Mar 03 05:42:01 I know survey is boring.... Mar 03 05:42:36 looks as if smssentry installed Mar 03 05:42:49 most of the questions i did not have any strong feelings for Mar 03 05:43:07 slaxxin: from opkg.org? Mar 03 05:44:20 yup Mar 03 05:45:27 sound works:) Mar 03 05:48:27 opkg dies randomly Mar 03 05:49:41 opkg is a horrible tangle of code Mar 03 05:50:03 :-) Mar 03 05:54:51 mwester: who made opkg? Mar 03 05:56:09 It was done under contract for Openmoko. The names of the guilty are in the sources, but to be fair to them, I suspect that there was only one individual who wrote/designed the worst of it, and everyone else just tried their best to patch up the horror. Mar 03 05:58:02 mwester: what would be the right way to do it then? make apt-get work? Mar 03 05:59:41 usr the openmoko /applications wiki? Mar 03 06:00:40 fredrin: That's the right question to ask. I'm the release manager for the SlugOS distro -- we followed OE's direction and moved to opkg as well. So I have spent a fair amount of time with opkg sources, and in my opinion, it is not possible to salvage it. So I am investigating stripping down dpkg to make it fit. Mar 03 06:01:12 Frankly, the gta0x devices have enough ram and cpu to run the full dpkg/apt solution, they should all switch to that. Mar 03 06:01:47 mwester: sounds like the right thing to do Mar 03 06:02:02 it works nice with the debian distributions Mar 03 06:04:03 guss making packages would be easier too Mar 03 06:08:56 mwester: is ipkg also a deadend system? Mar 03 06:10:30 ok, read in the wiki now that ipkg was a dead system with tradmark/name problems Mar 03 06:10:35 ipkg worked, or at least we knew what was broken with it. Mar 03 06:11:26 the real truth is that ipkg was owned by a gentleman who has a running feud with some of the handheld-device community, so there is too much bad blood there for anyone to have picked up ipkg. Mar 03 06:13:03 ah, the wonderful world of open source :) Mar 03 06:14:07 :D Mar 03 06:34:47 well now if tangogps didnt error/fail when u try to change the OSM map location to the media card ,, i would be good Mar 03 06:35:16 shr 0302 Mar 03 06:35:48 shr Mar 03 06:35:58 is working well Mar 03 06:36:16 i'm testing now aswell Mar 03 06:36:21 slo but well Mar 03 06:36:40 after flashing Mar 03 06:54:03 just for fun, i did opkg update && opkg upgrade after flashing to latest shr-testing, but opkg still dies Mar 03 06:54:24 about here: Mar 03 06:54:25 Downloading http://build.shr-project.org/shr-testing/ipk//armv4t/shared-mime-info_0.51-r2.1_armv4t.ipk Mar 03 06:54:26 opkg: fork failed Mar 03 06:54:26 Segmentation fault Mar 03 07:05:04 :q Mar 03 07:53:29 morning Mar 03 07:58:09 good morning Mar 03 09:27:27 hi all Mar 03 09:42:25 openmoko: 03werner * r4943 10/developers/werner/gta03/cam/cap2ppm.pl: Quick and dirty camera capture to PPM conerter.
