Jul 08 13:49:43 we'll try to avoid that Jul 08 13:49:49 but not sure Jul 08 13:49:54 good, motels are heavy Jul 08 13:49:58 I'll ping jefro Jul 08 13:50:27 I suspect if dev day is "far" we'll get a bus, or make sure public transport is sane Jul 08 13:50:45 we have the usual problem of conf venue costing too much Jul 08 13:50:57 but we have leads on alternative Jul 08 13:51:03 (s) Jul 08 13:51:41 ALL ABOARD THE YOCTO BUS!! will it be a short bus or a long one? ;-) Jul 08 13:54:00 we had both short and long at ELC :) Jul 08 13:56:20 isn't YP part of LF ? :) Jul 08 14:06:46 heh Jul 08 14:07:01 we do not et special treatment Jul 08 14:07:04 not get Jul 08 14:09:14 ah, hotels out? Dublin is a bit of a mad house :/ Jul 08 14:11:26 * LetoThe2nd is in the lucky situation of not having to deal too much with travel expenses Jul 08 14:12:12 heh Jul 08 14:12:28 saner than .us options Jul 08 14:12:33 so i'll just book whatever offers the best oppurtunities for breakfast chat and socialiting. usually i get about one third of valuable information out of that all conf long Jul 08 14:12:46 Crofton: i'm not adventurous enough for that ;-) Jul 08 14:12:49 Crofton: sure. I guess is all relative ;) Jul 08 14:13:38 LetoThe2nd: absolutely! and then watch the actual presentations back home (if they were recorded) Jul 08 14:15:01 :-) Jul 08 14:15:18 as long as the recordings don't get lost before publishing... Jul 08 14:15:19 I've been told we need to spend all our time in Temple Bar Jul 08 14:15:31 So we do not contaminate the good pubs Jul 08 14:15:53 apparently they try to keep all the Tourons in Temple Bar :) Jul 08 14:17:24 Crofton: if you want a table at the Temple Bar you'll need to start queueing about now Jul 08 14:17:30 Crofton: Temple Bar? Uff. No thanks. I will be somewhere else. You are welcome to join me though :) Jul 08 14:19:31 hrhr Jul 08 14:30:21 man, error message from kernel do_patch are useless Jul 08 14:42:56 hmm... https://wiki.debian.org/Debate/libav-provider/ffmpeg Jul 08 15:23:26 bl gstreamer has switched back to ffmpeg Jul 08 15:26:56 woglinde: from that page it looks like a lot of folks have Jul 08 15:27:03 we may need to revisit our own choice Jul 08 15:44:23 gm all Jul 08 15:52:15 gm Jul 08 16:01:44 morning khem` Jul 08 16:59:34 out of curiosity, who looks through the proposals and decides which ones to take (for elc/e)? is anyone from yp/oe consulted (or in the selection committee)? Jul 08 17:02:41 there is a separate ELCE program committee, not sure who is on it this time Jul 08 17:06:41 i am looking for some var that points to me the SYSROOT target path. But it is nowhere to be found. Does anyone know if there is this var? Jul 08 17:07:05 Should it be ${TMPDIR}/sysroot/${MACHINE} or something like this ? Jul 08 18:30:59 I'm looking into what all BitBake rebuilds after making a source change to a package (foo) and rebuilding an image, and I'm not totally understanding the results. The packages that depend on foo are recompiled and repackaged, as expected. However, there are other packages that are seemingly unrelated, but they are still being repackaged (but not recompiled). What would be causing these packages to get rebuilt? Jul 08 18:31:31 it's not just what depends on foo, it's what depends on what depends on foo, etc, recursively Jul 08 18:35:12 kergoth: right, and for those packages that have some dependency on foo (directly or through an indirect chain like you said), they are being recompiled. These other packages don't have a dependency on foo as far as I can tell from using bitbake -g, and they aren't being recompiled, but the ipks are still being rebuilt Jul 08 18:35:34 the do_package_write_ipk tasks are being executed? Jul 08 18:35:48 you could always use bitbake-whatchanged Jul 08 18:35:55 might work, depends Jul 08 18:42:09 kergoth: yes, do_package_write_ipk is being executed for them. I ran bitbake-whatchanged again, and those packages are listed as having dependencies changed. Maybe I'm not seeing all the dependencies? I'm using -u depexp with bitbake -g to view them Jul 08 18:49:16 consmith: bitbake-whatchanged -v will show the details Jul 08 18:51:41 kergoth: that's much more helpful information. I'll look through it. Thanks Jul 08 18:51:46 np Jul 08 18:52:14 on a related node, when you're building from an empty tmpdir and want to know what changed causing things to build from scratch rather than from sstate, there's bitbake -S printdiff Jul 08 18:52:20 both have their uses Jul 08 18:53:15 Good to know Jul 08 19:17:01 hmm F22 is gcc5 and we can't build on gcc5 for older releases? Jul 08 19:39:43 Crofton|work: yes f22 is PITA Jul 08 19:39:57 for < current master of OE Jul 08 19:40:06 I guess there will be backports Jul 08 19:40:18 that one can do from current master into those components Jul 08 19:40:40 but some were upgraded to take changes to let them work with gcc-5 Jul 08 19:40:48 so that can be harder Jul 08 19:40:54 since there is no 1 to 2 backport Jul 08 19:43:20 I'll make a vm with 21 then :) Jul 08 19:46:28 yeah unless you have time to devote Jul 08 19:46:38 to end the world hunger Jul 08 19:48:03 right now I am at war with making a fedora vm via the interwebs and virt-damager Jul 08 21:33:05 Crofton|work: learn schroot, its easier than a VM Jul 08 21:34:40 docker is more easier as schroot Jul 08 21:53:20 I find systemd-nspawn is easier/simple then all of above Jul 08 22:50:14 systemd-nspawn, like much of the rest of systemd, should really be its own damn project Jul 08 22:50:18 * kergoth rolls eyes **** ENDING LOGGING AT Thu Jul 09 02:59:58 2015
