May 30 11:44:49 <balrog-k1n> turns out they've made some progress on the Palm Pre modem opensource driver and it can now choose a network, answer/reject phone calls and dial, read phonebook, control charging
May 30 11:46:42 <balrog-k1n> there's also a test_alive function with the description "Test, if the modem is still responding to commands" which hints that it's not working perfectly yet
