**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Thu Feb 17 23:59:56 2005 Feb 18 07:22:31 morning folks Feb 18 07:22:45 * prpplague groans at starting back up with apex debugging Feb 18 08:12:39 qbot: greetings Feb 18 08:12:40 i don't know, prpplague Feb 18 08:13:07 qbot: greetings is Howdy! Glad to be here today! Feb 18 08:13:08 okay, prpplague Feb 18 08:13:10 qbot: greetings Feb 18 08:13:10 Howdy! Glad to be here today! Feb 18 09:03:43 <[g2]> how's the new server going ? Feb 18 09:05:33 its going...very tiring..jacques has been working tirelessly Feb 18 09:06:50 <[g2]> you guys have been setting up debian ? Feb 18 09:11:32 yes, but the issue has to do with pulling together all the components for builds Feb 18 09:12:00 I thought that Gentoo might even be better but Joe User isn't quite there yet Feb 18 09:12:16 soon(tm) Feb 18 09:12:36 <[g2]> well the requirement of making it reproduceable is a little cumbersome Feb 18 09:12:47 <[g2]> unless we start maintaining ebuilds Feb 18 09:13:46 <[g2]> ka6sox-web did you have any luck with the FatSlug fedex ? Feb 18 09:14:51 I missed the cutoff the previous day and so I took it to a shipper yesterday Feb 18 09:15:04 today i should get the tracking number and will send it to you. Feb 18 09:15:28 <[g2]> awesome! is it coming ground ? Feb 18 09:15:39 <[g2]> THX Feb 18 09:15:41 3day Feb 18 09:15:51 morning guys Feb 18 09:15:55 * [g2] trembles with anticipation :) Feb 18 09:15:58 morning Feb 18 09:16:06 <[g2]> morning Feb 18 09:16:31 my buddy cpage is having a lot of fun with OpenSlug Feb 18 09:16:38 he's a local Feb 18 09:16:52 <[g2]> awesome, what's he doing ? Feb 18 09:19:25 I think just setting things up Feb 18 09:19:31 adding functionality Feb 18 09:19:45 <[g2]> what kind of stuff ? Feb 18 09:19:47 he has an epia server now but wants a media server I think Feb 18 09:20:08 and to hack on a small python like thing. Feb 18 09:20:16 for small devices. Feb 18 09:25:20 <[g2]> lunch Feb 18 09:41:10 prpplague: the DLP boards are a good value when you think about them. Feb 18 09:41:23 the 2232 part is quite nice :_ Feb 18 09:45:05 <[g2]> re Feb 18 09:46:50 ka6sox-web: yea Feb 18 10:06:14 morning Feb 18 10:07:40 anyone else having problems with the sdram init procedure in apex? Feb 18 10:34:41 argh, i have to re-write this init routine Feb 18 10:37:28 <[g2]> prpplague, I'm having an issue on the copy from nor flash to memory when running from RAM Feb 18 10:40:25 [g2]: ahh yea i think beewoolie mentioned it Feb 18 11:08:13 greetings Feb 18 11:30:55 took a little while to get here.... Feb 18 11:31:03 water is only up to the center of the wheels. Feb 18 11:36:01 ka6sox: heavy rain? Feb 18 11:36:22 yes..last night..so now we see the effects 8hrs later. Feb 18 11:43:24 ka6sox: where are you based? Feb 18 11:44:35 100miles west of L.A. Feb 18 11:51:25 ahh Feb 18 12:23:52 beewoolie: boo Feb 18 12:24:02 boo who Feb 18 12:24:37 beewoolie: btw, i went back to looking at the lineo patch for blob, and noticed lineo did add a section to look for the busy state Feb 18 12:38:53 prpplague: I recommend that you read the Micron datasheet carefully. The BLOB initialization does not follow their guidelines. Feb 18 12:46:16 prpplague: I think you're barking up the wrong tree. Feb 18 12:47:03 beewoolie: just know it works with the check, doesn't without Feb 18 12:47:20 What RAM are you using? Feb 18 12:48:39 beewoolie: the micron from the sharp ref sheet, 8M16A2 Feb 18 12:49:29 beewoolie: http://www.micron.com/products/dram/sdram/part.aspx?part=MT48LC8M16A2TG-75 Feb 18 12:49:31 prpplague: And you're saying that your board now boots when you add a test for the IDLE state after setting the mode? Feb 18 12:49:46 beewoolie: yep, as well as the revely board, and two others Feb 18 12:53:02 beewoolie: this is what i've been using as a guide for my dev - http://www.sharpsma.com/pub/productfocus/publications/micro/mcu/tec_appnote_lh79520_SDRAM_Connection_Usage.pdf Feb 18 12:53:09 prpplague: that wait-for-idle is not suggested by the micron datasheet. it does say wait for idle *before* setting the mode. I used a delay. Feb 18 12:53:54 beewoolie: the wait for idle is for the processor not the ram Feb 18 12:54:09 beewoolie: (as i read it) Feb 18 12:54:44 beewoolie: because you need to wait before writing to the config0 which is for sdram controller Feb 18 12:57:38 prpplague: Fair enough. I'll have to check the other CPUs for this feature. It's odd because no 79520 I've ever used has failed this way. There may be someting in the LPD design that prevents this problem. Feb 18 12:58:28 beewoolie: i'd suspect that too Feb 18 17:15:05 <[g2]> hey beewoolie Feb 18 17:15:21 hey Feb 18 17:15:33 I had a question for you...but I forget. Feb 18 17:15:37 <[g2]> ka6sox, sent the FatSlug the other day Feb 18 17:16:16 <[g2]> it'll be a couple more days then I should be Fat and JTAG enabled Feb 18 17:16:37 <[g2]> Fat, Serial, and JTAG Feb 18 17:21:09 Can we use the extra memory yet? Feb 18 17:24:34 [g2]: Awesome about the fat slug. It should be an easy change to APEX to test it. Feb 18 17:25:00 [g2]: You can write APEX to the sysconfig area and then jump to it. then, APEX will init the SDRAM Feb 18 17:55:35 <[g2]> nod! **** ENDING LOGGING AT Fri Feb 18 23:59:57 2005
