**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Mon May 14 02:59:59 2012 May 14 03:34:13 I installed Ubuntu on my beaglebone and for some reason it's running a PSP kernel. I installed the OMAP kernel and can't quite figure out how to switch May 14 03:45:26 trelane, PSP May 14 03:45:27 ? May 14 03:45:47 that's what rcn-ee called it, and it seems to lack most of the OMAP drivers. May 14 03:45:54 I'm trying a standard OMAP kernel May 14 03:49:35 ok, and that kernel doesn't boot at all :/ May 14 03:57:00 he's missing all the twl4030 drivers :/ May 14 04:00:18 PSP Processor Support Package May 14 04:00:26 Is beaglebone different from beagleboard? May 14 04:00:32 bone doesnt have a twl4030 May 14 04:00:57 so I would be surprised if the drivers loaded May 14 04:01:56 then how is the bone breaking out analog pins? May 14 04:02:00 and what driver am I looking for? May 14 04:02:49 read schematics, see where they are wired May 14 04:07:42 looks like it's right off the AM3558 May 14 04:15:04 looks like there is a driver May 14 04:15:21 /sys/devices/platform/omap/tsc May 14 04:35:55 XorA, which isn't propigated May 14 04:37:23 :/sys/devices/platform/omap# ls -asl tsc May 14 04:37:24 ls: cannot access tsc: No such file or directory May 14 04:38:31 trelane: I suggest you take kernel sources + config from OE then May 14 04:40:17 yep :( May 14 04:40:42 good news, looks like source is direct from TI and defconfig is one simple file :-D May 14 04:41:09 http://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/meta-ti/tree/recipes-kernel/linux/linux-ti33x-psp_3.2.bb May 14 11:12:04 Is there any program will use /dev/fb0 directly, not using fbcon( it need config_vt ,doesn't it) May 14 11:14:41 ayaka: you can pipe /dev/urandom or such into the fb if you like. May 14 11:15:09 no May 14 11:15:46 like X it need tty, but I can't set it in kernel May 14 11:16:17 so is there any way which avoid using tty, and using fb directly May 14 11:20:33 * LetoThe2nd fails totally to see the problem. May 14 11:20:50 but i smell http://mywiki.wooledge.org/XyProblem May 14 11:48:23 no, it is tty problem, it is in kernel, once I set config_vt=y, i can't mount my,rootfs anymore May 14 11:48:30 my rootfs May 14 11:48:38 so I want to avoid tty May 14 12:59:48 LetoThe2nd thank you May 14 14:20:12 Hi, where can I find the live-build configuration used to build the oneiric arm images (specifically armel+omap4)? I've search around but I'm only able to find the preinstalled images themselves, no information on how to recreate them. May 14 15:35:45 i am not able to install SGX drivers on ubuntu 12.04. can any one help? May 14 15:36:10 according to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/OMAP/Graphics after installing 12.04 i get icon in tray to install PVR Driver May 14 15:36:59 before i install driver i check output of eglinfo command and it was showind software renderer May 14 15:37:27 same is happening after driver installation and reboot May 14 15:48:07 parin: click on the gear icon at the top side right side of the desktop and choose the update software one May 14 15:50:16 install all the updates then use that same gear icon to Shut Down... and restart May 14 15:52:51 after doing that then you should get the jockey dialog titled Additional Drivers window to be offered to install PowerVR SGX drivers after a minute of the desktop environment finished loading. If not then click on the gear icon yet again and select System Settings... click on Additional Drivers under Hardware category and now you should be able to install the PowerVR SGX drivers from there May 14 15:52:51 after its done scanning for hardware. May 14 15:58:57 @ TypoNAM thanks for your help May 14 15:59:29 i am installing all updates right now i will follow your instructions and see what happens May 14 16:08:24 parin: :) May 14 16:32:38 @TypoNAM ok i got PVR SGX Driver installed but glxinfo command still shows Software Rasterizaer May 14 16:34:04 do i need to configure it? in When I clicked Additional Drivers in Hardware tab it says PowerVR is activated and currently in use May 14 16:34:18 parin: that is because PowerVR SGX is an OpenGL ES implementation, not OpenGL May 14 16:34:48 you want the es2gears and es2_info tools May 14 16:36:04 parin: install the mesa-utils-extra package for those two utilities May 14 16:36:21 alrite will do that May 14 16:40:58 TypoNAM ok i got that working. es2_info shows me GL_RENDERER: PowerVR SGX 540 May 14 16:41:41 then it is working May 14 16:43:33 yes also before i installed it all applications (e.g Terminal) took long time to open (10 secs) now that time is reduced drastically (2 secs) is that because 3d acceleration is activated? May 14 16:44:15 most likely due to SD card latency May 14 16:44:35 I do have noticed a long delay when opening a new terminal either locally or via ssh remotely May 14 16:45:05 hmm...i am using class 4 16GB May 14 16:45:09 cause everytime you open a terminal several shell scripts are ran to prepare the terminal environment May 14 16:46:14 right...and that delay is huge when I open Qt Creator...i will try using class 6 and class 10 SD cards May 14 16:46:51 what are other storage options with panda? Can I use static hard drive? May 14 16:46:59 parin: also if you have any problems with unity such as no borders around windows and the control box with title bar is missing, click on the gear icon and select Log Out, at the login window click on the white ubuntu icon near your login name and select Ubuntu-2D, log back in, and now you're using the unity that doesn't falsely detect OpenGL and try to use it May 14 16:50:10 ya i notices that behavior when i installed PVR Driver first but didnt update the Ubuntu. as soon as I updated Ubuntu it started working ok May 14 16:51:29 ahh ok :) May 14 16:52:43 no I am really want to try NASA's worldwind 3D Glob program and see how well that works May 14 16:58:14 hehehe May 14 18:05:53 Guys, if you are looking to do some serious development work, I recommend using a usb-sata drive. You will still need to have the boot partiion on the SD, but just change the boot script to point to the usb drive for root. Speed improvement is significant. May 14 18:07:02 Another option is to do a netboot install to the usb drive, but if you already have a working image, you can use a program like gparted to copy/paste the rootfs from SD to the usb drive. May 14 18:07:18 TypoNAM: parin: ^^^ May 14 18:10:50 Hi GrueMaster thank you for your suggestion...i am surly try SATA May 14 18:11:21 but how about SSD? in my project I have limited size May 14 18:11:50 limites space to accommodate hard drive May 14 18:13:21 parin: he's talking about a USB attached drive, which are normally IDE or SATA internal drives in a case May 14 18:13:44 I'm sure a SSD incase of a USB enclosure casing would work just as well May 14 18:13:53 incase = inside May 14 18:14:41 TypoNAM: Yes, SSD in a usb enclosure will also work. May 14 18:15:07 hmmm..i will try both actually...i definitely need to improve read/write speed May 14 18:15:34 also trying xUbuntu-Desktop if it helps May 14 18:15:42 My suggestion is only for a development environment. Once your app is running, you can package it and istall it on a test "execution" image that is SD only for deployment. May 14 18:16:45 yes but we do constant development and right now just concentrating on prototype product May 14 18:17:13 so right now its ok if we keep HD with panda May 14 18:25:37 parin, didn't they announce that they are going to get you guys a calxeda this month? May 14 18:28:12 /oo/ May 14 23:42:47 why is there no gdbserver for Ubuntu 12.04 armhf? May 15 00:00:16 TypoNAM: THere is in -proposed. May 15 00:18:55 infinity: I'm compiling gdbserver myself at this moment :P May 15 01:07:05 TypoNAM: Installing the one from proposed seems like less effort, but okay. May 15 01:07:15 (I was going to pomote it to updates anyway) **** ENDING LOGGING AT Tue May 15 02:59:59 2012
