**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Thu Mar 04 02:59:58 2010 Mar 04 12:31:07 yay, my new sheevaplug+esata just came in Mar 04 12:31:14 newit is fast Mar 04 12:53:29 Anyone compared to globalscale is fast :P Mar 04 13:44:59 mjl-: yeah newIT are pretty amazing Mar 04 13:45:09 glad I live in the UK not US Mar 04 15:51:56 chemicaloliver: newIT purchases in bulk from Globalscale Technologies. Without newIT eating in to the supply chain there would be more more available for shipping in the USA at any given time ;) Mar 04 15:52:55 heh Mar 04 15:53:14 then where did all the plugs go before newit started selling them? :) Mar 04 15:53:38 mjl-: to the people ordering them directly. Mar 04 15:53:49 yes i know Mar 04 15:53:51 but they were slow then too Mar 04 15:53:58 globalscaletechnologies that is Mar 04 15:57:30 well newIT buys in bulk from Globalscale. newIT purchased all the guruplugs being produced the 1st couple of months after release. That is what I read. This has resulted in no supplies being available till April for direct purchase. Hoping newIT sells a lot of its stock so that bug reports get back to globalsale and we get revved boards ;) Mar 04 15:59:22 the only reason newIT is faster is because they have more stock on hand than customers purchasing in a given period. Mar 04 15:59:47 would globalscale surley not just make more knowing newIT where going to make a big order Mar 04 16:01:06 and there were many reports of poor service from globalscale before newIT started Mar 04 16:01:08 not really. production lines only have so much capacity. it can be expensive to up capacity. Mar 04 16:01:37 well I have emailed glbalscale and gotten fast response. Mar 04 16:11:01 chemicaloliver: so how do you like your sheevaplug? Mar 04 16:13:50 tinker-f595: yeah I really like it, I've had it for about 4 months now running almost all the time, in fact I'm talking to you now on it via ssh and irssi! Mar 04 16:14:45 haw Mar 04 16:16:10 I have had mine for about 9 months. I have the kernel and RFS booting from an external hard drive. Mar 04 16:19:03 now if could get backtrack distro for arm... Mar 04 16:31:41 Ihave my /boot on a sd card and the rest of debian on a usb powered hd, that saves any problems with uboot Mar 04 16:32:04 I'm sure you could make turn debian into backtrack on sheevaplug Mar 04 16:51:17 chemicaloliver: depends on if they have hardcoded any x86 specific stuff in it. That would take time to did out of the source code and replace. Mar 04 16:51:29 well need to get going to work Mar 04 17:01:10 I meant most of the tools are generic and you can apt-get lots of them, after you've exausted all the repos then obviously you'd be left with the work you say **** ENDING LOGGING AT Fri Mar 05 02:59:58 2010
