**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Sat May 29 02:59:57 2010 May 30 01:26:46 hey, im having a problem with an error im getting when trying to run mkfs.ext* commands. the error is: mkfs.ext3: /lib/libblkid.so.1: version `BLKID_2.17' not found (required by mkfs.ext3). surprisingly there was a very recent bug filed with debian (read: today) about this, but it has already been closed because it was a dupe of bug 583592 in e2fsprogs (bug: http://osdir.com/ml/debian-bugs-dist/2010-05/msg09421.html). May 30 01:26:46 thinking as I am writing this that it might be better suited for #debian but wanted to try here first. this is a fresh install copied following the howto from a working USB copy. thanks for any help you can provide! May 30 01:27:24 robbiet480: sheevaplug or guruplug? (i assume guruplug since debian) May 30 01:27:31 sheeva actually May 30 01:27:37 oh lol May 30 01:27:56 your system is just broken May 30 01:28:00 Md: figured as much May 30 01:28:16 mostly just wanted someone to confirm my suspicious May 30 01:28:19 suspicions* May 30 01:28:43 allright, next question, what OS do you all use on your plugs May 30 01:28:51 i wanted to use plugbox but couldnt get it to install correctly :/ May 30 01:29:13 i use gentoo May 30 01:29:14 but i'm insane May 30 01:29:17 lol May 30 01:29:20 im a linux sysadmin May 30 01:29:26 i tried gentoo once May 30 01:29:27 robbiet480: Building Gentoo here. I'm insane, too. May 30 01:29:35 it was on my computer for about 35 minutes before i dropped it lol May 30 01:29:55 however, that was like 3 or 4 years ago May 30 01:30:12 It's not for everyone, or every purpose. May 30 01:30:15 gentoo is so easy to install to a plug if you have some OS there already you can chroot from May 30 01:30:49 i guess i could also just re-copy from the USB stick May 30 01:31:04 because the stick is good since i was formatting partitons when booted from it May 30 01:31:04 espically since it's not manditory to compile your own kernel; the ones from sheeva.with-linux.com work May 30 01:31:37 what i do is setup uboot to load the kernel and rootfs from the NAND, but mount /usr /home and /var/www from a USB drive May 30 01:31:43 (using fstab) May 30 01:31:45 thats what i wish i did May 30 01:32:00 i realized after the fact that i was already outta space just by doing apt-get upgrade :/ May 30 01:32:05 lol May 30 01:32:10 apt-cache clean May 30 01:32:13 then go again May 30 01:32:16 so this time around, imma install it with my 1TB drive holding /home and /var May 30 01:32:24 Tootoot222: no i know, but still it only has maybe 200mb free May 30 01:32:28 yea May 30 01:32:40 in fact May 30 01:32:43 it just filled up May 30 01:32:44 lol May 30 01:33:02 39M free :/ May 30 01:33:45 hmm May 30 01:33:50 anyone use plugbox here? May 30 01:34:55 I've heard rumblings of globalscale having made a design revision because of how hot the damn things run. May 30 01:35:10 Does anyone know if this is this true May 30 01:35:17 ulterior_Q: im a noob, and i heard that too May 30 01:35:21 from about 3 different places lol May 30 01:36:01 on the guruplug? May 30 01:36:08 ya May 30 01:36:19 =s i just ordered one a few days ago May 30 01:37:04 It runs hardcore hot and while mine has been sort of reliable, I wouldnt recommend it, being on the other side of purchasing one. May 30 01:38:20 do you know what the guruplug psu outputs power-wise? May 30 01:38:25 what the maximums are May 30 01:40:30 (open question ^) May 30 01:40:44 (I.E. for anybody to answer) May 30 01:43:29 ok so it looks like it doesn't draw above 1,5a May 30 01:43:53 so i could transpose the guruplug psu into my sheevaplug, and my [external] sheevaplug psu onto the guruplug May 30 01:43:58 if the heat becomes an issue, that is May 30 02:05:25 Any links to guruplug heat issue stories? Mine are silly hot too. :/ May 30 02:06:33 NightMonkey: http://plugcomputer.org/plugforum/index.php?topic=1735.0 May 30 02:07:56 Tootoot222: Thanks. May 30 02:16:54 Gosh. Well, I'm glad I got the plugs for testing befor edeploying to client sites... May 30 02:17:19 At least their my gateway into ARM land.
