**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Mon Apr 05 02:59:56 2010 Apr 05 11:42:16 I guess this question is asked oftenly but how does openmoko position in relation to android Apr 05 11:48:52 crap, i have no sound in calls all of a sudden (shr-t) Apr 05 11:49:24 things were going so well as well Apr 05 11:50:28 help! Apr 05 11:50:47 i already get enough grief for having a joke of a phone Apr 05 11:50:52 i could really do without this Apr 05 11:51:35 speaker phone works Apr 05 11:51:37 :-s Apr 05 11:52:14 sliding back to normal, has no effect Apr 05 11:52:16 argh Apr 05 11:52:17 shit Apr 05 11:55:34 how long is it going to take for the volume slider fix to get back-ported to shr-t from shr-u? Apr 05 11:55:39 i gather the fix is already done Apr 05 11:55:46 and i'm guessing my issue is related Apr 05 11:55:59 i have a max of 30 mins before i get an earful :( Apr 05 11:56:15 i see there are no upgrades pending on the feeds for me Apr 05 12:13:59 excuse me expressing my emotions - fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck Apr 05 12:14:17 i can't use my damn phone *again* Apr 05 12:17:19 did you upgrade? Apr 05 12:24:05 tim_abell: you should ask spaetz who's usually doing backporting and other testing-related stuff. Apr 05 12:25:36 it wouls seem spaetzzZ is sleeping :) Apr 05 13:43:31 Hi. My openmoko was completely discharged while being in electrical host mode. Now I'm unable to charge it and switch it on. Is there any trick (without charging battery elsewhere) to put openmoko device into device mode again? Apr 05 13:46:56 I would guess, but not know, that at least removing the battery for a while would reset that setting; that said, it can be tricky to bootstrap the device with a drained battery. Apr 05 13:48:18 you can't boot it even with external power plugged in? Apr 05 13:48:42 anyone know when shr-stable is expected to be released? Apr 05 13:49:03 mjr: yup. and even with/without battery... Apr 05 13:51:29 isn't there a trick with NOR bootloader? Apr 05 13:52:13 have you tried to keep it attached to power for a couple of hours in the hopes that it'll trickle-charge sufficiently? (IIRC at least GTA01 did that, not sure about FR though) Apr 05 13:54:39 pva_theor: perhaps this section helps: http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Neo_FreeRunner_(GTA02)_Battery#Make_sure_your_battery_never_discharges_completely. Apr 05 13:56:23 pva_theor: search for "flat battery" advices on the wiki. Apr 05 13:56:52 pabs3: the trick with nor bootloader works with some hosts but not with others... Seems to always work with the wallcharger. Apr 05 13:57:13 pva_theor: so basically the easiest: use your wallcharger to boot to NOR Apr 05 14:04:18 Thank you guys. I'll try ) Apr 05 17:53:28 * brolin_empey peeks and pokes zeroedout. ;) Apr 05 17:55:44 radekp: I left my FR charging overnight at home. In the morning, my FR was dead again: I had to remove the battery to get it to power on again. After QtMoko finished booting, the "Welcome to Qt Extended" first-run setup wizard was stuck in an infinite loop: every time I completed it, it would start again. I needed to go to work, but QtMoko would not suspend, so I powered off my FR. Apr 05 17:56:05 radekp: Now I am at work and QtMoko still has the same problem. :( Apr 05 18:15:09 radekp: RNDIS appears to not work so I cannot even ssh into QtMoko while the first-run wizard is running. :( Apr 05 18:23:10 brolin_empey: do you have qtmoko in NAND or on SD card? Apr 05 18:43:09 radekp: in NAND, as always. Apr 05 18:44:45 radekp: RNDIS works now. It did not work before because I booted my FR with it connected to my PC, so I had to unplug and replug the USB cable after QtMoko was finished booting. Apr 05 18:45:16 maybe there will be someting intersting in /var/log/messages Apr 05 18:51:42 radekp: Interesting: ARP on QtMoko works for our LAN's Internet gateway (192.168.0.2) at work, but not at home: at home, I have to manually add an ARP entry. Both LAN's Internet gateway is at 192.168.0.2, but at work we have a Thompson Speedtouch ADSL modem connected to a Linksys WRT54GL v1.1 running DD-WRT; at home, I have a Siemens Gigaset wireless ADSL gateway (ADSL modem + wired gateway + WLAN access point all in 1 box). Bo Apr 05 18:54:34 radekp: Why does my FR keep dying, even after I have upgraded from moko8, which came with my FR, to the current moko11 and upgraded to the current QtMoko release? :( Apr 05 18:56:47 brolin_empey: no idea, i dont have enough info to tell Apr 05 18:57:25 brolin_empey: nothing in /var/log/messages ? Apr 05 18:57:46 do you have charged battery? Apr 05 19:02:10 radekp: Yes, the battery is charged, but there are lots of messages indicating JFFS2 corruption in /var/log/messages . :( Apr 05 19:03:55 hmm i have problem that i cant flash qtmoko jffs image on my phone too Apr 05 19:04:08 * radekp wonders what could be the cause Apr 05 19:04:30 can you try qtmoko on SD card? Apr 05 19:05:05 i think it could work well with sd clock speed lowered Apr 05 19:06:09 radekp: I could, but I would rather continue using QtMoko on NAND. Can I fsck the JFFS2 file system on NAND while I am running QtMoko from it? Apr 05 19:06:40 i dont think so Apr 05 19:08:44 radekp: We have had problems with JFFS2 corruption on NAND on our SA2410 Medallion CPU Module at work too. The SA2410 uses the S3C2410AL, same as the Neo 1973. Apr 05 19:15:12 radekp: I have a DBoard at home. Would that help? Or should I just install QtMoko on a spare SD card and boot from it so I can try to fsck the JFFS2 on NAND? Apr 05 19:15:59 brolin_empey: i'd try install on SD card Apr 05 19:17:14 radekp: I have 2 spare HP 8 GB Class 4 microSDHC cards because I bought 3 cards total because I thought I may need them for my 5 spare FRs. I was regretting buying 3 cards instead of 1 because so far I have used only 1, but now it seems the 2 spare cards will be useful after all. :) Apr 05 19:17:37 brolin_empey: :) Apr 05 19:18:12 brolin_empey: in fact if running from would turn out to be smooth, it could be better then NAND Apr 05 19:18:51 brolin_empey: you have more space on rootfs and you can easily make backup (on PC with SD card reader) Apr 05 19:18:59 brolin_empey: 5 spare FR's? :o What do you do with those puppies? Apr 05 19:19:48 radekp: Now I can have a QtMoko card to test my 5 spare FRs without worrying about losing anything important from the card. :) Apr 05 19:23:04 radekp: Yes, I would have enough space to install OpenOffice.org! ;) Seriously, though, I prefer running QtMoko from NAND because I still have sufficient space in / and can change SD cards without having to connect a USB card reader to the FR since QtMoko runs from NAND. Apr 05 19:25:07 swoody: The display did not come on on 1 of the 5, so I do not know if it works. Currently, they all sit on my Apr 05 19:26:09 swoody: The display did not come on on 1 of the 5, so I do not know if it works. Currently, they all sit on my "dining room" table, which I never use for dining any more, because I do not currently have a use for them. Apr 05 19:27:10 brolin_empey: wow, I'm trying to afford one, lol. You didn't try to RMA the one with the screen issue? Apr 05 19:28:27 swoody: I say "dining room" table because I have a 1-bedroom apartment, which has the (carpeted (fail)) dining area and living room in the same room. Apr 05 19:28:53 brolin_empey: ah, I gotcha. My last apartment was just like that, too. Apr 05 19:29:09 major carpet fail there, too. You would suck up half of it with a vacuum :/ Apr 05 19:33:48 swoody: I cannot RMA it because I bought everything as-is for 150 USD. See http://lists.openmoko.org/pipermail/community/2010-March/060655.html Apr 05 19:34:54 brolin_empey: very cool :) Apr 05 19:35:29 brolin_empey: have you tested them with a headset yet? Apr 05 19:42:59 swoody: No, I am too busy with my FR #0. See http://lists.openmoko.org/pipermail/community/2010-March/060980.html **** ENDING LOGGING AT Tue Apr 06 02:59:56 2010
