**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Sun Aug 10 02:59:57 2008 Aug 10 09:33:04 lpotter: I have gotten it to work with norwegian wordlist by exchanging the ones in the en_US folder. My problem is that I send quite a few english messages also, and aside from being unpractical, with the latest software revision, the handwriting tool is gone. This makes it impossible to write norwegian letters like æøå (which I could do with the handwriting tool. I would like to get it back if possible). Also, going to the settings menu Aug 10 09:33:04 and then languages for changing writing language is a bit bothersome, but it is better than not being able to change language at all. I would btw prefer to have a "change writing language" in the message and text edit apps options, so that one could change it on the fly. Aug 10 09:34:36 is there qtopia desktop for ubuntu? I can't find it here ftp://ftp.trolltech.com/qtopia/desktop/ ... Aug 10 09:59:27 okey, easier question: where do I put files so that they show up in my media player? Aug 10 10:26:01 Ko_deZ: ok. will put it back in Aug 10 10:27:06 lpotter: Thanks =) Aug 10 11:02:34 Hi all Aug 10 11:02:59 Openmoko has a new stable release 2008.8 anybody tried it yet? Aug 10 11:59:08 is it gps support on the qtopia freerunner image? Aug 10 12:00:10 hey effbiai Aug 10 12:00:15 hi Aug 10 12:00:18 You can enable GPS yes Aug 10 12:00:25 does it use gpsd? Aug 10 12:00:38 But there are no tools available for it yet Aug 10 12:00:52 that's no problem =) Aug 10 12:01:00 do you know if it uses gpsd? Aug 10 12:01:14 No can't tell you that, you should ask lpotter here Aug 10 12:01:45 talked a little with him earlier. i'll try to get some info from him =) Aug 10 12:02:39 Sorry can't help ya Aug 10 12:02:53 I am just a simple Qtopia user Aug 10 12:05:52 You could use my crude tool. Uses gpsd though. Add http://kodez.homelinux.net/feed to the package manager. gpsui will allow you to see your position and such (just the raw data from gpsd in a more sensible way). Will add logging to it eventually, but my spare time is very limited at the moment. Aug 10 12:06:19 oh, and you need gpsd running for it to work. Aug 10 12:08:05 there is a bug as well. To turn on the gps, you need to turn it off, then on in the start. Aug 10 12:12:20 roger and thank you for the info. Aug 10 12:14:47 do you know if there's a precompiled gpsd witch works with qtopia Ko_deZ? Aug 10 12:52:43 effbiai: yeah. Aug 10 12:52:58 ssh to the phone, and run the command "opkg install gpsd" Aug 10 12:53:08 maybe first "opkg upgrade" Aug 10 12:53:41 The phone needs to be able to access the web for that to work. There is a good usb network guide in the openmoko wiki. Aug 10 13:44:24 thank you alot Ko_deZ Aug 10 13:44:49 np Aug 10 16:11:19 uff - that Answer issue is really annoying ... is it better in upcoming 4.4? Aug 10 19:47:24 lpotter, I wonder -- those images you release -- are they based on git://git.openmoko.org/git/qtopia.git ? which branch -- master? Aug 10 19:47:43 lpotter_, ah -- you are _ed now ;-) Aug 10 19:47:44 they are bsaed on our depot. Aug 10 19:48:11 is there any 'interaction' between git at openmoko and your depot? Aug 10 19:50:41 would it be 'evil' to re-introduce a branch to keep those original snapshots of qtopia? (I see hanging tags for qtopia up to 4.3.1) Aug 10 19:50:50 openmoko? dont know Aug 10 19:51:10 I meant your qtopia.git on git.openmoko.org Aug 10 19:51:34 i dont have anything to do with that Aug 10 19:52:21 I am blind... sorry Aug 10 19:52:35 I thought that you are the 'master' of that git... sorry Aug 10 19:54:46 lpotter, just 1 more buzz -- so is there anything you could do about 'slow Answer' issue? or is it fixed in 4.4? Aug 10 19:55:35 could look into that issue, as no one here seems intersted Aug 10 19:55:40 interested Aug 10 19:55:55 that would be terriffic! I would owe you a beer ;-) Aug 10 19:56:39 today it was hurting me bad -- none good answered call -- always it was timing out prior 'reaction' to my click on the button Aug 10 21:23:35 how can I change the theme on my FR from ssh? Aug 10 21:23:56 the pin number dialog is kinda bugged on the "smart" theme... Aug 10 21:33:02 edit /home/root/Settings/.Trolltech/qpe.conf Aug 10 21:33:56 change Theme to finxi.conf Aug 10 21:42:54 yeh, thanks. I figured it out though. First time I did just that and then restarted the phone, but it just started with the old theme. had to kill qpe ust after I edited it to get it to work... Aug 10 22:00:06 any ideas why this code would say 0 items selected even though I have 15 rows in a QListView selected? Aug 10 22:00:07 http://pastebin.com/m35db4718 Aug 10 22:00:48 I pulled the code right out of QFileDialog and modified it to point to my listview Aug 10 22:04:41 if i listView->selectAll() it works and reports all 20 items.. Aug 10 22:05:00 so something between the mouse and the selection on the view isn't working Aug 10 22:27:22 lpotter: question if I open the package manager it hangs on Simple ipkg installer. Sais please wait for about 10 minutes now... Aug 10 22:27:44 And if I press Done it doesn't react Aug 10 22:50:27 I will try it later :P Going off guys! Have a nice day! Aug 10 22:50:29 Ciao Aug 11 01:28:43 * emacsen punches the screen Aug 11 01:41:53 I hope qtopia 4.4 has a better dialer Aug 11 01:59:03 you have to be patient ;P Aug 11 01:59:11 it's a little slow to respond Aug 11 01:59:22 the whole UI is actually... Aug 11 02:00:06 sometimes I have to recalibrate using a stylus Aug 11 02:00:41 it's not just the speed Aug 11 02:00:54 it's the keypad sometimes goes away when you connect Aug 11 02:01:16 you press the show keypad button Aug 11 02:01:27 then you press hide keypad to make it go away Aug 11 02:01:27 where is that button? Aug 11 02:01:41 but year sometimes I have to hit a button 3 times before the damn thing responds :) Aug 11 02:01:44 yea* Aug 11 02:01:50 um Aug 11 02:02:32 well the keypad that shows up after you make a call or what not Aug 11 02:02:44 is half the pad Aug 11 02:02:51 hmmm? Aug 11 02:03:07 when I call, I get a half a keypad Aug 11 02:03:18 man this 800mg ibuprofen is a horse pill Aug 11 02:03:20 if I back up and go into the dialer again, I see the whole pad Aug 11 02:03:26 emacsen, I confirm that I was getting half-keypad as well Aug 11 02:03:45 things are still a bit buggy Aug 11 02:03:47 on other occasions although I was getting full keypad it wasn't 'interactive' -- ie didn't react to any of my clicks Aug 11 02:03:50 file a bug :) Aug 11 02:04:01 I am just waiting for 4.4 Aug 11 02:04:04 that's fine except when your new ATM card comes and you have to type in the ATM number Aug 11 02:04:12 yoh: that's usually when you have to hit the thing 3 flippin times ;) Aug 11 02:04:17 annoying... Aug 11 02:04:18 I did file 1 bug and it mysteriosely disappeared -- can't locate it within BTS Aug 11 02:04:27 well that sucks Aug 11 02:04:32 and I hate web bug reports enough to don't try 2nd time to file it Aug 11 02:04:42 I still have a running bitch list that I need to start converting into bug reports Aug 11 02:05:14 well -- if only there was a sane interface to file them... heh heh Aug 11 02:05:40 another problem that before you file it you need to check if it is not there yet reported by someone else Aug 11 02:05:55 at least the SMS maps groups multi-part messages properly and doesn't loose parts of a message like any of the other openmoko SMS apps Aug 11 02:06:08 and since there seems to be no fine modular separation among the bug reports -- it is somewhat difficult Aug 11 02:06:10 and I can make calls and the battery isn't dead ina few hours Aug 11 02:06:15 make and receive Aug 11 02:06:22 there are some pluses Aug 11 02:06:29 SURE Aug 11 02:06:41 I use qtopia since it is the only usable distro for FR at the moment Aug 11 02:06:52 yep Aug 11 02:07:01 I also actually like c++ Aug 11 02:07:05 ;P Aug 11 02:07:14 it is sad to don't have the candies (GPS etc) but at least I can call (sometimes) ;-) Aug 11 02:07:43 I'm not holding my breathe for ASU to be released ;) Aug 11 02:08:33 oh, there's an "official" release now...yea I've been keeping upo Aug 11 02:08:38 2008.8 Aug 11 02:09:02 anyone try it? Aug 11 02:10:03 grr... building rootfs now using mokomakefile... someone from that team is my 'favorite' one -- I use BSD accounting and with their silly pipes I bet my logs are filling up very quickly... grrr Aug 11 02:10:24 chillywilly, better stay away from 2008.8 for a while ;-) Aug 11 02:10:44 why's that? Aug 11 02:11:00 you can always reinstall qtopia and copy your backed up database back onto the phone :) Aug 11 02:11:04 you will get a candy which will melt in your hands, make you suite dirty and you will become sticky ;-) Aug 11 02:11:14 or not Aug 11 02:11:25 big boys know how to eat candies Aug 11 02:11:28 sure.. I am lazy to don't create multi-boot... need to do some time... just check mailing lists for 'opinions' and bugs Aug 11 02:11:49 I don't have a multi-boot setup either but it's not like I can't go back to qtopia if I want to Aug 11 02:11:52 brb Aug 11 02:12:32 I will be off in a minute... sure -- I am just lazy to backup my setup to unroll it back whenever I come back to qtopia ;-) Aug 11 02:14:59 uff -- just need to spare time to setup multiboot and create 1 partition on SD per each distro to try (ASU, 2008.2, FSO, qtopia-x11, 2007.2) Aug 11 02:15:31 though ASU == 2008.2 at the moment so it eliminates 1 choice ;) but there is also.... DEBIAN!!!! Aug 11 02:18:49 sure...I need an 8GB microSD card... Aug 11 02:18:54 ;P **** ENDING LOGGING AT Mon Aug 11 02:59:57 2008
