**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Wed Mar 06 02:59:58 2013 Mar 06 10:22:36 what is the location of latest qi for gta02? the links in the wiki show versions from 2009. are there any newer versions? Mar 06 10:23:04 i tried u-boot from gena2x but i can't get it to boot from nand :( Mar 06 10:34:41 ok i found one on the shr page Mar 06 17:10:38 Hi! Mar 06 17:11:56 I sill not able to boot a recompiled kernel... I have problems with the file system on the SD card... Maybe there's a simpler way to use a recompiled kernel? Mar 06 17:13:18 txor: were you able to boot with a kernel by someone else? Mar 06 17:18:55 The phone has SHR on the nand and it boots right... Mar 06 17:19:53 I see that sometimes the ext2 fs of the SD gets corrupted on booting in the Freerunner... Mar 06 17:30:23 PaulFertser, I tried the kernel from sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/qtmoko/files/GTA02/uImage.bin-2.6.34-qtmoko-v48/download). Mar 06 17:30:39 PaulFertser, Mainly with the same results... Mar 06 17:57:11 txor: what SD clock frequency are you using? Mar 06 18:01:17 I tried with and without glamo_mci.sd_max_clk=10000000 with same results Mar 06 18:10:58 txor: have you tried going lower? Mar 06 18:11:08 txor: oh, btw, do you have SIM inserted? Mar 06 18:14:21 txor: btw, please do show a dmesg from serial of such an attempt. Mar 06 18:17:30 PaulFertser, I don't have SIM. I tried now multiple combinations... ext2/ext3, changing SD, multiple boot options... Now I am trying to boot from a single ext3 partition but u-boot does not recognize it. Mar 06 18:17:55 PaulFertser, Let me try to lower the clock Mar 06 18:20:20 txor: you know why i'm asking about SIM? There's a mechanical issue that sometimes makes SD unreliable unless it's constantly pushed downwards. Mar 06 18:20:52 PaulFertser, mmcinit command on u-boot allways works... Mar 06 18:21:06 Sorry for my english... xD Mar 06 18:25:05 txor: i still recommend you to place some (probably broken or upside-down) sim or something like that to push the card. Mar 06 18:27:05 Slice up a SIM-shaped piece of creditcard or gift-card. Mar 06 18:27:50 Likewise a piece of paper folded several times would work. Mar 06 18:29:45 I have an old SIM! :D Mar 06 18:45:51 Maybe I have to use a different method of booting, NAND could work with eCos? Mar 06 18:47:49 txor: you have jtag man, you can do anything, you can load it to RAM and tell uboot to boot it :) Mar 06 18:48:46 Yes... I want to use a standard, demo-useful method... without wires! Mar 06 18:49:07 txor: i think sd card is easier. Mar 06 18:49:16 txor: and you need to figure out the problems with sd card. Mar 06 18:49:38 txor: you still are to share the bootlog with lowered sd clock and the card pushed down by sim ;) Mar 06 18:50:25 PaulFertser, I am ready to launch the test! How low you want the clock? Mar 06 18:50:51 txor: hmmmmm 1MHz :) Mar 06 18:50:59 1000000? Mar 06 18:51:04 txor: yes Mar 06 18:51:24 PaulFertser, Right, marching one test with glamo_mci.sd_max_clk=1000000! :D Mar 06 18:52:51 PaulFertser, Harcded bootargs: setenv bootargs rootfstype=ext3 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 console=ttySAC2,115200n8 console=tty0 loglevel=7 regular_boot rootwait glamo_mci.sd_max_clk=1000000 \${mtdparts} Mar 06 18:53:08 txor: omit rootfstype please Mar 06 18:53:47 txor: is that rootfs ext3 with extents or without btw? What would be if you try to force ext2? (not for this test) Mar 06 18:55:32 PaulFertser, The result: http://pastebin.com/YW30CCbw Mar 06 18:55:56 PaulFertser, What do you mena with extents? Mar 06 18:56:00 PaulFertser, mean** Mar 06 18:57:28 txor: extents is an ext3 feature that makes it impossible to mount as ext2 :) Mar 06 18:57:43 txor: ok, my suggestion: try another sd card, this one seems really incompatible with your device. Mar 06 18:58:32 PaulFertser, I'll do, how I can check the extents option? Mar 06 18:58:49 PaulFertser, sorry let me google it :^ Mar 06 19:00:22 txor: do not bother, i think your sd card is incompatible, try another first. Mar 06 19:02:56 PaulFertser, Ok! I have another one of 2GB... Mar 06 19:02:57 txor: i think 10MHz is the optimum frequency for experimentation. With lower frequencies the drive strength might be set too low i'm afraid. Mar 06 19:03:21 PaulFertser, I'll launch now a new test with one more 0. Mar 06 19:05:53 PaulFertser, OMG now is complainig abut ext3 fs... http://pastebin.com/gkdLx6u0 Mar 06 19:06:39 txor: it's ext4 and it booted to init :) Mar 06 19:07:58 txor: try waiting or something Mar 06 19:08:45 PaulFertser, OMG! I used mkfs.ext3 why it created ext4!! :_ Mar 06 19:09:51 txor: that's one explanation, another is that your FR doesn't communicate with the card without errors and so ext3 module gets errors but somehow ext4 doesn't or doesn't care :) Mar 06 19:10:23 PaulFertser, How long we have to wait until its clear that is not working? xD Mar 06 19:10:41 txor: a minute of silence on serial is enough i'd say :) Mar 06 19:12:07 txor: probably you need both glamo_mci.sd_max_clk=1000000 and glamo_mci.sd_drive=3 and probably your card still won't work but another one will. Mar 06 19:12:36 PaulFertser, I have prepared the other card now! Mar 06 19:12:44 PaulFertser, Let's see... Mar 06 19:15:54 PaulFertser, New result, same recipe, different SD card: http://pastebin.com/f3GtLiXi Mar 06 19:17:00 txor: damn strange. Have you tried cleaning the sd slot pins with ethanol or something, who knows... Mar 06 19:17:16 txor: i'm off to sleep, so see you later. Mar 06 19:18:20 PaulFertser, Ok Paul! Thanks very much, I'll try to clean it! Hehehe Mar 06 19:19:43 txor: it's surprising but it sometimes help indeed. You have problems reading from sd card, that's for sure. If none of the cards you have around can be read, cleaning doesn't help you can consider your gta02 to be incapable to properly communicate... But i've not heard about one like that yet. Mar 06 19:26:42 PaulFertser, I'll try to use NAND and maybe I forget about SD... Anyway I'll buy my own Freerunner... **** ENDING LOGGING AT Thu Mar 07 02:59:58 2013
