuff) I really like to stay away from it for home hobby stuff since its not open hardware. Jun 05 21:47:22 Crofton: Actually I was the first to port FSUEX to OE shortly after OE was started. I was working for a company and wanted to test the audio + USB + LCD before the software was ready and I thought what better way than Zelda. Jun 05 21:47:41 Yeah, I knew you nick was familiar Jun 05 21:49:11 I'm thinking the layer should be called meta-the80s Jun 05 21:49:19 heh Jun 05 21:49:23 70's :) Jun 05 22:12:42 ls Jun 05 22:13:04 sorry, wrong window **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sat Jun 06 02:59:58 2015
