**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Fri Jun 27 02:59:59 2014 Jun 27 08:09:25 Hi everyone! :) I just got my new Open Moko freeRunner yesterday. It looks and feels really nice. However, I'm having a problem starting it up. Jun 27 08:10:59 Sefruliz: hi. What do you mean exactly? Jun 27 08:11:12 When I connected it to computer for the first time to charge it, it booted up nicely. I did the screen calibration thing and then it went to the start screen, after which I left it to charge. Jun 27 08:11:20 When the charging was ready... Jun 27 08:12:11 I disconnected it from the computer and shut down the phone. Now when I try to turn it on a text comes to the screen that says: Jun 27 08:12:54 s3c2410_udc: debugfs dir creation failed -19 Jun 27 08:13:02 After which nothing happens. Jun 27 08:13:27 Does anyone know how to fix this problem? :) Jun 27 08:14:28 Also, I'm using a 2GB microSD card that I have formated to the ext3 filesystem. Jun 27 08:18:12 Sefruliz: that debugfs message is normal. What are you using as the bootloader, and what OS and from what medium are you going to boot? Jun 27 08:26:47 Good to know that it's normal. :) I am not sure actually which things I'm using, I haven't installed any of them myself yet. I was trying to use the ones that came pre-installed to the phone. The OS looked like QT-moko as I have seen in the pictures, but I'm not sure if it was that. Jun 27 08:36:08 I quess that I'll try to install Qi and see if that helps. :) Jun 27 08:51:40 I now have NeoTool and I have downloaded Qi. How can I install the bootloader to free runner? Jun 27 08:55:39 I've never used neotool, I'm using plain dfu-util. You need to turn off the phone, hold AUX, plug usb in, you'll see NOR u-boot menu on screen, then use dfu-util to upload Qi to "u-boot" partition. Jun 27 09:03:54 Okay. This maybe a funny question, but does AUX mean the power button or something else? Jun 27 09:07:42 The other button. Jun 27 09:14:40 Oh, I see. :D I hadn't even realized that there was an other button. Jun 27 09:17:18 Okay, I downloaded Qi to the FreeRunner as you told without errors. :) Can I now just turn off the phone and try to start it againg? Jun 27 09:19:02 Yes Jun 27 09:22:33 Ok. :) Now when I booted, a whole lot of text appeared on the screen, and the AUX button was flashing a red light. Thw the phone turned of by itself, and now it doesn't seem to turn on anymore. Maybe I should try to reinstall the OS too. Or what would you suggest? Jun 27 09:22:35 :) Jun 27 09:23:54 Qi boots from uSD by default. So I'd recommend getting the latest QtMoko version, preparing the card appropriately, untarring and trying to boot. Jun 27 09:25:37 Oh I see. :) Jun 27 09:27:36 PaulFertser: Thanks for all the help, Paul. I need to leave now but I'll come back later to report how I have managed in installing the QtMoko. See you all later. :) Jun 27 12:49:32 Hi again everyone! Jun 27 12:51:11 I have now installed Qi on to the FreeRunner, formated the microSD card to ext3 filesystem and untarred QTMoko to the card. Jun 27 12:53:39 After doing these things, the first time I tried to boot I got some text to the screen saying that the SD card is on a read only mode. Now when I try to boot it, it seems like it manages to read some files from the SD card, but also tries to create some files, which always fails. Any ideas on how this could be fixed? Jun 27 12:58:34 Also, I haven't yet flashed the kernel to the phone. Is that necessary? Jun 27 13:49:58 Sefruliz: no if you boot from uSD. Jun 27 13:55:44 Okay. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sat Jun 28 02:59:58 2014
