Jul 20 19:09:18 i can't remove from my pc libnl1 because a lot of things use it,and libnl-devel isn't installed,so i guess it's using my one Jul 20 19:16:27 angelox|laptop, don't remove libnl1 Jul 20 19:16:41 it will make network manager not work Jul 20 19:16:45 pkg-config --cflags --libs libnl-2.0 return : -I/opt_fso/fso/usr/include -L/opt_fso/fso/usr/lib -lnl Jul 20 19:16:48 and you will be unable to connect on irc Jul 20 19:16:49 yes i know... Jul 20 19:16:59 yes but look at the actual linking Jul 20 19:17:03 not just the flags Jul 20 19:17:57 angelox|laptop: I guess you're missing -I somewhere so headers are mixed between libnl1 and libnl2.. I have seen the same with OE.. Jul 20 19:19:03 ah.. no, looking on wrong log.. Jul 20 19:19:41 i'm not sure about that output..it should return at the final -lnl ? Jul 20 19:20:23 depends if you have libnl.so.2 or libnl2.so Jul 20 19:20:29 I guess first Jul 20 19:21:00 yes,it is mixing.. Jul 20 19:32:43 i get a lot more of errors than without that Jul 20 19:33:04 http://pastebin.com/Z1nct26J Jul 20 19:36:18 i'll try OE's snapshots Jul 20 19:39:34 OE is not using libnl snapshots anymore.. just 2.0 release Jul 20 19:40:30 i meant cornucopia Jul 20 19:40:36 ah Jul 20 19:40:46 but i was using libnl2 downloaded from OE Jul 20 19:40:49 it was there Jul 20 19:41:45 there still is libnl_git with pre 2.0 snapshot.. but libnl_2.0 is used by default Jul 20 19:42:07 and it's no longer called libnl2 and we have libnl1 instead :) Jul 20 19:43:31 now i'm a lot more confused :) hehe Jul 20 19:44:22 The problem is,on my host pc,i have a Ubuntu 10.04 (x86) and Fedora 15 (x86_64) and i get the same error, and that drives me to be crazy :) Jul 20 19:49:53 bbl Jul 20 20:26:14 Hello Jul 20 20:26:27 I was redirected here from #e to ask a few questions I have about E on mobile phones Jul 20 20:26:35 How does it actually work? The short version is good enough :) Jul 20 20:27:17 DrGrov, hi Jul 20 20:27:23 what mobile phone do you have? Jul 20 20:27:26 Hi GNUtoo|laptop Jul 20 20:27:38 basically it works but you have to know the DPI of your screen Jul 20 20:27:54 At the moment I am using a LG Optimus 2X but I have other better suited phones for experiments ;) Jul 20 20:27:54 so it scales according to your DPI Jul 20 20:28:00 such as? Jul 20 20:28:10 we partially support quite some phones Jul 20 20:28:26 A Samsung Galaxy 3, Nokia N8, Nokia N73, Nokia N97. Any of those good for the task? Jul 20 20:28:41 I am sure I can get a hold of some more if those are not suitable Jul 20 20:28:51 does any of theses run Android or GNU/Linux Jul 20 20:29:15 basically here's the catch: we have a very well supported phone but it's old Jul 20 20:29:17 DrGrov: Nokia N900 is already supported Jul 20 20:29:19 so we port on newer devices Jul 20 20:29:59 N8 isn't Meego phone? Jul 20 20:30:18 if getting a new phone is not a problem you should look at the support matrix that is here: Jul 20 20:30:21 No, N8 is Symbian ^3 Jul 20 20:30:28 angelox|laptop: N9 is Jul 20 20:30:28 http://wiki.freesmartphone.org/index.php/HardwareComparison Jul 20 20:30:38 GNUtoo|laptop: The Samsung Galaxy 3 runs Android Jul 20 20:30:43 enlightenment works fine on all of theses phones Jul 20 20:30:50 JaMa: Ah ok,i confused :) Jul 20 20:30:56 the only thing to do is to add the DPI like in the porting guide Jul 20 20:30:57 My current LG Optimus 2X runs Android as well Jul 20 20:31:13 but I guess you want more than enlightenment Jul 20 20:31:18 like calls, sound etc... Jul 20 20:31:31 JaMa: Ah, then my cousin could be persuaded to test since he has the N900 which I almost gave to him. Jul 20 20:31:40 Yes, I want definitely calls, sound etc. Jul 20 20:31:50 here's the status of the n900 port: Jul 20 20:31:55 N900 call is partial iirc Jul 20 20:31:56 it's a very promizing device Jul 20 20:32:03 since the kenrel is standard Jul 20 20:32:12 and we have source code for ofono and similar Jul 20 20:32:26 so if you can wait a bit or want to help Jul 20 20:32:31 it's the ideal recent device Jul 20 20:32:43 however not everything works out of the box Jul 20 20:33:08 *calls audio isn't great, mrmoku will continue to work on it as soon as newer audio routing is done Jul 20 20:33:23 *modem support is incomplete but we have ofono source + some headers Jul 20 20:33:24 I might be able to ask my cousin tomorrow to see whether he would be interested in "borrowing" me the N900 for test purposes Jul 20 20:33:51 GNUtoo|laptop: what about the battery life with the current kernel? Jul 20 20:33:59 since *you* are interested try to exchange another phone with your cousin's n900 Jul 20 20:34:15 I didn't test the battery life extensively Jul 20 20:34:18 How is the port working for Android? I do not want to alter anything on my main phone which is the LG Optimus 2X but I could do it on the Samsung Galaxy 3 Jul 20 20:34:26 but I guess it's worse than maemo(battery life) Jul 20 20:34:40 define port for android Jul 20 20:34:47 you mean porting SHR to an android phone? Jul 20 20:35:08 I actually almost gave that phone to my cousin so I could try to ask him and then hand him a spare phone for the time being. Not sure he would agree but I can always ask. Jul 20 20:35:11 well we didn't port to the galaxy 3 Jul 20 20:35:16 so you would have to do the port Jul 20 20:35:21 Ok, so the Galaxy 3 is a no go. Jul 20 20:35:31 I go and check that link you posted, GNUtoo|laptop and see what is there. Jul 20 20:35:34 it's a no-go if you don't want to invest a lot of time in it Jul 20 20:35:45 but it can work if you have a lot of time Jul 20 20:35:50 Well, I have a lot of time Jul 20 20:35:57 like a year part time Jul 20 20:36:10 try on the n900 first tough Jul 20 20:36:14 so you have an idea of it Jul 20 20:36:36 * angelox|laptop thinks that patience is also necessary :) Jul 20 20:36:49 I have patience Jul 20 20:37:08 Android is well known now but you'll face a lot of issues if you port to an android phone that is different from one we have Jul 20 20:37:26 for instance you could have a non-standard wifi chip Jul 20 20:37:31 have a non-standard modem Jul 20 20:37:32 etc... Jul 20 20:37:34 I spent the last weekend night between Friday and Saturday trying to get my HTC Sensation back in condition, nothing hardware but software. I spent 16 or 17 hours trying with it before I decided to hand it over to the reseller and change for the LG Optimus 2X. Jul 20 20:37:47 ok Jul 20 20:37:48 So I am quite sure I have the patience required to do this Jul 20 20:38:07 yes, the problem is that all non-standard and non-documented stuff will slow you down Jul 20 20:38:13 the n900 is your best bet Jul 20 20:38:18 try to get back the n900 Jul 20 20:38:27 Yes, I think that would be the way to go. Jul 20 20:38:37 it's almost straingtforward for the n900 but require some work to be done still Jul 20 20:38:45 we lack manpower Jul 20 20:38:48 I definitely do not want to end up messing up all things I have like ex. computer, TV etc etc. Jul 20 20:39:32 not all would be capable of beeing messed up Jul 20 20:39:34 That would be if I get angry with it due to the fact it doesn't work even if I try. I have anger management issues from time to time :) Jul 20 20:39:47 me too Jul 20 20:39:59 But I usually do not stop, I just keep doing it until the damn thing works as I want it to work. Jul 20 20:40:17 basically I got that issue doing the android phones port Jul 20 20:40:20 I never give up unless the missus gets mad. When she gets mad it is time to be a nice boy ;) Jul 20 20:40:48 but n900 is much better Jul 20 20:40:55 and it is more free too Jul 20 20:41:23 the audio is under the main CPU control and the modem has no access to the main CPU ram Jul 20 20:45:06 Hi morphis_! Jul 20 20:47:13 hi morphis_ Jul 20 21:00:31 Well, I will think about this and get back to you Jul 20 22:15:38 in the fstab it does not work, but if comment all coresponding line in fstab and in mountdevsubfs.sh and place a "none /dev/pts devpts defaults 0 0" in fstab then it works.. Jul 20 22:15:54 JaMa: you are right , a remount /dev/pts is enought so same issue as you. What is weird is: if I let no line in fstab but just the mountdevsubfs.sh it does not work, if I uncomment this line "devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0" Jul 20 22:15:58 in the fstab it does not work, but if comment all coresponding line in fstab and in mountdevsubfs.sh and place a "none /dev/pts devpts defaults 0 0" in fstab then it works.. Jul 20 22:17:14 JaMa: and by the way I have no any line in my /proc/config.gz about PTS Jul 20 22:28:03 JaMa: ok executing a seconde time /etc/init.d/mountdevsubfs.sh after a boot like this ssh root@moko "/etc/init.d/mountdevsubfs.sh" Jul 20 22:28:03 fix the pts issue so yes curenntly it does not like been mount to early. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Thu Jul 21 02:59:56 2011
