**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Thu Jun 09 02:59:57 2011 Jun 09 05:57:51 kgilmer: the only place I know to find a dreamplug kernel is http://code.google.com/p/dreamplug/downloads/list Jun 09 05:58:50 kgilmer: I know there is someone planning to supply a dreamplug patch to the mainline kernel Jun 09 05:59:00 but that is a way off Jun 09 06:04:25 ok tinker-f595, thanks Jun 09 06:04:44 yes this page is referenced in the paper that ships w/ the dreamplug Jun 09 06:09:30 kgilmer: the person is adding dreamplug support to the mainline uboot and also planning on adding it to the mailine kernel Jun 09 06:12:27 ic tinker-f595. i have no problems with the shipping kernel, just curious. i am just getting started w/ the device. wrote up some initial impressions here: http://kgilmersden.wordpress.com/ Jun 09 06:13:43 kgilmer: I think this is kind of strange statement "This is a big improvement over the GuruPlug and other boards that expect the user to install a distro before using the device." Jun 09 06:14:24 why strange? Jun 09 06:15:15 The Guruplug comes out of the box with a web server running that is the front end to a configuration tool that lets you customize how you want to use it. Pne of the options is as an access point if i remember correctly Jun 09 06:15:49 oh? mine did not, but as i recall i got it 2nd hand. Jun 09 06:16:36 kgilmer: yes and the person who sold it to you probably screwed it up Jun 09 06:17:50 actually i think i meant to say 'beagleboard' there anyway. thanks, i've edited the post. Jun 09 06:18:10 kgilmer: This interests me http://www.globalscaletechnologies.com/p-43-d2-plug.aspx , more than the dreamplug Jun 09 06:18:34 kgilmer: no problem ; Jun 09 06:18:34 0 Jun 09 06:18:36 ; Jun 09 06:18:36 0 Jun 09 06:18:38 ; Jun 09 06:18:41 ;) Jun 09 06:18:49 hmmm been a long day Jun 09 06:19:07 ha Jun 09 06:19:23 d2 looks cool. my application is headless audio so i don't need that. Jun 09 06:19:39 well what interests me is the SOC that it uses Jun 09 06:19:47 i wish the serial console used mini usb or straight-up d9 serial. Jun 09 06:20:58 yes the mini usb to ftdi on the sheevaplug, guruplug and Open RD series is nice Jun 09 06:21:42 ah pxa510 looks nice Jun 09 06:21:45 I leave my OpenRd plugged into one of my other systems that way so if I want to play with it remotely and mess with uboot I can Jun 09 06:23:29 yeah i have two BUGs running w/ serial for uboot stuff Jun 09 06:23:41 xM for upgrades but try to leave that one alone Jun 09 06:24:23 w/out uboot access (no special cable) its a bit limiting on the tinkering, but i can open the box and change the sd card so it's not too much of a hassle. Jun 09 06:28:47 well I need to go to sleep Jun 09 06:33:08 oh i didndt knew the D2Plug - looks like a dreamplug mod on the first look Jun 09 06:46:55 different SOC Jun 09 06:47:01 * tinker-f595 back to sleep Jun 09 14:19:09 is there a mirror for sheeva.with-linux? it seems to have been down for ~2 days Jun 09 15:30:45 more specifically, i am trying to use ESIA to load an image onto a Guru Plug Server Standard. I have used the tool and this image to load successfully on a Sheeva. However, when I load to a Guru, i hangs when trying to boot the kernel. Any ideas? Jun 09 16:46:30 compile_woes: look at the Guru Plug documentation Jun 09 16:47:14 tinker-f595 which documentation? I have reviewed a lot and have not found anything that talks about kernels hanging Jun 09 16:47:18 and use a guruplug image, not a sheevaplug image Jun 09 16:47:45 that indicates you are using the wrong kernel Jun 09 16:48:00 I have to go to work Jun 09 16:48:14 build a kernel...it is in the mainline Jun 09 16:48:32 http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-2.6-stable.git;a=summary Jun 09 16:49:31 I am off to work so won't be back online for another 10 hours... **** ENDING LOGGING AT Fri Jun 10 02:59:57 2011
