**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Tue Jul 12 02:59:58 2016 Jul 12 18:26:16 Hey, I have an apt question. So I have a bunch of rPis which I administer but they're not connected to the internet. but I want to perform the updates on them so they're caught up with an updated image burned into future rPi units. The form of the update I want to be a set of .debs and an install script that installs them in order which is then tarred and gzed and then attached to the end of a shell script that performs the update. Is that Jul 12 18:26:16 possible? has anyone ever done something like this before? Jul 12 18:27:59 !offline Jul 12 18:28:12 Ah, right, no ubottu here Jul 12 18:28:26 sorry that didn't go according to plan Jul 12 18:28:48 maybe I'm crazy for thinking I can do this but... Jul 12 18:28:54 I figured it was worth the question Jul 12 18:29:22 GinoManWorks_: "If you need to download Ubuntu packages using another machine or OS, check the desired packages in Synaptic and select File > Generate package download script. See also !APTonCD" Jul 12 18:29:39 yes Jul 12 18:29:41 ...is what the bot would have come back with Jul 12 18:30:05 ok. What if you don't have synaptic because you have no gui installed Jul 12 18:30:30 genii, there used to be one ... not sure why it isnthere Jul 12 18:30:36 bug #1 Jul 12 18:31:01 I see a "ubot9" Jul 12 18:31:05 (i see it in the user list too) Jul 12 18:31:08 yeah Jul 12 18:31:35 some time ago some bots were not joining all channels. logbot was missing some channels, too Jul 12 18:33:01 Yeah, right now synaptic requires X and I don't have any X installed Jul 12 18:37:04 APTonCD seems promising to a degree but it requires you to basically copy every package on the system now into the external device which would make my script go from being 500 lines to several gigabytes **** ENDING LOGGING AT Wed Jul 13 02:59:58 2016
